I've seen Bob seger five times last time I saw him was about 6 or 7 years ago in Worcester Massachusetts he was still amazing
The interesting thing that show in Worcester is backup band was Peter Wolf from j geils and they would two buds man they were great friends and then Peter Wolf come back up on stage and sangwith Bob seger and the silver bullet band

I used this song to teach my son to treat every perspn the same because you never know what people have gone through.
Couple of things. I wish more people would react to original and covers of songs more. I have suggested to people before. I love uncovering different versions of songs.Thanks! She may have been distracted a little by the video. May have been best to do a lyric video. This is one of the best covers EVER in Rock! Please do more cover reactions! Great job.

I saw Bob Seger in 1968 in a small club. I also saw him in 1980 in a big arena. He went a long way. At the time he was a HUGE arena act. Both of his shows were really good.

The most disturbing thing about that video is the realization that there really are people - with children - that live that kind of life. I can't even begin to imagine what that must be like.

I can relate to Kel's take on music videos. Not only can they distract you from the music especially on first reactions, but in this case the music itself is also an edit of the studio version that Metallica recorded, so there's a few skips in addition to the talking clips. Props for acknowledging Bob Seger. Many would have just treated it as a Metallica original. Then again, they do make it their own and as funny as it is to say it out loud, Metallica is my favorite cover band. From Garage inc. to the more recent Dio one "Ronnie Rising Medley", all killer.

I had never seen the Metallica video. That was certainly a darker take on the song. It is never easy to consider the dark, ugly part of life.

Now this is badass...reacting to original and then the cover...this is a case where the original is badass and stands on its own and when Metallica cover a song, it typically becomes their own but this one, each is equal IMO. Love both for different reasons! \m/

@@jondickenson8068 Can't cover without the original ~ Bob's was his 10 years on "the road" without breaking out nationally ~ Metallica took it to a whole different level, one that the original wasn't meant to be ~ Bob's is the best for what it was meant to be ~ Metallica did the song justice "musically" but the interpretation is dark and off the mark......
Kel burning holes in Ginger Lynn thru the whole metallica video was the highlight

Great reaction overall for both great versions. I made webradio a few years ago and when i made my playlists i always struggled for quite some time what version i will play, Bob Seger or Metallica, Both versions are great and i still cant dicide which one is the better one ;)
I can't understand why nobody in UK likes Bob Seger his greatest hits 1 album is the best album i've ever heard and i listen to everything from Guns N Roses to Cypress Hill it's a pure genius album lyrically everyone of his songs takes you on a journey please react to hollywood nights or like a rock (or both😁)🤘🤘
It's not a case of nobody in UK not liking Seger. Seger's record company let him down badly by not promoting his music in UK and Europe. Plus his fear of flying didn't help his cause. The record company preferred to promote Bruce Springsteen.

We saw john English version first in the 70s
New subscriber here. WOW. First time I've heard Metallica's version and it follows a completely different theme to the original. Darker, and far less subtle. I prefer Bob's, to be honest.

Strong proposal! One little fact: Metallica have been playing this song along with 2 other covers of Diamond Head since the beginning, while the DH felt apart after they'd been booted by label in 1984 and had no deals for the album in the next year. Metallica's success made a 1990 3-year-comeback possible, and after they've formed again in 2000 band is active to this day.

51 years old. Bob Segar fan born and raised in Michigan and listened to Metallica in the 80s and 90s. Still, I've have never seen this Ginger Lynn video before. Disappointed by how Metallica cheapened this great song. In the future, I will change the channel when their version comes on the radio. Pure trash. Like recording a version of "California Girls" to raunchy LA porn. I've always though James sang "Vitiligo" instead of "here I go" anyway.
I always loved the original Seger version. When I heard the Metallica version I was very disappointed. It seems to be lacking the soul. I'm glad to find out they made an amazing, although somewhat unrelated, video to sell it. I'm still not a fan of their recording, but their video is amazing and compelling.

The Metallica version was good; I'd never heard it before. But IMO the original is better.
My own opinion only, but Turn the Page is one of those songs that SHOULD NOT have been touched. Metallica of all people has enough talent to write their own songs.

@@ms.chuckfu1088 I believe you are correct on both counts, that's why I said it was my opinion only. Just to be clear, Metallica's version is quite listenable but to me it doesn't have the same feel.
