Now this is badass...reacting to original and then the cover...this is a case where the original is badass and stands on its own and when Metallica cover a song, it typically becomes their own but this one, each is equal IMO. Love both for different reasons! \m/
I can relate to Kel's take on music videos. Not only can they distract you from the music especially on first reactions, but in this case the music itself is also an edit of the studio version that Metallica recorded, so there's a few skips in addition to the talking clips. Props for acknowledging Bob Seger. Many would have just treated it as a Metallica original. Then again, they do make it their own and as funny as it is to say it out loud, Metallica is my favorite cover band. From Garage inc. to the more recent Dio one "Ronnie Rising Medley", all killer.

It's not a case of nobody in UK not liking Seger. Seger's record company let him down badly by not promoting his music in UK and Europe. Plus his fear of flying didn't help his cause. The record company preferred to promote Bruce Springsteen.

Great reaction overall for both great versions. I made webradio a few years ago and when i made my playlists i always struggled for quite some time what version i will play, Bob Seger or Metallica, Both versions are great and i still cant dicide which one is the better one ;)

One little fact: Metallica have been playing this song along with 2 other covers of Diamond Head since the beginning, while the DH felt apart after they'd been booted by label in 1984 and had no deals for the album in the next year. Metallica's success made a 1990 3-year-comeback possible, and after they've formed again in 2000 band is active to this day.

My own opinion only, but Turn the Page is one of those songs that SHOULD NOT have been touched. Metallica of all people has enough talent to write their own songs.

I always loved the original Seger version. When I heard the Metallica version I was very disappointed. It seems to be lacking the soul. I'm glad to find out they made an amazing, although somewhat unrelated, video to sell it. I'm still not a fan of their recording, but their video is amazing and compelling.
