  • Parts Needed (ordered from nissanpartsdeal.com and rockauto and amazon):
    Confirm your parts @ parts.nissanusa...
    1) Rocker/Valve Cover Gasket ($15.16) P/N: 13270-V5000
    2) PCV Valve ($17.00) P/N: 11810-F0502
    3) Gasket - Intake ($6.34) P/N: 14033-75P00
    4) Beck/Arnley ReManuf Injectors ($44.79 + $17 core) P/N: 1550330
    5) TEKTON 34404 11-Inch Long Reach 45-Degree Bent Long Nose Pliers ($12.99) P/N: 34404
    6) NGK Laser Platinum Spark Plug ($7.09) P/N: FR5AP-10
    7) Powerbuilt 30mm Metric Wrench ($13.36) P/N: 644134
    If you can find the SNAP IN Zip Tie parts for the electrical harnesses order that or buy some zip ties. There are two locations around the injectors (under Intake Manifold) you'll have to cut or attempt to remove without breaking as well as behind the valve cover gasket.
    I also ordered extra hose clamps, rubber cap and insulator for injector, extra bolts, penetration oil, and a few other parts. I obtained a few items like Peak coolant (50/50 Long life) from the local auto parts store.
    I spent perhaps $500 on all the parts and tools needed for the job. The injectors were the biggest expense.
    The RockAuto Remanufactured Injectors looked like the picture online at RockAuto but out of the 6 I received 3 looked alike and 3 others looked slightly different (top was slightly pinker, etc.). They did come with the o-rings and 5 of the six came with the insulator. I'd be hesitant to order the Remanufactured again due to their inconsistency. Our injectors were BLUE DOT--and quite dirty. I'd probably go with the HITACHI FIJ0006 BLACK DOT for $36.79 or perhaps the DENSO if I could get them on sale. Nissan OEM are around $138 each ON SALE.
    Steve's videos (with links below) and the service manual really helped make this job possible. Without seeing someone go through the steps I wouldn't have attempted this job. I don't recommend trying to tackle on your own if you can help it. Do plan to spend a good part of the day doing the job. I'm guessing the shop time is 4-5 hours. As an amateur it took us twice that.
    Refer to Steve's video for the FULL DETAILS and this video as secondary material and our challenges.
    It is intimidating but it can be done. Just have patience.
    One last thing, our 19 year old vehicle had 197k miles on it when this was done.

    Thank you. Why did you have to remove distributor cap? Also, you mentioned plug #6 being difficult... there is a special tool in your tool kit (under rear seat) specifically for plug #6, makes it easy. (There are two plug tools - one for plugs 1-5 and a different length for plug 6). There is a notch in the firewall and the Nissan plug6 tool clears the notch PERFECTLY and slips right onto the plug. Hope that helps next time!

      If your special spark tool is missing, make sure you have a flex head ratchet

    The intention of this video is NOT a step by step--others have done that and DONE IT BETTER. In my description I provide details on parts and links to better videos. My objective was to point out a few areas along the way which were challenging. Couple things to note after doing this I've since had to replace the radiator and now have a slight coolant leak we can't find which needs to be addressed. Vehicle at 20 years might be going end of life.

    Hi, I am working on my Pathfinder 98 and I have a question for you. I have a bracket that I have no clue where it was... I have removed a lot of stuff to put cylinder head gasket and now, I have a bracket that I don't know where to install it. I tought that you or someone reading that post can help me. I don't know how to ad a picture. It is a 6 1/2" long bracket with two holes for 8mm bolts and there is a welded nut on the bracket where is a M10 5" bolt. Thank you for your help!

      I would have no idea. Do you have service manual? If not I can try to email you that section. Or you can look online. It wasn't that easy getting it all back on and connected.

    At exactly minute 10:41 there is a small elbow in view with an O ring around it on the left of the EGR nut you just talked about loosening. Would anyone happen to know what that small elbow is or the part number? I can’t seem to find anyone who knows and it’s leaking coolant. Not a lot. Slow drip. Hoping someone knows so I can’t take care of it ASAP!

      christopher jimenez - Try going to a Nissan parts website or even a rock auto and searching the pictures for the part. It is likely part of coolant system since you say it leaks coolant. There are also a lot of evap. There are a bunch of these vehicles in salvage yard but trying to get new is best.

    Did it help draining the radiator for those 2 back hoses, also, did the intake manifold have to be lifted up to access those hoses and wires or whatever in the back? Tha ks for the video

    • @fusecon
      @fusecon  4 года назад

      I don't recall if I drained or not. I try to avoid doing so so I don't think I did. On the second question I do not recall. There are a few hoses in back that are really tough to attach and remove.

    I had a problem with the egr after finishing changing the injector and I just can’t figure out what’s my problem I check the egr and it holds vacuum. So I’m thinking on pulling the intake and redo it again. Any opinions?

    • @fusecon
      @fusecon  4 года назад +1

      Yikes, that is tough job to do again. Try to pull codes. I know I got several and had some vacuum tubes connected wrong. I swapped two and codes cleared up and it ran well from there.

    Hey where is the knock sensor located

    • @fusecon
      @fusecon  Год назад

      It is on the left side under the manifold. Would be a lot of work getting to it. Dealer would likely charge 4-6hrs of labor and bolts may break. We had KnockSensor code for long time and never tried to fix it. Just lived with it. There are other good videos that go into relocation.

      you can disconnect knock sensor and mount new one on intake manifold works just fine@@fusecon

    does the intake have to come off just to do a valve cover gasket replacement?

    • @fusecon
      @fusecon  4 года назад

      Depends on which side. On right side/driver side the answer is yes. It did stop small oil weep we had. It would be a lot of work though.

    Hey do u know how much fuel pressure it takes on Psi??

    • @fusecon
      @fusecon  4 года назад +1

      Fernando - I have manual and you can check there under EC-31 / EC-32. Looks like you can do fuel pressure check: at idling with vacuum hose connected, 34 psi, with vacuum hose disconnected 43 psi. There is a specific process to this (gauge between fuel filter and fuel tube). I've since sold our Pathfinder. I did like the vehicle. It drove really well. It did have a lot of little problems and a lot of EVAP stuff I had to deal with, especially when the charcoal canister leaked. Ugh. If you want the service manual try to mail me.

    I wish you could replace my injectors on my nissan pathfinder

    • @fusecon
      @fusecon  6 лет назад +2

      First off, I wouldn't change it unless it were really needed. We had one injector failing over several years. If you do it plan it to take 2 days, a good portion of time each day. If you are quick and good with some extra help you can do it in one day. Patience is required on the tubes in the back. Those are difficult. Buy the special wrench and long needle nose with bent angle nose. If you get frustrated at repairs I would avoid.
