Nice work. I much prefer how they look after the resole without the dramatic taper on the heals.

Im not sure what to say other than ive been really excited the last month and leaning towards getting a pair of JK's and will probably still get them but im really not to sure about not removing the old stitching i definitely would have removed the old stitching especially with the boot going back on the same machine it was originally built on . So the stitch holes are going to match pretty close if not perfect. I've had numerous boots resoled with stitch down construction and have never had to leave the stitching in . Im not a cobbler but did work in a shop for a while, and i know the gentleman that owned the shop would have had a heart attack if he saw this video. It may be fine, but i definitely don't like it. It just seems lazy to me, but maybe I'm missing something 🤷‍♂️

It's standard in PNW to leave the old thread.
They use a far heavier thread where the holes left behind can be large, and since you can't messure and stitch back into the old holes it's better to leave them to fill any void, that way you don't effect the water resistance.
Remember, they make HEAVY duty work boots, not you run of the mill common boots.

*Yea they should have taken them out. There's a professional cobbler's channel I watch. They remove that stitching from any boots and shoes they get, including heavy duty ones and they do also get ones with heavy stitching. The channel I watch is also very popular, and they get boots and shoes from many places of the world. So they aren't just small timers.*
*I think another reason they have the staff not to it, is because of time. They want to resole their shoes and get them back to their customers in a timely manner.*

@@JinsKookieJams In the scenario of these being in fact, work boots. What benefit do you get from taking them out?
All I see is potential voids and channels for moisture to seep through if the stitch machine misses the old holes, which it 100% will since you're unable to match hole to hole due to the process being upside down.
The reason they are removed has been for the sole reason of cosmetical value from all the various cobblers I've seen mention it.

It was only a "resole". That's it. It was complete redo. i have had 3 resoles cause the midsole and the welts where still good.

@@WolfMimirMori Wrong. I never have seen Nick's boot leave stitching. Same with other brands.
