Headed up by Mike Rosenberg, Passenger are a five-piece from Brighton with a different take on pop. The 23-year-old founder pens unsettling songs about stalking, wasted lives and the despair of abandoned dogs, all with an alarming eye for detail.
They have just come from the Caves Club in Edinburgh and will be at King Tuts Glasgow, on the 27/06/10. This is part of a nationwide UK tour of around twenty venues. I just came across him playing 'Things You've Never Done' right here in Buchanan Street, opposite our studios.
Sorry about the quality Mike, shot on my mobile phone, the only thing I had to hand. (Sony Satio for the nerds!) Talented, generous and polite. This young man must be heading for something good soon. Just great!

Oh the irony! I saw Mike busking in Australia around 2011. I didn't know anything about his music but I stayed transfixed until he finished his entire set then chatted to him. The irony is that this song is about missed chances - "cursing yourself for the things you never did". I can't help but wonder if any of these people will regret not listening to him in 2010?

He is so humble. At 48 now 51 he has become my favourite. Helped me through PTSD and to this day makes me smile and just be happy.

Amazing how many people walked pass and looked in the guitar case to see how much was in there but never stopped for the three seconds it would take to drop a bit of loose change in. I always stop and listen to buskers, street performers and the like because they are the original form of entertainment since medieval times.
And people like you are why we do it.

Das kann ich ja gar nicht glauben . Der selbe herzliche Mensch und die selbe gefühlvolle Stimme wie heute .Und niemand bleibt stehn oder gibt einen Penny ? Was macht den Unterschied ?? Ein Welthit ? Viele seiner Lieder die heute gefeiert werden hat Mike schon Jahre vorher geschrieben und auch teilweise gesungen . Da frage ich mich was macht Ihn heute aus ? Was lieben die Leute ? Seine Berühmtheit oder seine Songs ? Herdentrieb ? Da muss ich jetzt erst einmal drüber nachdenken wie die Menschen so drauf sind :- / .
Ich jedenfalls habe Ihn und seine Songs schon damals , vor Let her go , geliebt . .Seine Musik hat mir soviel gegeben und über vieles hinweg geholfen . . Und jetzt verstehe ich gerade erst so richtig was Mike meint wenn er von den Jahren spricht in denen er als Strassenmusikant unterwegs war .Hmhmhm .. die Menschen sind komisch :-/ ... Ich liebe liebe liebe es um so mehr dass er es nun geschafft hat . Aber trotzdem stimmt mich dieses Video seeehr nachdenklich und auch traurig .
Sadly, sometimes you don't notice talent when its right there, almost free to enjoy , I love hearing a good busker, they do it for the love of music, keeping it going and, as such, encouraging others to try, to try, to try🙂😉✌

Careful Roy. As one who breezes throughout most of the UK, I can say without any doubt, Glasgow is the most hip, bustling and exciting city around. Stand in the city centre anywhere and you can speak to ANYONE. They wont ignore you or run away like a big cissy. That's Glasgow, where the people are real. Not quite the same for a lot of other places. But remember, I shot this film when Mike was relatively unknown in Scotland, so to many passing, he might just have been another busker. But a damn good one, nevertheless.

It says a lot about what really matters when succeeding or not as a musician when you see this video. Same music, same performer, different times. Today that same performance would have been filled with people stopping. Back then, not even a quick glance.
BREATHE by JASMINE LAMPORT...google her..you'll get her....vocally superb...keep your eye on this song and any others she puts out there..and yet, at present she is on a music course in Bristol...and none of those other singers realise just who they are sitting with....i do....i wrote BREATHE with her.....I NEARLY FELL OFF MY SEAT!!!!....the voice is 100% genuine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....frankly, i nearly bloody cried when she sang the first three lines.
...ohhh...and just for the record...there is a busker in Bath City Centre called Steve Robinson...he is the real deal as well...just check out STEVE ROBINSON DRIFT AWAY HUNTINGDON BEACH........and i've written with this dude as well.

These people never expected that he will be popular. I bet they regret passing him by.
I had the privilege to see him busking in Rome few days ago, I could not explain how beautiful it has been and how lucky I feel for being there. It is quite hard to believe that only four years ago nobody payed attention to him while ten days ago he filled up the streets in a while, the streets of a country he had never visited before and that didn't know him at all. This guy is just so damned talented, I appreciate so much everything he's done in music so far!

You all would have walked by-- mostly. Most need context and endless radio play to inform on what’s “really good.” Genius gets missed every day. Jenny Dalton performed in my city, and it was me and the bands playing the venue that were the only ones sitting in the audience.
How could someone walk past this? Such a fantastic song and singer they will curse themselves for not stopping now!

Agreed, Been a fan of Mikes music for a a good few years now and I was always puzzled at lack of mainstream success. I remember Joe Whiley playing some of their earlier stuff on radio 1 years ago but not much happened in the way of chart success. Its brilliant to see Mike on the tele where he deserves to be.
To everyone who got into this band on the back of the "Let her go" record.. you have a great back catalogue to sift through.
I've been listening to his albums all week and I have yet to find a song I didn't like. He is awesome! Just sad to see no one giving him a second glance :(

In Glasgow people don't stop to listen or watch buskers whether they are famous or not. They are too busy in there own little bubble. I don't go to the city very much but when I do the atmosphere is amazing and I'm sad I missed this 7 years ago.

I agree with you guys, what is wrong with these people, I discovered Mike a while back when a friend sent me a link to the "Wicked Mans Rest" video, I have now listened to that album enough times that I know every lyric and can play most of the songs on guitar. What made me laugh at this was the occasional person walking past and looking in his guitar case to see how much people had given him. I would love to see him live if only he came down to Cornwall (hint hint)
