If you enjoyed this van tour, I am also in the process of building a school bus conversion to an rv. If you are interested here is a link to the playlist. ruclips.net/video/3oRt5IA-aBs/видео.html
This is awesome,,, not fancy or all store bought , thats the whole charm of it, U actually used ur head and figured out a way to do things. I went and bought a battery operated bug sprayer I found at home depot.I had one I used around the house and thought hey this would be great out camping or hitting the rd.Sit it in the sun all day and its nice by the time I want to use it. I painted it black so it attracks the sun better , and I have a 5 gallon and never even use half of it . U would be surprised how little of water u can use and still have a good shower..The kitchen cabinets that turn to the outside is a great idea..Good job.
ive been in self built Campers since 1966. You did an Excellent JOB. COACHMAN Indistries from Indiana is how they got their start. You did well. thanks for the intersting video. I enjoyed it.
How did you hang your entire kitchen off of the inside of that door ? What did you use to fasten it to the door, and is there any danger of it coming off the door when you open it up ?
This is the most practical van conversion I've seen out of the 6 months I've been obsessed with watching camper conversions. This layout is exactly what I want except I want the storage sofas to double as pull out beds. My favourite parts have to be the closet and the kitchen. Love this.
Thank you! I now have the benches with a table that folds down into a bed. I also have a second bed in the van too. You can check out my updated tour here>>>>>>ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html
the closet would have been a great spot to add the shower...... I REALLY like how the sink area can be used for outdoors.....I think I Will use that idea...thanks
Sweet! gives me inspiration. I really liked your table lamp, and the swing out kitchen!. Makes the van cozier. Some of those other vans are way to expensive to redue! thanks!
Thank you. I've done a lot more to it now including a toilet that I ended up storing in the closet for emergencys. Check it out if you want to in my playlist here>>>>>>> ruclips.net/p/PLx4vrrK_MpaclvmJ7tPzega13-5VnQXIk
So clever! You've done a great job. You make me realize you can really make a comfortable livable space without a lot of money. That fold-out kitchen is great!
luke, you are amazing! I want to find a decent van to convert myself.. I was concerned I didn't have the skill until now. Once I saw your build, I realized that it doesn't matter how nice it is the first time or any time as long as it functions. Thanks so much for helping me see I can do this!
I think you're doing a great job. You have some good ideas. I'm LOVIN that the whole thing is all homemade. I can tell you like it but I'd lose the lamp if I were you & put in a mounted swing arm lamp that can be folded back against the wall when not in use...just a suggestion.
WOW! This is fab-u-lous... I've seen videos of others who live in their vans full time and don't have the facility and comfort of what you have put together. So clever with a place for everything and everything in its place. Looks like a tiny home on wheels to me. I commend you for a job well done.
Thanks, I've done a lot more to it now check out my updated tour here ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html . I work on the highways and get laid off every winter. We've been thinking of doing like the birds and going south for the winter. We could live in the van and search for warmer climates.
I have the same van 1978 i bought a month ago ,same color. l'm preparing it ,your idea of the kitchen inside out is the best .From Puerto Rico saludos!! Keep going you're doing very nice.
I have one now as well as solar panels. There's also a lot more things I did to the van in my updated tour right here>>>ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html&index=21&list=PLx4vrrK_MpaclvmJ7tPzega13-5VnQXIk
you are the most resourceful and wise van owner. i need ideas from like...wise people. i'm seeing too many trendy and annoying af hipsters slaving over a van just for the clout
This is much better than any pre made rv, trailer, or van. The way they make them at the stores are crap. And what they charge is highway robbery Great job Luke!
That is the most genius kitchen idea I have ever seen! I am impressed, good sir! Now I kind of wish I build the kitchen of my van on the passenger side rather than the driver side...
You can get a shower tent that looks like a teepee that could be separate from the van and have your potty inside. Simple to use and still have a battery-operated pump to spray water on you for a shower. You have done good for someone who is humble enough to admit he doesn't do this for a living.
You are doing a great job. Some very unique ideas. The kitchen area swing out was ingenious. You might want to consider adding a solar component for power.
I like your re- do, my goodness a lot of room... love the pipe cup holder, genius ...smart thinking those latches.. I even like you drawers by the bed...Wow love the tv swivel...oh my gosh pluming pipe for the swivel. what ever works coat hanger works.. Wow love the outdoor kitchen you are a smart. I like the setting area good idea, finding that setting are out of a RV and using it. Great idea dolly for a mount. Yes your right excellent shower area with the open doors. Will there be steps on the back to step up into the van. I like the entire set up you did Great details..
You really have done a nice job. You took what you had and made it work so far. I look forward to seeing what else you end up doing to your van. I'm always looking for ideas because I'm going to retire this way, and I did get a couple of good ideas from you. Thanks!
Great idea with the swing out kitchen cabinent! Looking for ideas for a tiny house that my daughter and I can use for a tiny home we are building together. Thanks.
I like those cup holders and swivel mount ..that's good ole Kentucky engineering I heard that accent and knew you were from KY. I spent my teenage years in a lil town called "London" in KY gettin ready to watch your school bus video. good job.
I read the comments first and I agree with CB; Please remove that bracket on the right side in which you attach your swinging sink, table to. It really could hurt someone by accident. Use a bungee cord and hook it on the front lip of the rear wheel. Back when states had full car inspection they would fail people who had ripped sheet metal on the body as it could catch someone's clothing if they brushed up the side of a moving vehicle and drag or cut them. You would feel worse if some kid got hurt on that thing if you were camping and they were catching a frisbee or football and ran into that when the door was closed. I think your idea for the shower is Great! Use heavy duty magnets to temporarily attach the awning to the body of the van, top and sides. Nice build otherwise!
I could use a 1 inch round neodymium magnet that I have left over from a pma alternator conversion. That would hold the door open very well and would be safe. Thanks for the suggestions.
Thanks Luke for this great vid. Nice seeing it from before the beginning. I bought a Swing Away tow bar that does what you explained for your back end. Works great as it allows both doors to open all the way and create a bath n shower between those two back doors. I just have to figure out how to keep the inside lights from coming on when those doors are opened. I'm sure it's just a fuse somewhere. Enjoyed your Ammo Can build too! :-)
I pulled the light bulbs out of my interior lights. I use battery powered led lights for lighting the interior. They can be individually controlled and they don't drain the house battery.
Back when I did this they didn't have the cheap mounts they do now. I had to improvise. It turned out to work pretty well. You have to occasionally oil the joints or spray them with WD-40 to keep them movable.
the 300 is a great engine alittle hard on fuel but run forever, I have a 63 ford with a 170 inline and it runs like a champ hates pump gas needs lead substitute , I like the kitchen swing out, and the black pipe for the tv swivel, stand with drawers is good size and fits nicely next to the two camper seats ( the camper seats you could cut down and make each a one seater use patio cushions to give u more space ) I do figure u will convert to the camper bed out of them , if you got any salvage yards see it they have an rvs/classb vans u never know what u may be able to reuse , anyways best of luck and have fun
Yeah, I like that little six, it would be a lot better with the overdrive transmission though. Cruising speed is about 50 MPH with the three speed. I ended up cutting a piece that fits between the seats and it makes a pretty good bed although a little bit short but its not bad.
Thanks so much for sharing your van build. (: The first thing I"d do is pull out that carpet and lay some vinyl flooring, 1 its easier to clean, not to mention its cheaper to use a broom than it is to run a vacuum, 2 I"d add some inexpensive solar paneling ,best place for that would be Amazon, and last but definitely not least I would insulate the fan, and it wouldn"t hurt to grab one of those buddy heaters, also from Amazon. Other than that, for a first build you"re doing fantastic, and your imagination as worked very well for you, I look forward to seeing more.
LOL I already took care of pretty much all of that. Turns out the heater I built puts out more than enough for the factory insulation. I've got an updated tour here>>>ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html
Hi, Love your kitchen on the door. Outdoor cooking is great sometimes. Amazom has the complete Portable solar shower units for less than $20. that might save you a step. Great work, keep going.
I liked your van, very roomy and spacious. I would like to see how your bed arrangement works from those two small sofas. One caveat: the clamp that holds your kitchen door open against the side of the van, that could be very dangerous and I would suggest changing it to a flush mounted clasp (could use a recessed marine cabinet latch, which would be safer). Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment. I just did an updated tour video yesterday and actually just finished processing it. It will answer your questions about the beds(there are two) and also addresses the outside door latch, which was also a concern for me. Check it out here if you have time>>>>> ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html
Some great ideas: hope you don't mind if I borrow some. I think that closet would be a great place for the toilet-very private. I know you already have an idea for locating that, but I'm jealous of all that space!
as far as lighting goes use as much LED lights as possible because they don't use very much power. As for the spare tire, maybe mount it underneath the rear of the van? This is how my Euro Ford van has it. When i need it i need to crank it down to be able to drag it from under the van. That shower idea is great. I just might do the same thing.
hi Luke I just watched the video not a bad deal I have a 1990 Dodge B250 full conversion van I myself and planning on extending it into a camper van to do some traveling I was going to buy an RV Class C or Class B but why I have everything I need it's my own on Wheels if I decide to use it that way I will build a bed in the back and play storage underneath also I plan on getting solar panels so I can power the inside without the engine running just like everybody else does it I wish you the best of luck finishing your van I hope I don't run into any problems with mine but if I do it's trial and error I have approximately three hundred thousand miles on mine it's been well maintained would not be scared to take it across the United States and back also eventually I'd like to go up into Vancouver Canada and check out that part of the country since I'm an east coast native this is the time of my life to enjoy life on the highway good luck to yourself as they say in the Navy weigh anchor and Full Speed Ahead
Everette Holland Solar panels are the way to go. I got some on mine now and they work great. If you maintain a vehicle properly, it will last a long time. I have a 68 Chevy truck with 600,000 miles on it,and I'd drive it anywhere. I wish you luck.
I love the swinging sink cabinetry and the closet. Have you thought about putting the dinette from back to front and making it long enough to sleep in, put it up against the wall and move your side table to the other side?
It actually sleeps pretty good for my wife and I the way it is. I guess for someone taller than me it would be a little tight. When I was first mocking it up I put it in like you're saying but I noticed it blocked off the doors so I didn't have the aisle down the middle. I still occasionally haul lumber in the van and I can still get 12 foot long boards in there and still close the doors.
I did an updated van tour video if you would like to check it out, I've made a lot of improvements. it's here>>>>> ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html
great job!! my husband & I are planning on doing something similar with our "camper" its a truck bed trailer with a camper shell on it. keep making these videos, super job!
I just got done watching it, super impressed! I wish I could show you a picture of our "camper" I'm so excited to work on ours...Probably been driving hubby crazy lol Are you on facebook? I am & we also have a business of sorts, we repurpose items. Its called Rebecca's Repurposed Relics, look us up on facebook. Hubby's a welder so all metal work is his & the woodwork is mine.
I would like to see your camper. It's fun to build a camper and come up with ways to do things to suit you. I've got Facebook but I'm not on there very often. I'll try to look you up.
Lovin it. Nice work. We just got an 88 model Econoline conversion van. Very similar.Gave 1200 bucks for it and drove it over 200 miles home. Runs n drives like new.Been working on it a little as I can.Low funds and have to work slow due to disability. It's coming along though. Check it out and let me know what ya think Luke. See ya out there.
If you would like to see my updated tour video I just got it put up. It shows the improvements I have made to the van since I made the last one. ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html
If you enjoyed this van tour, I am also in the process of building a school bus conversion to an rv. If you are interested here is a link to the playlist. ruclips.net/video/3oRt5IA-aBs/видео.html
Your simple solution for being able to swing out your cook station and cook meals outside is the most elegant that I've seen by far.
Thanks, that's one of my favorite features as well. I am building out a skoolie now and trying to figure out how to get the outdoor kitchen in it too.
I have to say this is the most useful van conversion YT video I have seen so far.
Thank's, I appreciate that!
ok I have looked at about 100 of these kinds of videos...this is true genius! Best build I have seen yet. Bug out ready almost!
Thank you! I appreciate that!
luke Fugate just letting you know I whole hearted mean that. This would actually be a real bug out wagon.
I agree, this van build showcases Luke's ingenuity. Great job man!
*LDS* S. your doing just fine keep it simple! KEEP TRAVELLING😃
DrBill I've got the solar panels, but I need better batteries.
minute 9:40 - BRILLIANT!! Wonderful Design!! one of The BEST Builds EVER!!
Thanks, it's came in handy a lot of times now.

Some great ideas here! I particularly like the "fold-out kitchen!" Well done.
ive been in self built Campers since 1966. You did an Excellent JOB. COACHMAN Indistries from Indiana is how they got their start. You did well. thanks for the intersting video. I enjoyed it.
good eye for layout, and camping is supposed to be funky and fun but functional too. Your getting it covered!
angie royall Thanks! I've got a lot more done now. It's comfortable to camp in. Check out my latest videos, on it.
Omg. You gave me an ideal with your out door kitchen. Love it, love it. Thanks
That clip sticking out the side of the van looks like a safety hazard, though.
I ended up removing it and using a neodymium magnet to hold the door open.
How did you hang your entire kitchen off of the inside of that door ? What did you use to fasten it to the door, and is there any danger of it coming off the door when you open it up ?

ahkay I shall check it out
Wonderful. I like the swinging monitor holder and kitchen. Very creative.
Well done, good for you. I love these videos. People like your self have are gifted, and are an inspiration
Thank you.
the closet would have been a great spot to add the shower...... I REALLY like how the sink area can be used for outdoors.....I think I Will use that idea...thanks
Sweet! gives me inspiration. I really liked your table lamp, and the swing out kitchen!. Makes the van cozier. Some of those other vans are way to expensive to redue! thanks!
Great job, nice use of space. Thanks for posting !
I like the inside. you could use a pop up shower & toilet tent. they store as a flat round disk
First time I've seen where the kitchen can roll out with the other door. Ingenious. Like a lot of what you've done.
Thank you very much!
From all camper van "tour" videos, this is the best. Apparently fit to my budget. Good work.
Thanks. It all works good so far, check out the rest of the build in my Ford camper van playlist.
Great Job in progress. Just remember a porta potty from Camping world when you are in bad weather.
Thank you. I've done a lot more to it now including a toilet that I ended up storing in the closet for emergencys. Check it out if you want to in my playlist here>>>>>>> ruclips.net/p/PLx4vrrK_MpaclvmJ7tPzega13-5VnQXIk
I thought about putting a hula hoop over the top 2 doors when they are open and attach a shower curtain to it. make that your shower.
You just gave me a great idea! Thanks BIG JOE!
BIG JOE 245 Damn now I got to thinkin bout it, my 97 Tahoe got barn doors so now it's usefull for something! Thanks!
SIR YOU ARE TOO SMART
To make the sink work. You need a fountain pump small. Some hoses and a switch. And a 10 gallon water tank under the sink.
So clever! You've done a great job. You make me realize you can really make a comfortable livable space without a lot of money. That fold-out kitchen is great!
Thanks, check out the rest of my van playlist. I'm still working on it.
ruclips.net/p/PLx4vrrK_MpaclvmJ7tPzega13-5VnQXIk
Great idea for the monitor swivel!
Thanks. My son uses it more than I do, but it works well.
Really genius the way the counter swivels out to cook. Love the hanger use. Love it.
Thanks!
luke, you are amazing! I want to find a decent van to convert myself.. I was concerned I didn't have the skill until now. Once I saw your build, I realized that it doesn't matter how nice it is the first time or any time as long as it functions. Thanks so much for helping me see I can do this!
glad I could be of help. Hope your build goes good.
I truly love seeing creative people put their thoughts into action! This is awesome!
I like it. Giving me ideas just in case I have to move from my apartment to a van.
Smart guy...love that ideal with the door swinging opened n cooking outside
Thanks, it's a lot better cooking outside, too much heat build up inside the van.
I think it's great. I just love how that cabinet swings open with the side door.😯😃😎 I love the old fashioned look.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
You're so creative. My favorites are the indoor/outdoor kitchen & the tv mount. Hope you have lots of fun with this!
Having a lot of good times. Were planning to use it this weekend. I actually used it at work today, cooked lunch for the whole crew.
How cool is that sink/cabinet! Good job!
I think you're doing a great job. You have some good ideas. I'm LOVIN that the whole thing is all homemade. I can tell you like it but I'd lose the lamp if I were you & put in a mounted swing arm lamp that can be folded back against the wall when not in use...just a suggestion.
GRAMMIE DEBI Thanks for the suggestion.
WOW! This is fab-u-lous... I've seen videos of others who live in their vans full time and don't have the facility and comfort of what you have put together. So clever with a place for everything and everything in its place. Looks like a tiny home on wheels to me. I commend you for a job well done.

ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html .
Maybe you need what they call battery isolator to charge the second battery while the engine is running
I have one now as well as solar panels. There's also a lot more things I did to the van in my updated tour right here>>>ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html&index=21&list=PLx4vrrK_MpaclvmJ7tPzega13-5VnQXIk
that kitchen on the door is the slickest thing I've ever seen.great idea.. thanks
Thank you.
Swinging your kitchen outside? Brilliant. Wow. You've done a really good job. And you can use a microwave. I am impressed.
I've watched so many campervan videos. This is pure genius. Best one on youtube hands down. Great job brother!
Thanks! I've got a lot more done on it now. Check out my Ford Van playlist.ruclips.net/p/PLx4vrrK_MpaclvmJ7tPzega13-5VnQXIk

Hell yeah! Nothing better than backwoods ingenuity ! Great work brother.
Wowo822 Wowo82 Thank you!
It looks lovely and I love how its all arranged so neatly inside.
Colour outside is so nice.
Enjoy your travels.
Thanks.
cool old van love it
thanks!
you are the most resourceful and wise van owner. i need ideas from like...wise people. i'm seeing too many trendy and annoying af hipsters slaving over a van just for the clout
Sweet van! I think the vacuum gauge was in the drawer with the remote control to measure how much it sucks watching DVD's while camping.
Good one! lol.
This is much better than any pre made rv, trailer, or van. The way they make them at the stores are crap. And what they charge is highway robbery Great job Luke!

Thanks, it works really well so far.
Absolute awesomeness !!!!! You blew my mind with you hacks and solutions!!!! You really thought things thru ! Love it, thanks for sharing!
Thank you. It's what we call hillbilly engineering around here.
What wonderful ingenuity!!! Congrats!
Teryl Smith u
You can get a shower tent that looks like a teepee that could be separate from the van and have your potty inside. Simple to use and still have a battery-operated pump to spray water on you for a shower. You have done good for someone who is humble enough to admit he doesn't do this for a living.
I picked up a shower tent recently and I'll make a video showing it soon just haven't had time to fool with it recently.
You are doing a great job. Some very unique ideas. The kitchen area swing out was ingenious. You might want to consider adding a solar component for power.
What a great idea this swing-out kitchen! Brilliant! Thanks for the great ideas!
Thanks, I've upgraded a lot of stuff now, check out my updated tour.
Fantastic Van Build! The swing out kitchen is great idea!

Thanks! glad you could use some ideas.
You are very clever and innovative!.. Love your van camper! You did a great job on it..One of the best I have seen..
Good job I like the way you mounted the cabinet on the door .
nice! you could build a small table to fold up and between the seats!
Great idea with the swing out kitchen cabinent! Looking for ideas for a tiny house that my daughter and I can use for a tiny home we are building together. Thanks.
Very good setup! I like how you improvise. Good luck and drive safe!
I like how you did your camper. Thank you for showing it. you have given me some good ideas for when i build one. thank you.
Glad you liked it! Good luck on your build.
I like those cup holders and swivel mount ..that's good ole Kentucky engineering I heard that accent and knew you were from KY. I spent my teenage years in a lil town called "London" in KY gettin ready to watch your school bus video. good job.
Thanks! I've been to London quite a few times. I'm around Hazard area.

Thanks, not much space to use in a van like this.
absolutely love this! my favorite build, spacious, comfortable. Im kicking myself I let my ex sell my extra long ford
!!
marie lynne Thank you.
I am so glad this was reccomend, the tv mount is just what I need
Back when I did this they didn't have the cheap mounts they do now. I had to improvise. It turned out to work pretty well. You have to occasionally oil the joints or spray them with WD-40 to keep them movable.
@@lukeFugate I'm using 2 books to hold a TV only cause the stand is missing and the buttons are on the bottom, I'm scared to move it as its top heavy
I like how the interior all matches the same era of the van it makes it flow real well.
You did a good job w/ the video. Good camera work, good commentary and nice music too. Keep-up the good work.
great job! I have a 1989 Econoline high top and when I do mine I will be sure to incorporate some of your ideas.
Dragon Raptor Good luck on your build, wish mine was a high top.
Nice build, looks like we have the same seats and cab interior.
Thanks. I think they're almost the same van. Mine has the 300 straight six though.
the 300 is a great engine alittle hard on fuel but run forever, I have a 63 ford with a 170 inline and it runs like a champ hates pump gas needs lead substitute , I like the kitchen swing out, and the black pipe for the tv swivel, stand with drawers is good size and fits nicely next to the two camper seats ( the camper seats you could cut down and make each a one seater use patio cushions to give u more space ) I do figure u will convert to the camper bed out of them , if you got any salvage yards see it they have an rvs/classb vans u never know what u may be able to reuse , anyways best of luck and have fun

love the seats. i think you should do a built in camp stove counter with gas personally instead of microwave. but i think it is looking good.
Man I really like your van i used to have a International Harvester years ago I might just get another..
Good job. I love the swing out kitchen idea. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Hi, Love your kitchen on the door. Outdoor cooking is great sometimes. Amazom has the complete Portable solar shower units for less than $20. that might save you a step. Great work, keep going.
Thanks! I'm enjoying building it.
this... is.... amazing! good shit yo!
thanks!
This is fantastic. I just love your genius approach.
Thank you.
love your build so far and I like your future ideas as well...thanks for share ...enjoy.
Cool classic brings back memories
ingenuity.. good to see it lives.. love it!
Some great ideas: hope you don't mind if I borrow some. I think that closet would be a great place for the toilet-very private. I know you already have an idea for locating that, but I'm jealous of all that space!
Glad you like it. I ended up putting the toilet in the closet. I just had to make the doors expand when it is in use to give me enough room.
as far as lighting goes use as much LED lights as possible because they don't use very much power.
It looks great you have done a good job converting it
love your ingenuity so far, keep it coming!
I did an updated van tour video if you would like to check it out, I've
made a lot of improvements. it's here>>>>> ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html
Nice, watch it now.
great job!! my husband & I are planning on doing something similar with our "camper" its a truck bed trailer with a camper shell on it. keep making these videos, super job!
Thanks. Good luck on your build. I have quite a bit more done on it now. Check out my updated tour at ruclips.net/video/JgimTht-vV8/видео.html
I just got done watching it, super impressed! I wish I could show you a picture of our "camper" I'm so excited to work on ours...Probably been driving hubby crazy lol
Are you on facebook? I am & we also have a business of sorts, we repurpose items. Its called Rebecca's Repurposed Relics, look us up on facebook. Hubby's a welder so all metal work is his & the woodwork is mine.
also where you from? we're in Eastern Oklahoma, a little town called Vian, about 70 miles south of Tulsa.
I would like to see your camper. It's fun to build a camper and come up with ways to do things to suit you. I've got Facebook but I'm not on there very often. I'll try to look you up.
luke Fugate yeah that's exactly why we want to do it...so we can make it like we want!
Very, very clever build. Love the kitchen.
Jan and Bruce / Adams Van Adventures Thanks, check out my updated tour of it I've added a lot to it.
Lovin it.
I checked out your channel. Nice looking van.
love the swing out kitchen! awesome job!
If you would like to see my updated tour video I just got it put up. It
shows the improvements I have made to the van since I made the last one.

Ok. Thanks. Will check it out!
Love the old style vans.
Me too, I've always loved classic vehicles.
The indoor/outdoor galley is genius, the motorhome/camper industry will probably copy it when they see this.
Thanks, it's been really handy.
