Yes! Gothic ghost and horror stories are the best! Love M.R. James! Castle of Otranto isn't just old gothic literature, it's considered the first gothic literature!
So many have recommended I read Gene Wolf. I've got to find a copy!

Haha, I completely forgot that Otranto is the first. I definitely had to restrain myself from talking any more about gothic fiction.
“A Borrowed Man” is a good book to try Wolfe out. You can sample his writing and creativity without the committing to a big series.
The pitch is a sci-fi murder mystery where the detective is a clone of a deceased mystery writer and is considered library property. I did a video on that about 5 or 6 months ago if your interest is peaked. 😁
Or dive straight into New Sun and enjoy. I think you’d love it.

YAY! This is so awesome :-) you had some really great & thoughtful answers. And thank you for reminding me that I still need to read Frankenstein… 🫣

Thank you. I had fun with this. 😁
When you do read Frankenstein check out Bernie Wrightson’s illustrations. They are amazing. I could gush about it but just look at “I shall be with you on your wedding night” and I won’t need to say anything.

Great job on the Girl Scout Tag! 🍪
I have been looking at Black Leopard Red Wolf because that Cover is just 🤌, but just like you said the reviews kind of scared me away! So im gonna ignore those now and just get it the next time I see it!

The cover was the first thing that grabbed me too. Then I looked at reviews and started to feel irritated because most of the complaints felt… disingenuous. I’ll just say that.
And I really loved it. Yes, there are graphic, and possibly triggering scenes, but I feel they are never salacious or gratuitous. If you do read it PLEASE let me know what you think. I would love to talk about it.
Don’t let my opinion of the second book keep you from it. I am absolutely willing to accept that my opinion is flawed.
