That Kirby interview was one of the most infuriating things I have ever witnessed, and I believe anyone who actually believes a word he said HAS to have had a full lobotomy.

When a business does it, it's called a kickback. The basis of any neoliberal government is giving public money to private owners, who then give a part of that money back to the politicians holding the purse strings. It's the same concept, just a client state instead of business owners.

Chat doesn't understand that Andre didn't need his friends to die before standing up, he needed them to die before anyone would listen to him if he did; it doesn't matter whether he would have or wouldn't before then. He would never have gotten on the news as just another humanitarian aid organizer speaking against Israel's genocide without having people who are not Palestinian who were killed in such an obviously deliberate way while doing things everyone outside Israel supports by delivering food.

I think that in the short time that Jose Andres was on the ground in Gaza, surrounded by other humanitarian orgs & by the people of Gaza, telling & showing him the reality of what Israel’s been doing & how, went a long towards getting him to the perspective he has now. No doubt that it took 7 of his own aid workers, in such a cruel & calculated way, to get him to finally see the truth of the situation. But, we gotta take our wins where we can find them & this was a big one. I believe that at this point, when he says things like that the IDF has to behave like army that he knows it can be, etc, I think at this point he’s just practicing diplomacy. But he doesn’t truly mean it in the way he did before. Prior to working in Gaza, he truly believed in the Israel that he thought it was. Hasan is right, this is a good thing. It matters that someone like him as been brutally awakened to the reality of what Israel is doing to Gaza & its people. He even said that they can’t blame Khamas for everything lol. And that’s huge imo.

The thing that annoys me the most is the fact that after stating Israel has a right to defend itself, notice how he never validates palestine and always uses middle east instead. It is a very small, but telling detail that displays how he is a shill for Israel even after the death of his workers.
Then you don't understand politics at all. He has to say that, whether he believes it or not, or he won't win over anyone who doesn't already agree Israel is committing genocide. If you value life only based on whether or not you find the company they keep worthy of your support, then you should examine what your values actually are and why. Life is valuable unconditionally.
