Carlson's only W is actually face-to-face interviewing Putin and letting him ramble off his historically mostly truth-based and even intriguing, but nonetheless psychotic rationalizations of his initiatives. Many of his fans are reformed alt-righters or just men who when they were boys spent most of their lives on the internet being edgy and toxic, that's how.

His more moderate fans (the majority from my experience) are currently largely just taking the "technically not a genocide so it's fine" stance and assuming that he's joking every time he voices direct and explicit support for Israel's genocidal campaign. His more extremist fans are the kind of dudes who are r/Atheist redditors who tend towards thinking (non-white) religious people are barbarians undeserving of human rights or perhaps even life, so basically fundamentalist authoritarian zealots but without a religion. There's also straight up fascists ofc, especially recently as D now argues against the type of logic-based arguments he had previously used to refute fascism.
It's a classic youtube "skeptic" move. Build up an impressionable audience, and then slowly or suddenly pull them to the far-right once they start accepting your arguments without healthy skepticism. It's easier to do when they target groups their audience is already primed to think the worst of (so women for the old-school youtube "skeptic", or muslims for D-boy).

I used to think that Destiny had good takes and did his due diligence in researching the facts. By the way on this one Mehdi Hasan exaggerated the number of hostages dead by the IDF. It was actually 31 hostages that the IDF killed Daniel Hagari said according to The Israeli Times
Well, in all fairness Hagari said that 31 have been killed, without specifying who killed them. It could be the relatively conservative number of 10 killed by IDF that Mehdi Hasan said, or a good chunk of the number of 31 killed (after-all why would Hamas kill their own hostages?). Either way, it's being compared to the grand total of 3 hostages the IDF has successfully rescued (with Hamas releasing 109 of them, 105 in the exchange as well as 2 Americans and 2 Israeli women released of Hamas's own volition). Hell, the number of hostages killed could be even higher, since the 31 number is from the IDF themselves reported in an Israeli news article and therefore likely below the actual number.
I believe I got what you are trying to say, that Mehdi Hasan undershot the number of hostages dead by the IDF (not exaggerated ofc, as 10 is less than 31).

*You* are literally who Hasan is talking about in that part, making sure that anyone going against the state dept. narratives who is even incorrect or misled once cannot make up for their mistake ever and calls the entire corpus of analysis they have produced into question.
It was Chomsky who was lost in his comprehensive criticism of anything the state (the U.S. in particular) and its intelligence agency are clearly involved with and benefitting from. Since more trustworthy entities/humans were unable to freely investigate it, this led him to stall on accepting the Khmer Rouge atrocities as true, which was arguably justifiably seen as denial to many (a Chomsky L). Hasan is just referencing how despite being so consistently correct on other foreign and domestic policy, that one L will haunt his reputation forever.
Meanwhile, politicians and state propagandists can speedrun how many lies they fucking say in the state's interest and get away with it for free, even receiving promotions from it.
