@@mito88 I Agree, Exactly... Best for whom? When your expenses match or exceed your income out of necessity and because of a financial system setup to benefit the rich and elite the blue color worker and the poor become Literally slaves... Legally ... Even if they are not called that. In a fair and just society which aims to provide equality to everyone, the average workers rent should never exceed one week of his labor and all his living expenses and taxes should never exceed another week of his income, and he should always be able to have a NET income of one half of all his labors to save or spend on his/her family. I will keep dreaming because the interest of every entity focused on making profit is in conflict with social equity by its fundamental existence. I am for law and order, but I am also for social justice, and for a universal income system indexed to inflation and other systems of checks and balances to achieve the above financial goals of the individual.

Honestly, as someone who has been all levels of poor and middle class (I have been both unemployed and in the verge of eviction and a well to do socialite who earned almost twice the average and spent his weekends with doctors and lawyers - I'm now back to lower-middle class), I can safely say that the whole rich getting richer thing wouldn't bother "the rest of us" so much if "the rich" (not all, some) wouldn't spend so much time making sure "the rest of us" remained dirt poor.
Yup she is part of the super rich. Most likely working with the super rich to get her retirement funds ready, same with Trudeau. I wonder how much money Singh is getting for helping them out.
The rich are already over taxed. If you tax even more you take the incentive out of of new investment and jobs disappear Here’s a tip, If you want to get ahead go work harder like the rich do and stop waiting for others to give it to you.
no tax is needed because government spending sucks, just enforce the giant companies to pay their employees a certain percentage of profit, any countries which don't follow this law would get kicked out from global trade.
@@joef1551 that's not true at all.. Taxes incourage the rich to invest in their business to avoid paying tax.. That's what Bezos does. The reason he doesn't pay any tax is because he invests so much money into Amazon to help it grow. Taxing the rich actually helps the economy. It doesn't actually tax anyone because they spend the money rather than holding it. Unless they are idiots.

Ken Clow Freeland supports Mike Pompeo and Trump with the coups on socialist governments like Bolivia. You guys are indoctrinated. The implication that the last 75 years haven’t been OUR bombs killing people, is ridiculous. The responder wasn’t “defending communism”. He was accurately exposing your cliche stump speech of inaccurate labels. US (so Canada too) support 70% of dictators. The last 75 years are our bombs killing for profit, or sanction regulations, that Cons cheerlead and Libs support. There are plenty of examples of democratic socialist governments working. When it happens in South America, the CIA destroys it and supports the Pinochets of the world. The question is, what do you think communism is? Or socialism? Stalin and Mao are not the only examples. That’s like saying Hillary Clinton is a capitalist like Teddy Roosevelt. I’ll take George Orwell over Canadian and American conservative jargon. You guys should try it. Hint: Orwell wrote more than Animal Farm and 1984.
12:30 "The terrifying reality is that there is no economic rule which automatically translates increased economic growth into widely shared prosperity" She says exactly the opposite these days. When asked in Parliament about the debt, inflation, housing crisis etc, and how that effects people in Canada, she said "don't worry, we have increased economic growth" and punctuated the statement with a series of evil grins. I think something happened to twist this lady heart, and make her disconnected from her own humanity. She is now our most corrupt Finance minister and worst ever Deputy Prime Minister to boot.
She's on the executive board of a very powerful global organization that doesn't have humanity's interest at heart. I can't say which organization because my comment will be censored.
Oh no, she announced her plan clwarly right at the end. Reimagine our financial system. Now that they have reached the breaking point we all start back at zero but the elites will gather uo everything first.
the capital gains tax does the exact opposite of what you just said -_- it taxes their profit, which makes the capitalist class less dominant on the economy
Increasing tax and killing mid-class are very wrong, but that's Canadian government is doing. Look at how many taxes mid-class are paying? GST, PST, property tax, carbon tax, EI, CPP, all kinds of licensing fees and regulatory charges, and don't forget income tax!

We're taught that feudalism ended 200+ years ago and humanity gained democracy, freedom. But the empirical fact is, since then the feudals have only been pondering "where did we go wrong?" scheming and establishing elaborate ways to ensure something like French Revolution never happens again.
Precisely. But they are also still feuding amongst themselves, and it won't end until one clan controls it all. Your comment set me off, lol. I just studied the Fr. Rev for 5 or 6 hours last night. Every minute was more amazing than the previous. Cults of Logic and Reason, murdering, irradicating, Bishops and priests, dechristianizing, it's like , "Holy fack!" (pun intended). The most amazing and pertinent fact though? Napoleon. As a military leader he was a supporter of the Republic, and key to the revolution's success. But then seized power in a coup, and declared himself Emperor. Then he conquered Austria-Hungary, Western Rhineland/ Germany and Nederlands, and declared himself Emperor of all of them. But he also conquered Rome! And just gave France back to the Pope. All of it, back to the church! Napoleon was not even French. He was installed as leader just to break the Republic. This comment was way longer but I deleted it all, lol. Just amazing stuff. Peace

In the 1950s, a typical CEO made 20 times the salary of his or her average worker. Last year, CEO pay at an S&P 500 Index firm soared to an average of 361 times more than the average rank-and-file worker, or the pay of $13,940,000 a year, according to an AFL-CIO's Executive Paywatch news release today. I also question this presentation from Ms Freeland who's government just gave Loblaws a very profitable Canadian Corporation $12 million for a retrofit of new energy efficient refrigeration equipment? Will the liberal government be paying for a corner store that wants to replace their refrigeration equipment?
The problem lies in how, realizing the finite wealth on this Earth, the more one person obtains, immediately results in how much less everyone else has access to. Exellent speech.
Agreed! As a long-time engineer who has automated many processes & machines, this factor has been at the top of my list of social concerns. My career involved automation of scientific devices which freed high-caliber scientists to focus on fresh research without the tedium that often is associated w/ their work in repetitive tasks; but automation of less challenging workers' efforts will unemploy many low-pay workers too. This will require new ways to approach equitable gov't policies. cont.
Don’t worry these less than useful workers will just collect welfare. Talking to uneducated people is like talking to a wall, they do not have the IQ or EQ to comprehend anything other than their own sense of survival, that would include stealing or scamming or victimizing themselves but never getting an education to comprehend and engage in intellectual exchange of idea with other intellects. That’s the reality of the situation. My company prefer to hire such people instead of more intellectual people, though they are well paid positions. I have thrown in the towel to try to change things. I suppose the social structure is like this. As things progress we do not need low skill workers and yet governments are still importing them in with open door policies.
"I'm even more of a fan of globalization" - sure, so your local economy becomes solely based on real estate, mindless services, and non-constructive investments with absolutely no manufacturing at all. Self-sufficiency is the way to go, globalization is for goods that complement what you already manufacture locally.
Anti-Trust laws don't break monopolies, they simply hurt successful businesses. Note that anti-trust suits are NEVER brought to court by consumers but ALWAYS by competitors who want to server their own interests. The super rich have power only because the politicians have the power to tell us what to do by force. Just ask Susette Kelo who it was that took her house by force.
Since the conservative shift in the 1980s, we have shifted resources from the general population and given them to the top 1%. We cut spending on education, research, infrastructure, workforce, poverty, etc. to provide tax cuts for the rich. The result is what one would expect: incomes didn't go up, upward mobility declined, poverty increased, educ fell..but the rich is doing great! The country did much better with a moderate approach and by investing in the country's shared progress.
Low interest rates and consumerist culture (driven by ads, social media) encourage regular people to borrow money to spend. Stagnate income and inflation force people to borrow money to spend. Money printed out of thin air (from borrowing and quantitative easing) goes to the super-rich, and they hold on to that wealth. This is how the super-rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. To get out of this, raise interest rate (to discourage people from over-borrowing), lower inflation to 0% (to encourage people to save), and stop giving money printed out of thin air to the super-rich.
An otherwise excellent TED speech. HOWEVER, it really needs graphs & charts to visualize the extremes she speaks of. For most, the figures are nearly incomprehensible. It’s getting so commonplace to hear the terms billion$ and trillion$. Imagine that a trillion SECONDS equals 31.7 years!
No charts necessary, look at her actual performance in real life. She's the Minister of Everything so we shall see how much wealth she transfers upward.
Nail guns and sprayers aren't a form of automation. Those are just incremental improvements for the same workers to use to do the same job in a slightly faster way. Automation would be things like ATMs, robots that build cars, lumber mill systems that load, plan and cut trees into wood, etc... And what those tools did was reduce the workforce needed to do a given job, thereby requiring that some of the workforce learn the new way to do things while others had to find other jobs to do.
I agree with her, minus the stats she provides. My main reason is due to how things feel, you feel the wage stagnation for almost 20 years in my line of work, the rising healthcare cost, the rising taxes as well as the hidden tax of inflation. My wife and I both work, she works 60 hours a week for the largest cell phone provider in the US, and I work an average of 63.5hrs a week for the biggest intermodal trucking company in america. We have no kids, rent and that's it and yet have nothing
I believe there is a solution (although there's no such thing as a perfect one): remove centralized power bases that have the authority to dole out advantages. The obsession with giving too much power over the market to a single group (government) has backfired and caused even MORE concentration of wealth than we've ever seen. Trying to "regulate" the market, especially to the extreme levels that we see today has failed. Govt can't solve all of our problems. Sometimes they end up creating them.
True until the market collapses and all the capitalists cry for the government to print them a bunch of money 😆 government regulation is a necessary evil.
You know what the beautiful thing about freedom is, choices. You've made your choices and now it sounds like you don't like the results. Too bad. Nobody owes you anything. The super rich, they got there by making the right choices.

GDP is way up because technology- not because employees are working harder and for less money. All the companies she mentions all have the worlds highest paid employees in the world and no unions except for amazon in germany. In the 80s, 1 in 10 employees at microsoft were millionaires all because of 2 people. how many other millionaires is it responsible for and is never talked about in talks like this. she might have mentioned that Gates and Buffet alone are giving away more money than all the 1% had in the last century. A trolley car driver in san francisco makes over 75k with almost full pay after retirement. This is job almost anyone could do and would love to do. that is just one example and could be reason more people don't have jobs. The new bay bridge cost 5 billion over what it should have and took 25 years to build. thank heaven they have the super rich in the bay area to tax and pay for it. I assure you no one who worked on it was underpaid. too many of the 99% make too mush money in the US for the skill level when there are many with better skills could do the job better. she might have mention that these are some of the smartest and well run companies in the world and US is lucky to have them.
It's the red dress! Now as the deputy PM of Canada, you'd like to think that her knowledge of these numbers she's vomited on this poor audience, might have carried over to benefit her " native Canada." I'm so glad she had this opportunity to hear herself speak.
It would be easier to convince people to back solving this problem if there were first a crack down on tax evasion/havens. Usually, taxes just go up on the middle class and the big fish are left entirely alone.
4:55 Increasing business taxes is mentioned, which means increasing taxes on consumers, because the cost of the tax gets added into the purchase price of the product/service.
Once we spot the problems with humanity, it's important to put energy into creating the solutions (collaborative consumption, science of happiness, techno labor, etc...). It's math. Put less energy into staring at the problem and more energy into CREATING solutions. It's time for a maker revolution.
Wow. I like to feel that I'm a somewhat educated person. Ms. Freeland must have had a great view of my scalp as she talked over it. However, I'm not sure this wasn't intended. It's easy to convince someone you know what your talking about when you use a lot of jargon. The talk could have used a little less jargon and more charts and graphs to help us understand.
It still doesn't change the fact that banking and financial markets are the most heavily regulated industries that exist. There is nothing to suggest more regulation would have prevented the problems. Nor is there reason to believe that the "right" regulations would have ever come about. Numerous organizations kept saying that the housing market is fine. Is this due to low budget? Doubtful considering others were pointing to the signs that the housing market was unsound and they ignored it.
Gee, thanx for educating me! As an engineer who spent much of my 35 year career automating processes & machines, such observations never crossed my mind or caught my attention. ; ]
That's the problem: you CAN'T regulate most markets, because you inevitably turn into a massive bribery organization, making things ten times worse. When you take up the right to choose winners and losers in the market you also inevitably become the ultimate advantage for those who can gain your favor. You give powerful people an incentive to try to buy you off. Nearly everyone has a price. With all of this emphasis on "regulators", nobody can answer the question "Who regulates the regulators?
Exactly. You just made the case for Anarchism. The power of the central government to interfere in economic activity MUST BE TAKEN AWAY. This is the key issue. That is why we are struggling with an "economic crisis." Nullification and secession will accomplish this goal.
Exactly, she is Canada's finance minister if you don't know. And the growing unaffordability for the middle class under her watch is INSANE. Times were better for the middle class under her Conservative predecessor.
I believe it started with the "One-China Policy". It did help China rise to the occasion as financial power and also open up the labor market of other developing countries. Yes it was a good deed but what had happened was Fortune 400's biggest and richest American jump and utilize that market. It left behind middle class Americans with no job, even losing their homes. Our political leaders maybe good policy makers but their not shaker nor movers cause they're not in our financial bracket. Now how are we reverse the action or recover what we lost by not hurting these rising economies?
Today, she is deputy prime minister of Justin Trudeau, who has thrown the economy of Freeland's native Alberta into never before seen unemployment. She's wise to run in Toronto instead of Alberta. She understands that communism also creates two classes, workers and elite. Guess which one she landed on.
This was a weird statement. Those dropping employment numbers were caused by Alberta being a price taker when it comes to oil, and having a culture that spends more during the boom time

And we're seeing the results of socialism in Western Europe; bankruptcy, riots, high taxes, and huge inefficiencies. But there is hope in Sweden precisely because they are moving towards a free market system! They have been cutting taxes, abolishing various other taxes, a relatively low corporate tax rate, trade unions have been shrinking, wages have been rising, welfare is offered through the private sector, public spending is down, etc. We do need to learn from Sweden indeed!
If corporations weren't taking advantage of ways to move their money around to pay less taxes, then they would just charge the customer more for the goods/services to make up the extra cost of doing business. In the end, the CONSUMER, is the one that pays ALL of the taxes. Sales Tax, Income Tax, Corporate Taxes (via the revenue they get from their customers).

It’s not a zero sum game. And inequality is not an issue. Unless you are ungrateful and simple minded. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting richer, just at a slower rate. Their purchasing power has gone way up which is why the poorest in the west all have flat screens, cell phones, refrigerators, cars, but yes tell me how life is hard in Canada and America. Inequality between the developing world and the undeveloped has been shrinking for decades now. It is only within the developed world that “inequality” is increasing. Which just means the rich are getting richer at a greater speed than the poor are getting richer. Simple minded dummies think that billionaires make their money by stealing it from others or taking advantage of the system, a childish naive view, and not by offering a good or service that people voluntarily purchase.
The Chrystia Freeland talking here is not the same person that is our current deputy PM. She made it should like she gives a hoot about income equality, but, working with Trudeau in the 8 years since the problem has only gotten worse.
This talk is interesting inasmuch as watching it almost 7 years later, it's fairly apparent that the situation has not improved but has worsened, even if the polarisation of wealth isn't discussed in a similar detail that much today. When you move beyond the concept of cash as wealth you are left with the assets that support the values of the many forms of cash, and the value of these assets changes almost overnight in many cases as the values of various types of cash compete with each other. If you look beyond the jargon in this vodeo, the value of assets, land, minerals, oil, and such like are driven by desirability, and it is the consumer, all classes of people, who rack up the changes in desirability, as they in turn are manipulated to desire one asset and what can be produced from it over another. With the intrinsic values of cash it is similar, and yet the desirability that affects relative national cash values is altered by a very restricted portion of the world's population as a whole, and this minscule element of the human race can fairly easily determine which form of cash is to be the winner in the battles and trade wars that seek to secure control of the desired and so valued assets. Cash of course is not real in itself, it is just the promise of someone, usually a nation or perhaps its national bank and/or those that support it, to allow these promisary notes to be redeemed for assets, and the real secret of wealth, cash or assets, is not to own them but to be able to control them and those who must use them in their daily lives to acquire that which they desire. So the answer to the conundrum seem to be to become self supporting and to live outsideof the desirable assets race, as far as is possible, and for each individual to take back control of the efforts that they make to live and support their families. But then you come back to the value of the land to do this on, and who controls the land values as the basic asset of self support, and again you meet desire as the wish to own that land. Possesion is not nine tenths of the law, it is 10 tenths of the law if you control desirability, and as the circle of possesions turns, those who posses become the possesed who can be controlled by the institutions that allow them to call themselves owners. Possesing and being possesed feels safer than sharing and asking others to share with you and yours, and ultimately it just feels more secure to live in the prison of aquired wealth, where you can seem to know your place in the prisoners hierarchy of economy and to obey the gaurds and those who control whatever is traded to meet the prisoner's desires, than it is to trust yourself and other people in a free society that can learn to recognise and respect individual human needs and their boundaries.

This video has a lot of good info. The US unemployment rate is more than 20 percent and the US middle class is trending toward 50% of the population, not 65%. Most of modern technology is destroying jobs. And foreign imports are hurting US jobs including IT. In 1975 a typical mfr plant might have 2,000 workers. By 1990, the same production could be made by less than 200 workers or about 10%.
+David de Lancey Do a reality check, dude. With more than 92 million citizens without a full-time job the REAL unemployment rate is at least 20 percent. The official govt figure is fixed for economic and political reasons. A 5% rate "justifies" bringing foreign workers into the US.
Kenneth Sumerford No it really isn't dude. The REAL unemployment rate as you put it by taking 92 million over the total population is a bullshit figure. Any body that knows anything about economics knows that you have to take the EAP (Economically active population) into account. You cannot take retirees, children or housewives (or husbands) into consideration when working out the unemployment rate. It has been done that since the existence and measurement of the unemployment rate. Know if you like you can take the U6 rate which is at 9.9%. But if anything that one is a bullshit rate that is used for political and economic reasons. *A 5% rate "justifies" bringing foreign workers into the US.* Really?? and who is justifying this specifically? Considering it just reached 5 percent last week, I highly doubt anyone has been advocating bringing in foreign workers with that statistic.
+David de Lancey I was an engineer designing new electronics for jets, age 57 when Obama was elected. I resolved that week to never work again if he is Pres. Get the facts instead of defend an ideology. Social security greatly reduced poverty among the elderly. The GI Bill was a huge success and was a primary factor in driving economic growth for decades. If anything is a failure, it is the conservative shift that started in the 1980s. Since then, incomes have not gone up (except for the top 1%), poverty has gone up, upward mobility has gone down, education outcomes have gone down, etc. Why? Because we stopped investing to give tax cuts to rich.
Social Security is a wage tax, and if wages hadn't decoupled from productivity, it would be completely funded. Problem is, more of the profits moved into areas that aren't captured by a wage tax. So a system designed for workers to help retired workers then head trouble funding itself
Thanks to the government, the internet is still plagued with inefficiencies abuses, misallocations, etc. But thanks to private entrepreneurs, we have everything that is glorious about the internet.
We need to focus on education to bring unskilled workers into the higher-tech realm where their efforts transcend hum-drum work, but challenges more citizens to join in on innovation. Noam Chomsky's Anarcho-Syndicalism that better engages workers in corporate profits may be part of the solution. For sure, the plutocratic & inherited wealth problems need addressing now at both public & private levels before they destroy our societies, and turn many into helpless pawns without social mobility.
Freeland articulated the evolution of the plutocracy and that they have manipulated the economic structure to better service themselves, in a clinical manner but offered only a green new deal. I could not help noticing no solutions were offered - at least not details of how that green new deal was going to be administered or if at all. It appears from this thread that Freeland's exposure of some facts, shook up some of these plutocrats.
@@markusaurelius777 : I don't know what you're babbling about. You should try being a little more articulate when you write so people can at least come close to figuring out what you're trying to say. It doesn't sound like Freeland is your favourite person nor is she mine but even though I have a loathing for our government in Canada because it practices autocratic rule under the misleading moniker of democracy, it doesn't mean I can't give this woman credit for her ability. So we understand one another, I recognize she is a good speaker, it's too bad she uses her one quality ability to promote a corrupt system of politics. There isn't a political party in Canada that represents democracy or the people in Canada. Every last political party in Canada, whether Federal or Provincial are corrupt and are stealing from the working class while Canadians are sitting back and doing nothing about it. They keep flip flopping back and fourth voting for one party then the opposition thinking they're going to get some worthy and meaningful change between Liberal and Conservative. In the federal arena and provincially, it's between the three parties across Canada with the exception of Quebec who hasn't fared any better than the rest of the country. We need a real democracy in Canada where our laws are determined by the voting public and where government is not permitted to make any laws. Switzerland's political system is structured this way since the year1209 . Only the voting public makes the laws in Switzerland via referendum. It's called "Direct Democracy". In Switzerland anyone can propose a new law or an existing law to be revoked or modified and the general consensus determines whether that proposal will be enacted or rejected. Imagine the power of the public having a platform to have your voice heard. We could stop this corrupt system in its tracks. We could get back to "for the people by the people" instead of "for the corporations by the corporations". This is a long topic and deserves some thought if we are ever going to get out from under the ruling classes thumb and corrupt politicians who prop up these corporations. When you hear the word "subsidies" that is corporate welfare and the working class hands out tens upon tens of $billions to corporations every year in welfare. What is most offensive is most of that money goes to American corporations and ends up in offshore bank accounts and our politicians are making themselves wealthy by having illegal money funneled offshore while we the tax payers are denied oversight. I studied this corrupt political system for eight years and determined the only means of fixing our government is to hold a referendum and adopt Direct Democracy. We need to get rid of this phony democracy we are told we have. One vote every four to five years does not make a democracy. Having no political voice in making our laws is not democracy. Having a police state is not democracy. Being taxed to death without a voice and for the benefit of the ruling class is not democracy. Having our health care destroyed by both our federal and provincial governments when Canadians have paid for this is not democracy! Trudeau shutting down government so he could avoid being investigated for corruption regarding his scheme to direct money into his bank account under the "WE Charity" and "Deferred Prosecution Agreement" legislation was a criminal act but Trudeau did it and got away with it. In a real democracy, he wouldn't get away with that but in an Autocratic, Unitary system of government he continuously gets away with it because he can impose his will on society by decree. If anyone takes a moment to ask themselves "Do we live in a democracy"? the answer must be - no we do NOT!
follow. 1) Human rights have to apply to everyone 2) To apply to everyone, everyone has to be protected 3) To protect everyone requires money ( police, nurses, educators, etc) 4) Not everyone has money to pay for that 5) Some people has more money that they need to survive 6) You will not kill those people if you get his money 7) You will safe lives if you get this money 8) Save lives is more important than property rights 9)So it's not immoral have taxes if, and only if they are applied to that

You're an idi@t, Freeland and co. just transferred more wealth to the "elite" class in the last 3 years than in the entire history of mankind.

I believe there is a solution (although there's no such thing as a perfect one): remove centralized power bases that have the authority to dole out advantages. The obsession with giving too much power over the market to a single group (government) has backfired and caused even MORE concentration of wealth than we've ever seen.
Interesting observation: "We need a new New Deal". Who knows if some powerful politicians would have the smarts and will power to try it.
The new deal will be a global totalitarian police state...are you sure you want that?
And as long as a majority of people care more about kim kardashian or honey boo boo than their personal economy or education, this won't change.
Remember for every rich person on the planet there are a thousand poor people who took the same risk but failed.

We will eat them and split their cash?

The poorest in America are not going hungry, fool.
You people perfectly epitomize the state of mind of people on the left.
You don’t care about the poor, you hate the rich. You don’t want to see the people on the bottom lifted up, you want to see the people at the top torn down. You have this childish idea that because someone has money, someone else doesn’t. You think that people get rich by making other people poor.
You are fools, ungrateful and therefore sad.
I implore you to open your minds to some books, challenge your preconceived ideas, and your hearts. Covetousness and ungratefulness makes people bitter and sad.
@@genzcurmudgeon8037what about the serious issues this lady clearly pointed out? should they be ignored while one takes comfort in the ham sandwich. You effing dufus
Peter Elios
She pointed out no serious issues.
A young man selling his company for a billion is only an issue if you think a dollar made by someone means a dollar stolen from someone else.
Champagne socialists.

Great video! I guess the only thing that puzzles me is that it is a commercial to buy gold and silver from their company. With currency???? Sounds super, I guess, if their only goal is to collapse the system, but be left holding the bag with our useless currency, out of the kindness of their hearts. Or can you buy the gold and silver with bitcoin?
Like I said, how many deaths and illnesses are you willing to accept, in the name of corporate profit, before you feel it's excessive?
No-one wants to "kill" the profits of the multinationals. Merely control their excessive, self-serving greed, and see them taxed fairly.
I think to bring about this "new , new , deal is to mechanize all labor and figuring out how to repurpose all the garbage we have in landfills into material beneficial for agriculture, transporation, education, healthcare, housing, and energy

+Kenneth Sumerford
Uhm the US unemployement rate is less than 5% dude.
+David de Lancey Do a reality check, dude. With more than 92 million citizens without a full-time job the REAL unemployment rate is at least 20 percent. The official govt figure is fixed for economic and political reasons. A 5% rate "justifies" bringing foreign workers into the US.
Kenneth Sumerford
No it really isn't dude.
*A 5% rate "justifies" bringing foreign workers into the US.*
Really?? and who is justifying this specifically?
Considering it just reached 5 percent last week, I highly doubt anyone has been advocating bringing in foreign workers with that statistic.
+David de Lancey
I was an engineer designing new electronics for jets, age 57 when Obama was elected. I resolved that week to never work again if he is Pres. I do not want to contribute to a society that turned evil. I would not have worked for HItler, either, the other single payer health care, gun control world leader.

Only a left winger trusts wikipedia, npr, snopes, and Karl Marx.
Freeland is a very aweful person at heart.
In my opinion, Christine Freeland is extremely selfish and arrogant , the most ineffective public servant we have had in Canada.

I hope she becomes MP, we need more intelligent people like her in Ottawa.
She's vile.

1) Human rights have to apply to everyone
2) To apply to everyone, everyone has to be protected
3) To protect everyone requires money ( police, nurses, educators, etc)
4) Not everyone has money to pay for that
5) Some people has more money that they need to survive
6) You will not kill those people if you get his money
7) You will safe lives if you get this money
