me too.
So from a total outsider (doing research here), enterprise architecture is the practice of mapping out the many building blocks that make up an organization, and improving on the arrangement of these building blocks to create an improved state that supports the the accomplishment the organization's strategic objectives.
I'll try and shorten it:
An Enterprise Architect helps decision makers in an organization map the many moving parts of their Enterprise, and optimize upon that architecture for the purpose of accomplishing strategic objectives.
please help
Great summary! Too often we try to fix things and solve problems but only in one domain or subject area - we make changes, and then we're surprised that there is a ripple effect and something else is affected!
Excellent, I am an Enterprise Architect, and I love your introduction to EA. Short , clear and precise
Coming from an Enterprise Architect that means a lot to me! Thank you.
Dear Friends,
I have read TOGAF v9.1, I have some questions to ask again so that I understand correctly and fully, the questions are as follows:
1/ The ABB (architecture building blocks) will be technology independent, right?, and it is used to describe Target models in Phase B,C,D?
2/ The SBB (Solution building blocks) is tied to specific technologies (eg Cloud, Microservices, etc.), right?, and it is used in Phase E?.
3/ The Technical reference model is used in Phase E, right?.
I can't see how you would dislike this... concise and to the point, rather excellent!
Thank you! I really appreciate your kind words!
Excellent. Informative and to the point
Thank you - I shall continue to create and post more about enterprise architecture, and you can keep up-to-date through my blog - www. evernden.net
Zacman is proper way the architect need to think, it is just for architect thinking top to down way .
EA is just policy & guiding principles to manage big projects
Congrats, very well done. I've been looking (a little while) for something clear I found it.Thanks. It would be amazing to have another video with more details about what the different part of an entreprise architecture. This 6 minutes challenge is also Excellent. Looking forward for more.

Great explanation Sir. I see you are an enterprise architect and a music composer. Great skills !!
Thank you! I think they are very much complementary skills. There's a lot to be learned from musicians when working with EA!
Thank you for the explanation.
You're welcome.
Fully agree with the explanation/definition of an 'enterprise' and 'architecture' ....its all about people, in true academia sense.
However, for practical reality - I really wish had you touched upon the merits & demerits of having enterprise architecture as a separate 'function'/dept or embedd it within each department.
Or we should ask Gartner/Mckenzie the same question :)
Thanks for this video, was useful for me. Carlos From Guatemala.
You're welcome.
Bro, that mustache is a bit off balance, otherwise great video.
When you get to my age there is a lot more that is off balance than a moustache!
I could listen to him all day!
Thank you - I hope you find it interesting. (If you want to hear more look for the online training courses)
thanks so much, to me, as a non-native English speaker, it always seemed that an enterprise is a large organization.
Please continue making videos
I shall! There are more in the online training at enterprise-architecture-courses-online.thinkific.com/ - many are free, and all of the rest can be viewed through a low-cost monthly subscription option

Nice Explanation Sir...
Thank you!
Clear, brief, & to the point
Thank you! Roger
As a licensed architect, I find the use of the word Architect disturbing, instead of design... Or structure. Lots of professions use the term engineer, which seems more appropriate than architect.
the best explanations thanks
Thank you!

Thanks!
How is this channel still at around 2k subscribers? This is the simplest explanation of enterprise architecture I have ever come across.
Thank you!
Thank you.
You're welcome - Roger
what is the salary
It's very dependent on the field the enterpise itself is in. I'm currently a senior enterprise architect for a fortune 500 company in the aerospace industry and I clear $150k/year USD base and around $30k in bonuses depending on how the year treated the business. I however work with a few other architects from other firms on that are making in the range of a bit over $100k/year USD with no real bonuses to speak of.
Certainly can vary a lot - and sometimes a job is advertised as enterprise architecture when it's more accurately a more specific IT or business role. It's fairly easy to check vacancies for what they are looking for and what they pay. If you haven't already seen it, my course on How to become an Enterprise Architect explains some of the different roles that are labelled as Enterprise Architect.
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome.
What a concise and clear explanation of what is sometimes considered a monolithic, cumbersome, unnecessary practice in this agile, fast paced and dynamic world we live in

Hi everyone, i'm having a research about EA, there's a problem that I couldn't find any real example of EA in reality. Can you please help me out by naming some EA solutions ? and also some company/organizations using these solutions ? Thank you so much :)

I loved the analogy...gardening can be an option but eating is not!too good!clearly explained.thanks a lot for the info.
I'm glad the analogy works.... too often we see architecture as optional; instead the discussion needs to be about whether we need to manage it or not. This is covered in one of my other videos - Enterprise Architecture isn't optional.
Enterprise Architecture Thank you for the details of other video.
Yes I've have seen the light the good Lord has blessed me
very clear, very good
Thank you!
brilliantly explained
Thank you!
How long would I need to go to school?
That's a tricky question - it depends on your background and experience, the EA work that you're expected to do, and a few other factors. If you want to explore further, take my online course How to become an Enterprise Architect... which has plenty of practical exercises to help you assess your skills and figure out what training you would need.

There seems to be a big confusion between Systems Engineering and Enterprise Architecture.
Yes - and crucially they are related. Try my video on Levels of Understanding - that explains the connections!
