    This is definitely the video you needed. There are a lot of technical architects, solutions architects, and SEs (as I'm sure you know) that that are learning cloud technologies.
    I was a technical architect at a VAR that used an 'escalation' technique when it came to the business side. I would start with the IT folks first, make a relationship with them, and start fielding some basic questions and discovery. I wanted to sniff out the NEED or the WANT for tech. From that, we could determine if a further discussion with business stakeholders was needed due to a perceived disconnect from an IT that just wanted 'toys' or had budget to burn.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  2 года назад +1

      Welock. Thank you.
      We felt others new to these roles would benefit from learning more about them, so they could get the job the desire.
      It’s hard to train for the job when you don’t know what it is, so we make a lot of these kind of videos.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  Год назад

      Hello. We did not include a domain architect as it is not a cloud architect. That is someone that knows one subject like storage or process redesign.
      It’s not someone that focuses on the full solution which is why they aren’t a cloud architect or enterprise architect.

    Thanks for this very insightful video. A few questions I have...
    I am specialized in 1 SAAS Vendor Solution (CRM), and played roles as BA and Solution Architect for about 5 years in all for that solution (but over 10years of experience). However, in the long term I aspire to be an Enterprise Architect.
    1. What next 2 roles will you recommendation in a path towards EA. Solution Architect or Business Architect or Cloud Architect?
    2. On the average, how many years of relevant experience does one require to fill in an EA position?
    3. How may one get into EA without prior EA experience ... especially an external applicant.
    4. Considering an EA engages with an overview of a company's tech landscape which includes technologies from several vendors, what general other solutions would you recommend one should focus on with regards IAAS and PAAS? AWS, AZURE, etc?
    5. Lastly, will you recommend an Architecture Certificate as a facilitation towards an EA role?
    6. If Yes, which and why? TOGAF, Zachmann, ITIL v. 4, Gartner?
    Many thanks in advance of your response.

    Where do you place the Data Architect ?

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  Год назад +1

      They are Data architects.
      It’s a specialist career.
      Although we retrain a lot of data architects to be cloud architects as there are far more jobs, much hire salaries and more career potential.

    Thank you for this, are there situations where Enterprise Architect work with Solutions Architect? Who reports to who?

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  2 года назад +2

      Generally Enterprise Architects who focus more on the business are much higher level in the company.
      The solution architect is the most junior of the architects. Then would be cloud architect. Then enterprise architect. Then business architect.
      That’s why we train cloud architects. As they can always take the more junior solution architect roles, cloud architect roles and sometimes enterprise architect roles.
      But generally the enterprise architect is a director or VP level platoon.

    Question: In the normal flow of work. Losely speaking, who does more work earlier? Data architects or Solution architects.
    I'm guessing solution architects would take the baton from the business architect, then pass it to technical architect, who in term work with data architect etc?
    Right?
    Also, thanks for awesome explaination.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  Год назад

      They are completely different.
      The cloud architect focuses on the end to end design. The data architecture only focuses on the data. They work together.
      Different parts for the solution. If it’s big data the data architect is involved from the beginning.
      It’s it’s a total solution the cloud architect gets the data architect to consult on the big data piece.
      But many data architects come to us to become cloud architects as it’s a bigger role with the potential for much higher pay.
      The closer you are to the business the higher the pay. The closer you are to the tech the lower the pay.
      But what matters is doing what you love.
      Business architects are strategy consultants and may or may not have anything to do with the technology.

    Today's problem is that many people give themselves the title of architect without using any recognized standard, method or framework. That is why there are so many misunderstandings in business about the role of architecture and the resulting expectations! One possibility would be to go e.g. in the direction of the Togaf standard of the Opengroup. This methodology is completely vendor neutral and well 600 Enterprises like IBM, Phillips, Fujitsu etc. recognize the Togaf standard! Of course, it is always important to describe the role of the architect transparently to the customer and also within the own company, then no false expectations can arise.
    Anyway, I think the video explains well how the respective architectures could differ.

    Business Architects can be classified based on levels of seniority like Junior, Proficient, Senior and Expert? If that is right, how do you characterize them based on seniority?

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  2 года назад

      Great question
      Seniority or how long someone is at the company is not very important
      How good the person is at their job is what matters
      There are plenty of capable rising stars who achieve great things in their youth
      There are also people who have decades of experience that are incompetent
      So seniority is relatively unimportant, what’s someone’s capabilities are and the impact they can make to the organization is what matters most

    Is a digital architect the same my as a technical architect?

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  2 года назад

      No they are almost complete opposites
      A digital architect is more about how to improve business with technology.
      More like a cloud architect or enterprise architect.
      The focus here for a digital architect, enterprise architect or cloud architect is digital transformation
      A technical architect is really an engineer with an architect title. They focus more on the tech.

    Business architect is similar to a business analyst

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  3 года назад +1

      Sometimes.
      Generally the business analyst does the research and makes recommendations.
      Generally the business architect is about taking the information and transforming the organization with business process redesign, nee tech, new offerings etc
      Having said that all of these roles have overlap and they don’t have clearly defined roles in many cases.
