Hi, iv been looking to try the wa47 on Kick out, probably about 6 inch far from the kick, but iv heard that it distorts the signal eaven if you have a pad on the Preamp, was wondering if you had ever try this technique with the 47, i wanna buy it for vocals and for kick, thats what iv been doing with a wa47j and it works great for me, but now i want to upgrade. im a bit scared that if i change to the 47 tube mic i wont get a good result from a kick drum. Note that when i put my 47j on the kick i have to put the -10 db pad so it wont distort the signal, eaven with my external wa73 preamp on low gain, i still have to put the 47j on -10. Thanks!
Hello! Thats a great question. I have used it on Kick Out in that configuration, it sounds awesome for what its worth. The thing to look out for with this mic is that it's possible to clip the diaphragm, basically it will clip the mechanism inside the mic before it even gets to your preamp, regardless of using a pad or not. So it will be fine for more laid back genres where the drummer isn't slamming the kick, but I wouldn't grab it for a metal record haha. Which you could argue the WA47, 6 inches away won't get you the kick sound you'd need for those louder styles anyway. I've also used the WA47 for an overhead and a mono room, so it could be worth getting a dynamic kick mic and using the WA47 elsewhere on the kit. Lots of factors, but hopefully this sheds some light on it!
@woodyardmusic Telefunken recently released a new mic, TF 17, which is based on K47 style capsule. I'm thinking of buying it. Have you used Telefunken mics?
@@AnwaarAliOfficialI have never used Telefunken mics, I’ve heard good things though. Also, here’s a song I used the WA47 on vocals: open.spotify.com/track/5aZaDjrZR3rJauqJMOseuW?si=Otnr4NbCRj65Qlb5BBwMww
You’d need to come out of the WA47 power supply, plug that into your neve pre, and then run that into a line input of your interface or hit your conversion

good job❤
did you use 4k mode on ssl in voice over part?
Thanks! And no I did not. I wanted to keep it as flat as possible.
the WA-47 might be my favorite thing Warm has made! great vid
It’s amazing, thanks man!
Do you have a fully mixed and mastered song in which the vocals were recorded using this mic?
Oh that’s a great question. I’m sure I do but I’ll have to go through some sessions and give it some thought. Give me a few days haha

@@woodyardmusic Awesome song ❤️
I'd have to question anyone who would use a U47 for an acoustic guitar let alone a guitar amp!
But how did it sound? 👀
If a have a neve pre, how can i link
