"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
“Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on RUclips. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on RUclips, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

Alex Jones needs a lot more evidence for the claim that a demon attacked some celebrities. He didn't present any evidence. Look, I am ready to believe wild and insane things if they are supported by strong evidence, there are many people who also think this way, who are ready to believe wild and crazy things if they are supported by strong evidence. Many people decide what they believe in not based on what sounds crazy, but based on what the evidence says (sceptics aren't one of those people, let me be clear, sceptics a priori disregard any crazy conclusion and they don't care how much evidence supports such conclusions). Demon attacks have nowhere near the amount of evidence that a claim like "alien made UFOs are real, and they are hear" have.
There is no Varginha Brasil case, there is no Ariel school Zimbabwe case of paranormal stuff. There are no countless military reports all over the world of the same or similar kind of paranormal events. UFOs being made by non human intelligent beings have much better evidence. The closest thing to evidence when it comes to demon attacks that I have heard was when that music producer met a self described witch in San Francisco in the 1990s, the witch told him she cast black magic on him, she told him that he would die in 7 days and then the music producer, who had always been a rational, sceptical guy and an atheist, allegedly started seeing shadow people and he died 7 days later. During those 7 days he spoke to a local priest and he also talked to friends and family over the phone about the supposed shadow beings that were supposedly attacking him. The brief description of this case was in the newspapers. It can still be found on the internet. Still, given that there was no video evidence of shadow beings, this is nowhere near as strong of a case as many UFO cases are. Had he captured shadow beings on camera, then that would be compelling evidence, as then if you wanted to argue for a conventional explanation you would have to argue that he committed suicide as a part of a hoax in order to make people believe demons are real. You wouldn't be able to argue that he was simply becoming schizophrenic because the video evidence would corroborate what he claimed he saw.

Oh god, listening devices for these submarines are far from secret technology. They release recordings from these things all the time and Alex is 100% correct with how they work and how powerful they are. It's literally the first thing I said when it happened. "What's taking so long, wouldn't they have heard it? Or at least be able to find it?". The exact specs of these devices is a secret, yes. But it's been out in the open for several decades that these exist. Don't think they destroyed the sub on purpose, but I do believe they dragged it out as a distraction.

Correction on the sub sound. While the US Navy's system would have recorded the implosion, no one actively listens to it and since its not a pattern of a naval threat or a large sub, it was probably not noticed until they went back to try to identify it. Now when they identified it looking back vs when it came out, that's unknown. But they didn't know it happened the instant it was recorded necessarily.
I heard an NPR interview with someone who had been researching Jones’ life. It was quite interesting. He had family in high places, like a judge and someone that worked for the Sherrifs or police dept. in rockwall tx. He found out about a drug ring that the dept. was at the center of, and talked about it at school. That dept. eventually got indicted on drug trafficking charges………think what you want of that. I just remember listening to this guy talk about him on NPR in the parking lot of a grocery store, I didn’t go in until it was over. I wish I could find it now.

I listen this podcast from time to time, and it was frustrating that everyone let him go unchecked but one of the cohosts. And people in the comments agreed with Alex and said the cohost was 2 years behind reality. It will drive you crazy.

Then I read about PBD's background and saw that he was the owner of a "company" called PHP. It's pretty much a life insurance pyramid scheme. And Alex Jones is the literal definition of what a grifter is. He's been selling armageddon doomsday kits since 1990, among other things. So yea, both grifters.

Everyone is looking for a bad guy with the sub rescue story. There's no bad guy aside from the careless journey itself. The rescue effort needs verifiable proof that the people are dead before they stop searching. They had unverifiable evidence that they were gone, and once they verified it, they stopped the search. It's really not difficult to understand. You can't call off the search because you think they're probably dead. The media and consumers (us), are interested in these stories because we're humans. It's a real life mystery/action movie. There's no bad guy, everyone relax.
