"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
“Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on RUclips. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on RUclips, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
As a black conservative and a Muslim, I love the fairness of this podcast 🫡
The way he breaks down how many Christians died in X or Y attacks, it's like, who thinks this way? If someone told me a huge number of people died my first reaction wouldn't be "How many of them were gamers?" or some other demographic question - the problem is the loss of life, not how many of them happened to belong to one religion or another
I just despise that framing
Eh, he kind of addressed that in the video by saying them being civilians was bad enough on its own.
Most people have a connection with a demographic they can relate to. Being a gamer and being in the same religion isn’t the same I would be lying to you if I said I don’t care about the Gaza genocide more because I’m Muslim. We've devolved to the point where seeing flaws in the mirror and acknowledging them has become a perceived fate worse than death. It's a narcissistic operational model that we continue to reward the world over with who we allow to lead us. Can we all agree that acknowledging flaws is superior to pretending they aren't there and attempting to destroy anyone who would dare point them out? Ben Shapiro is so washed up. His brand of conservatism peaked in 2004 and is now long gone,
Back in 2018 I was listening to Shapiro to kill some time while doing mundane things at work. One one episode he was defending the Iraq war.... in 2018! Then on another episode he defended the VIETNAM war! I couldn't believe it. It's likely because his family was not drafted into Vietnam like us regular folk. He had no skin in the game. I stopped listening to him at this point. There is nothing conservative about spending tax dollars to blow up the world.

The Right wingers that I can respect as a Leftist are people like Pat Buchanan, Joe Sobran, Russell Kirk, Jude Waninski, etc... Members of the OLD Right that stood their ground even when it was unpopular to do so within their own party. I still remember how vicious Tucker was towards Cindy Sheehan, a woman who lost her son in Iraq and subsequently became and anti-war activist. In his initial opposition to American intervention on behalf of Ukraine Tucker gave away his hand when he said 'I have three draft age children....' See, THAT'S when it gets REAL for most Rightists. When THEY stand to pay a price and lose something they care about.
I would add Liz Cheney to that list. She’s at least principled enough to stand up to MAGA and admit she was wrong about gay marriage

@ivanivanovichrasputin3098 then you haven't been listening because tucker has repeatedly talked about how he was ashamed of supporting the Iraq war, the military industrial complex, government surveillance, and carrying water for warhawks like bush, mccain, romney, and cheney for many years.
I think this one actually boils down to the American people being fed endless propaganda for the better part of a century regarding the nuking of Japan. Many people still think it was necessary to avoid losing hundreds of thousands of Americans in an invasion of Japan.
The right wing pivot on Hiroshima has been insane. Jesse Watters called Trump’s indictment a “political war crime” on par with Hiroshima. Emily Austin pointed out that America bombed Hiroshima in a debate with Hasan.
It was necessary though. Even after the second bomb dropped, there were still people in the Japanese war cabinet that wanted to keep on fighting. You seriously think that had the bombs not been dropped, that Japan would not have fought to every last grandmother and baby, when they had already started doing so?
@@stefan4159 It's debatable that nuclear weapons needed to be used to convince Japan to surrender. It's not debatable that the US chose inexcusable targets purely to maximize civilian deaths. That part is the very definition of terrorism as well as being a crime against humanity.
@@stefan4159 2:55 Go back and listen to the part, where they talked about Japan, already wanting to surrender. We believe we bombed them, as a warning to Russia and China. After all, America was also given sufficient warning for Pearl Harbor, but that’s not the story that is spun to us.
@stefan4159 history is written by the victors with a guilty conscience and blood on their hands.
We can and must do better. For the sake of all humanity. We possess the capability to extinct ourselves without the wisdom to avoid decisions that might lead to that very outcome.

Civil War by the Conservative Cinematic Universe is incredible!!! 🤯
Even way before October 7th, it always gave me a level of uneasiness how dismissive (or clueless) most people were about the things that took place in Nazi Germany happening again. You will hear "those people were uncommonly evil" or "that would not happen in a democracy". To me, that was always equivalent to putting your guard down. I think it's very important to never lose sight that one, no matter how good we see ourselves to be, always has the potential to cross to the dark side and when we are in the middle of it, it's very easy to do so.
I’m shocked that Tucker showed a shred of humanity. Did not expect that.
He's not the epitome of evil that some lazy commentators on the left have made him out to be. You should listen to more of what he says - yes, you'll disagree with much of it, but it will still be of value.

I'm convinced this is the real reason Tucker was taken off air. Occasionally he would say something that was right and not completely insane and Fox wanted him to say the wrong thing 100% of the time 99% wasn't good enough for them.
Nah it's because he helped to lose Fox nearly 800 million dollars by lying about the 2020 election.

Can’t say that for a lot of pundits.
The nuclear bombings of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were never a military necessity. Japan was already practically defeated and were in the process of surrender negotiations with the Allies before the bombs were ever dropped. There navy and air force were almost entirely destroyed and its army was largely stranded in China and Japanese occupied Manchuria, plus a handful of islands that the U.S. and Western powers bypassed in the island hopping campaign of the Pacific. Dwight Eisenhower argued against it. Charles Nimitz, admiral of the entire US Pacific Fleet also was against it since Japan was under a full naval blockade and was basically being starved to death. Even Douglas MacArthur, the famous WW2 general who later wanted to use nuclear weapons in the Korean War against China, said it was not necessary and was against the decision to use nuclear weapons. The hypothetical invasion of the Japanese islands was still in the drawing boards stage and was months, if not a year away, from even becoming a possibility.
So why did the US them? The Cold War against the Soviet Union had already begun and there was large amounts of distrust on both sides about what each faction aimed to do once the Second World War ended (which was basically already decided by 1944). The United States dropped those bombs for three reasons:
1) It served as a warning shot to the Soviet Union, unaware that Stalin already knew about the Manhattan Project.
2) It also served as a testing site for this new, experimental weapon.
3) Lastly, there was a large degree of racial animosity towards the Japanese for their surprise attack against Pearl Harbor and the numerous wartime atrocities that the Japanese military conducted before and during WW2.
Even after all these decades, Americans by and large, still refuse to come to terms with the realities of the past. Even now it remains one of the most taboo topics to even openly discuss in the US.
100% correct on all accounts.
You forgot #4- Truman was a vindictive piece of sh*t.
1 thing is that pearl harbor wasn't a surprise attack. Japan said they would attack if the US wouldn't lift the blockade
I think the taboo on the topic has lessened in the past 10-15 years. In 90s and definitely post 911 saying the bombings were unnecessary was treated as heresy while these days it's more of an ugly truth most don't want to address.
@@GoodStuff1992 The US expected an attack on an outlying area such as the American occupied Philippines. They seriously underestimated Imperial Japan and never thought they would or even had the ability to carry out an attack like Pearl Harbor.
@@dclaet1135 Don't be so sure of that. Jacob Schiff and the Kuhn Loeb faction of New York Jewish bankers gave MILLIONS to Japan to build up their navy and military back in the late 1800's and early 1900's to fight Czar Nicholas and Orthodox Christian Russia, hoping to weaken them to the degree that their Bolsheviks would topple them soon after and turn the once devout Orthodox Christian nation (who they hated for the supposed "pogroms" which is another topic) into an atheistic internationalist Marxist power. Never forget that the likes of FDR and then Truman (the only world leader who recognized the terrorist state of Israel after the campaigns of the Irgun) were essentially puppets of Bernard Baruch, and Baruch's influence goes back to the Wilson years when FDR was the #2 man under the infamous Josephus Daniels (yes, THAT Josephus Daniels) who was Secretary Of The Navy, the same Navy that illegally armed civilian passenger ships for the British in 1915 and orchestrated the false war propaganda against Germany after the Lusitania ruse. All of this (in addition to the loads of money they made off of it) was so that the British could gain control of Ottoman Palestine and weirdo's like Edmond Rothschild and Chaim Weizmann could create some goofy idea of a thousand's years old "homeland" for the "persecuted Jews" of Christian Russia in the former Kingdom Of Poland.
In fact, there are many of well- versed people who said FDR intentionally moved the Naval base to Pearl Harbor in 1940 specifically so that Japan could attack some of the naval fleet there to get public and congressional support to join WW2, which FDR tried to sell to the American public (who wasn't buying it up till then) the idea of joining the European War since 1939.

What needs to change is the fact that people are shamed and put on blast for changing their view on things.
When in reality, the people who should be shamed are the people who refuse to change their views despite evidence that is right in front of their face.

All 3 have already said they unconditionally support the "state of Israel" and the world has said that's their RED LINE. Is that true? where can I see that info.
This is exactly why we need a 3rd party and we desperately need to get money out of politics
Won't happen. Mammon is the God Americans serve.
Love your channel. Always sharp commentary and spot on!
Thanks you it is so hard to heard the truth anymore in this country
Listen to Dan Carlen’s Hardcore History episode Logical Insanity. He runs down the history of tactical booming of civilians. And how the logic of it made sense in the moment. Shows how crazy the people in charge were.
We can do better than Dan Carlen
The carpet bombing of Dresden was also a war crime.
Tucker learning about his target audience 😂
Not his target audience. Neocons.
Damn, I'm a sucker for honesty.
Bomb wasn't dropped on a church, it was an airburst 1000 feet above the ground to maximize damage
Let them fight...
Love him or hate him Tucker Carlson does add to the public discourse.
“I don’t even follow the attacks” hahaha hahaha
Thank you
Carlson is a true nationalist. He sees Shapiro represents foreign interests over American ones.
Matthew 6:24-36
Nationalism is a brain disease
Well he is right. Shapiro not a true American
He went to Russia to trash America...
I don't think you have to be a nationalist to not want foreign interests coming over the interest of your own people in your own country.
I remember bow tie wearing tucker at the ron paul convention in 2008. He’s changed a lot, but sometimes he has a moment or two of sanity. Broken clock
For the one who support those criminals,
One day the same criminals they will go after you.
Did he just say, (around 2:30), "for all the dumb, cruel and untrue things I said..." Just wow
I enjoyed the part where they revisited his history of bad takes.
There are moments I genuinely like not only Tucker's position, but how he delivers the message.
One main reason I think people are justifying what is happening to the Palestinians is not just that they are brown or have a different religion and language, although these reasons play a big part, its that people view them as poorer then their society, whenever I hear people say Israel is our only democratic ally in the region I think what they really mean is rich high gdp per capita society and they view Palestinians as a poor per capita society, look at what conservatives and liberals say about homeless people in our own country, they would be fine with insane amounts of poor/homeless people dying so them and other high gdp per capita countries can stay that way
always educative to watch kyle show

Wow. I had no idea that the Americans shared their Evangelicals' compassion with the Japanese of Nagasaki.
The conservative ouroboros era has begun
*This is how you need to vote in November:*
We must fully resist and _always vote_ against (& less authoritarian than) both the Democratic *and* Republican Parties- including Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy, Rand Paul (He’s _no_ Ron Paul), Warren Davidson, Ron Johnson, and all other Republicans.
For _all_ public positions. And this same strategy applies against the same one or more party-monopolies in _all_ countries worldwide.
Real libertarians will never be Republicans or Republican loyalists. You can always _write-in_ an anti-authoritarian person if no candidates for a position fit that bill.
This will continuously reduce the power of _all_ authoritarian parties in the party monopolies. Until our task is complete.
Repeat strategy for all new authoritarian parties that emerge.

The only candidates who meet the description are Cornel West and Jill Stein, who are fiercely against military aid to Ukraine.

Kyle: "I used to naively take my political opponents at face value and assume that they were arguing in good faith."
Proceeds to take Tucker Carlson at face value and assume that he's arguing in good faith.
He does that all the time. Gets annoying.
Absolutely. The morally correct position just happens to be the Russian position in this case, and Russia is using all their tools, Carlson included, to try and win the election for Trump by "just giving facts" and turning voters away from Biden.
Next time watch the full video before commenting. He specifically said he can't take Tucker seriously and called out his hypocrisy in what he said on the podcast and how he still supports Trump.
Literally towards the end of video he critiques Tucker and hypocrisy.
@@pill5384 I watched the whole video. I didn't say he didn't criticise Tucker, I said he gives him (and others) too much credit for arguing in good faith. Tucker has always been a disingenuous cu## who'll say whatever he thinks is useful to his career at any given moment. True to form, that's what he's doing right now. Critique the positions he's putting forth all you want, that's great. But when Kyle says (near the end of the video) that he won't hold his breath, "but hopefully that's an eye-opening moment for Tucker", he's once again speaking as though Tucker is expressing himself in good faith. He's not. He knows that he's participating in a movement with utter pieces of sh##. (Remember when his text messages saying that he despises Trump leaked? Now he's supporting Trump?) He knows who he's in bed with politically, and *he doesn't care,* because he's *just as much of a piece of sh##.*

3:24 pure anger, 3:25 thank you Kyle for saying it so I don’t have to yell it at my inanimate phone 😂
Bravo 😂😂😂 when you said “because they like killing civilians” I laughed and cried
You know we’ve fallen hard as a society when Tucker Carlson now sounds reasonable in certain contexts.
Nagasaki is a major port. That's why it was targeted, along with its steel works, and also why it had a population of japanese catholics as it was the port through which portuguese missionaries arrived in previous centuries and established a catholic tradition in japan. Maybe japan could have been made to surrendur without nukes but there's an argument to be made that getting nuked and occupied by americans under douglas mccarthur is better than being invaded and occupied by russians under stalin.
They would not have surrendered. Even after the second bomb dropped, there were still people in the Japanese war cabinet that wanted to keep on fighting.
That is an insane thing to say.
That argument was horsepucky in 44 the same as it is in 24.
... and this is how we rationalize away war crimes people. Smh.
Tack!

This is THE point. All sides should recognize this is a genocide because it is a fact. The debate between the two sides is really if the genocide is justified.
it depends. they can't justify the genocide committed by Adolf?
it's about racism.
I think Tucker is one of the few people that make sense.
You’re fucking joking, out of 100 things he says, he gets 1 or 2 things right. He literally said theres no evidence for evolution… he’s a grifter, always has been
There should be a new spectrum on the scale. Left, center, right and insane right.
Who listens to Tucker? This is what's scary.
Tucker was the only decent person on fox. Most people who hate tucker never listened to him.

Well to be fair Judaism and Christianity have endured many reforms in part due to their longer existence.
That's not to say islam hasn't had reforms either.
