I was riding the subway and this song jumped in my head and once I got home I played it on tube and did not know George duke and Stanley Clarke sung this song. This is a classic
Man, this tune is like a time machine that transports me to a specific moment in my life: spinning records (yes, LPs) at KMOO in 1981, sitting at the back door smoking a twist as the sun was setting, and the last few notes of "Sweet Baby" playing in the background... then, silence. Dead air, stoner! Start the next 45! (LOVED that job!!!)
Feel the same, only I was in LA listening on K EARTH ! Duke had another great song around the same time called SHINE ON that had a lot of air play in LA as well! Great tune!
You hit the nail on the head! This song is like a marker in time for me. It reminds me of pursuing the woman who is now my wife. George Duke produced a ton of great music!
Released just after my 18th birthday, I went out and bought this LP --- and even at the time, I was thinking, "why am I buying this old people's album,' but the songs on the record were just phenomenal and the musicianship was just so delightful to the ear and to hear. Clarke on the upright bass and George on the 88s! But back in the 80s, seeing the video of the song was darn near next to impossible --- so LONG LIVE THE TUBE! #facts #each1teach1

When I think about your lovin'
The Sunday evenings, the fun we used to share
Looking through the memories in my mind
Since I've laughed and cried and thought it over
Now I realize that it's never over, it's only set aside
Oh it's you, sweet baby
I will never be free from your embrace, sweet baby
Only hoping it's not too late to try again
It's you, sweet baby
Ever lost and captured by your smile, sweet baby
I will always be right there by your side
Right by your side
Lying here alone I'm dreaming
My mind keeps wandering, my thoughts are only you
Looking through the memories in my mind
How could love so real have turned so empty
I just keep wondering why
Will I ever find the love we shared together, you and I
Girl it's you, sweet baby
Though we had such a long hard road to climb, sweet baby
Only hoping it's not too late to try again
It's you, sweet baby
Won't you try belivin what i say, sweet baby
I will always be right there by your side
Right by your side

Cos musicians now want instant success. Using jus 4 chords to make music!! Some songs of eg Stevie wonder intro alone has 6 power jazz chords!!! U get the idea??
A true classic. Holds the test of time. A fave for me.
Hello how are you doing today I hope you have a great and beautiful day today and my name is Winton Moore and how is the weather over there
So that's the title of the song ...been searching for this for many years...I was about 7 y.o. when I fell in love with this song .👍👍👍
2024. Oakland CA driven. White and proud to have grown up around 70s funk and soul.
I hear ya!!! I am black and loved Glen Campbell, Tammy Wynette, Benny Goodman and James Taylor, Carole King, the Carpenters, etc...MUSIC IS COLOR BLIND but how sad many of us are not.
We're fortunate we know such a beautiful song like this. Hope more than millions get to discover this song because it's worth it.
At 72 in December of 2024 who's still listening with the old girl ❤❤❤
Me, a 32 year old boy
So many memories,so many dreams deferred..
Damn...wish I could turn back the hands of time.
Jerry Washington I just wished I could bring back all my family & friends who were integral to my upbringing and just have a formal appreciation dinner and a toast prior to their untimely demise. Which is why you cannot forget to tell anybody that you love them because you just may not get that opportunity........
Jerry Washington Me. Too.
Mr. Avery I wish I could go back in time and really appreciate my mom more, and all that it took to raise us and thank her
PAISLEY PRINCESS She KNOWS
You and me brother 💯👊
This song is timeless
I had chance to meet George Duke when came to Kansas City, but missed the chance now I regret missing a chance to meet this musical genius.
This makes me feel like a teen in the 80s that's in love. And I was born in 1983
With tears in my eyes.. this song will forever remind me of my high school sweetheart.. it was a turbulent 32 year ride but wouldn’t trade my experience with him for the world😔😔
80's people look decent. Let's bring back the culture that went on that time.
I was riding the subway and this song jumped in my head and once I got home I played it on tube and did not know George duke and Stanley Clarke sung this song. This is a classic
I never knew this was Stanley Clark and George Duke. I never thought about who made it but I always loved it.
Great tune!
Greg Dillard right
You hit the nail on the head! This song is like a marker in time for me. It reminds me of pursuing the woman who is now my wife. George Duke produced a ton of great music!
Greg Dillard BRAGGART! 😉
Wonderfull. Music.
