Can you believe this guy, this beast had 3 heart surgeries. How is that for inspiration, no wonder he is my son's hero. Enjoy your retirement South Africa salutes you 🎉🍾🇿🇦
Since I was 6 he’s been my favourite player - my first ever live game (Sharks v Griquas) and hearing everyone shout BEEEASSST when he got the ball - what a legend
But at the same time, he had the grace to bow out at the top of his game. Too many Bok stalwarts go for that extra season and end up sullying their reputation. I too would love to have seen him go for the extra season but I understand why he didn't. I would love to meet him once, just to shake his oversized paw and say thank you.
@@Karma-qt4ji Yeah, I get what you're saying. I did meet him once about 5 years ago. I went with a friend to his church in Durban and Beast was there. He's a massive man with a booming voice and big paws. But for all of his strength and size there's a calm shyness about him. Awesome guy!
@@Karma-qt4ji He has played it very smart! Signed for Old Glory DC in the USA....it will be a much slower pace and he will be making a good amount of USD too $$$
@@20165776YEAR I know. And as things turned out, if he hadn't retired when he did he wouldn't have gotten any further Bok caps in 2020. But he could have made the Bok team from the 2021 Lions tour.
I had to laugh a bit at 2:53 being on this highlight video, when that was actually a highlight for #15 on Namibia even though he got run over. That was a fucking ballsy tackle if there ever was one. That said, TM is a legend and will be hard to replace! Great video.
My idol It is my dream to become a springbok player And at my school and community I'm known as the beast and I live up to that name because I play rugby like him
THE BEAST epitomises the green and gold spirit, he will go down in a prominent place in South Africans rugby history not only for the skills he displayed week in and week out but also for the humility with which he carried himself.....so much so....that he is and has been, the only rugby player in history, ever, to have his "name" called out by the entire stadium ( opposing fans as well ) each and every time he touched the ball in a game...... that surely has to be the crowning achievement of any rugby player in the world
I said he was overrated throughout his career because of the BIL Tour of 07. Now he's retired and it's sad to see him go. He had a good career and showed loyally to his club and adopted country. If he plays in the NH, maybe I will rave about him like commentators did, but he was a solid scrimmager & lineout technician

Probably one of the greatest props of all time, can't forget all the world class props he's gone up against and absolutely destroyed in the scrum

His workrate is insane, truly a BEAST! For me, the definition of a loosehead prop!
I agree! What a scrummager.
I was hoping that he'd do one more season so that he could be the most capped Bok. He deserves that!

Yep. It's better with the commentary as well; the commentators immediately acknowledge how ballsy and nice a tackle it was.
What an amazing video of the Beast 👏👌! Such an inspirational guy! Well done on creating a fantastic video, 🙌

Keep working hard both on the field and in the gym young man. You will certainly make it if you deeply want it.

Between 2:55 and 3:05 at which second do you think the fullback realised that he F#%ked Up
I dont think that thought crossed his mind....when in a life-death situation like that Im sure your brain turns off from fear
He actaully did quite good in stopping him tho!
Yet he was stopped
Etzebeth's face in 1:32 says it all..
