Hi Gareth, thank you for all your videos and courses. They’re really helpful and easy to understand. This feature by Fillout is great! We now do implement Fillout (and airtable) in business processes of my company, but we stuck on one thing. Why Fillout doesn’t have a feature of editing linked records? I mean you can create new records and also create linked records to them, but you can’t update them. It’s like you can construct a new house, add rooms but you can’t make doors to the rooms so they are isolated. It doesn’t make sense) i contacted fillouts tech support, they confirmed the issue and said that this feature is in development stage 🤷♂️ have you met this limitation and how did you solve it? Thank you in advance!
Thanks for watching! Re: Fillout, it is still a newer software and new features are being released all the time. I personally haven't had a use for editing linked records, but I know they are prioritizing new features all the time!
This is high quality information, presented well. I understand the goal is to show us different tools that can be leveraged to accomplish our objectives. Sometimes, though, I get caught up in the "new option" and forget that there is some form capability already built into smartsuites. I understand that this application of Fillout is like a superpower compared to the current internal abilities, however what would really help me in these types of circumstances (where I know SmartSuite is always building and improving) would be a few quick references as to HOW this integration improves on the native functionality. It would help me focus on getting the best process while optimizing my tool stack. As always, really well done. your work is much appreciated!
What about long texts and dynamic amount of text, dynamic sizes of user inputs. How this app handle those situations? i.e. I'm thinking on a CV builder where you can fill a form and the outpu it's the cv previously set on template. So, what would happen when an user add multiples job experiences or, a long text on a description?
Thks for this video !! How to create several answer (several new lines in Airtable) using one form ? I duplicate the "page" but each page is linked to the same answer...
I'm having the same issue. I attached my document, it turns green that it is ready but when I click on "Generate Form" I get the message "Document is not defined" underneath that button and it doesn't allow me to do anything else. I have tried several forms, including W-9.
Thanks for the feedback Laurie - we put in a fix this morning :) Some PDFs can be tricky to de-code sometimes! You should be able to add the fields afterwards like Gareth showed in the video, if our importer doesn't find them. Hope that helps! Also feel free to hop into our support chat, we'd be glad to help
Thank you for this new video. I've just tried it and for some reason it does not work with my PDFs. I've downloaded W9 form from the internet and it worked with this form. I thought there is an issue with Searchable or not Searchable PDF format, tried to convert my PDF into Searchable, still does not work. It uploads the file showing 100% complete and then I click "Generate form" it shows the message "Document is not defined".... any ideas?
Were you able to add fields to your PDFs manually after uploading them? If they don't have fields, I assume you can add them just as I demonstrated in the video with the signature and date field?
Hi there - we actually determined the cause here, and put in a fix this morning :) Seems like some PDFs can be tricky to de-code sometimes! Like Gareth mentioned, if the importer doesn't find the fields in your PDF, you can always add them afterwards and map them to your form questions. Hope that helps!
@@chrisj5071 sure thing. Create the forms from PDFs as shown in this video. Then automate the form collection so that when a form is submitted, the data and attachment are stored in Airtable. We've done videos on this topic and can be found under our Fillout playlist 💪
@@GarethPronovost So yesterday I was able to create a fillable PDF. Today I created another form but Fillable did not convert the file into fillable fields. What could the issue be?

Glad to help, thanks for watching!
Great video, as always @GarethPronovost - PDFs are part of so many business workflows, we're excited to only make this feature more powerful as we go!
I know I’ve already requested it but I’m desperate for a “add photo” feature to pdfs. Even if it’s just one photo at a time.

Thanks for the comment - that's a great idea for a future video!
Hey Gareth, could you please walk through the process of attaching the PDF back to Airtable base, with the signed form??
Jotform does this too - although not as straight forward. I can’t wait to try this out! Thanks
True, although I don't believe they've updated this feature for some time now. Excited to see where Fillout takes this!
Gotta test this out! Thanks

Airtable forms only create one record when submitted. To create multiple, you'll want to use automation. 👌

Can you create a video on how to integrate this with Airtable?
We've done several videos on Fillout + Airtable integration. What use case are you looking for?
@@GarethPronovost Looking to create a searchable database of the information captured in PDF forms.
