I'm getting enough sleep these days but not without the 4-6 AM interruption from my puppy, Ike. In a dreamy state, I venture down three flights of stairs to walk him just as the bagel shop comes to life, and my street smells of onion bialy and freshly baked bread. Most Mondays, I start my week knowing I have to write something new and original. I had no idea what to write this week. But in that sleepy haze during our sunrise walk, I had a vision of these charming canals in Northern Europe and how I would like life to be there. And since this channel is overdue for a rain story, I added that so you may enjoy some extended rain sounds as you dream away in a houseboat. 🌙 Podcast: podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/michelles-sanctuary/episodes/The-Canals-of-Gullhaven-Rainy-Bedtime-Story-e2kt7s8 Subscribe for more videos at my other channel, Michelle's Meditation Sanctuary! www.youtube.com/@MichellesMeditationSanctuary Gifts are always accepted, for those of you who wish you show appreciation: www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/34QKQX4NZM7QL?ref_=wl_share www.buymeacoffee.com/michsanctuary www.paypal.me/michellessanctuary www.venmo.com/michellehotaling
At half-6PM, Friday PM: what a glorious powerful T-storm! Turkey buzzards are fleeing for cover as dark clouds consume my SE sky view. Butter scampered-in ‘neath my washer/dryer. Now, even the more limber birds fly about worried! There MUST be a rainbow lurking eastward, but I’ll need to go out for a peek. 🌈
Lovely story @MichellesSanctuary ! Have you ever told a story about camping in a caravan in the forest? Or sleeping in the dessert under the stars? I might never do _EITHER_ of those things 😃 but I do daydream about it . . .
🎉 First time I was coincidentally there for a premier! I feel so fancy! Wonderful story and story behind the story. I call that state between sleeping and waking, the hunting ground of dreams, where the imagination is so fertile.🎉
Yay-- what a beautiful description of it. I imagine there will be many more lucid moments in this hunting ground of dreams until my pup can make it a full seven or eight hours through the night!
May everyone drift into a deep and restful slumber, embracing the promise of a new day brimming with vitality and delight. Goodnight, and may dreams carry you to distant lands of beauty and serenity. 💫🌟🌙

I love going back in time, sounds positively lovely to visit a floating market, and then to fall asleep on a houseboat, thank you so much my dear friend 🙏🤗💞
I’m sorry; most big cities just don’t print enough newsprint for our conveniences anymore. I can virtually swat flies efficiently with a full final Sunday issue of The Phila. Inquirer, FFS!
I think they were referring to the old trick of using newspapers to cover the floor and catch any puppy mess during the night (before they had puppy toilet training pads). The old newspapers were thick and absorbant and you could often get a bundle of last weeks newspapers for free or low cost. If you had a puppy you would put the newspaper down in layers on a tiled area (laundry or bathroom or kitchen) and as the puppy got older they learned to use it the same as going outside on grass/dirt. You picked up whatever mess they made as soon as possible. This old trick would save you from having to go outside with the puppy at night. As the puppy gets older still they can hold on longer and they learn to do it outside. The person was saying that their local newspaper, the new newspapers, are not thick enough to use except as a fly swat. You roll a page or two up and then wave it to scare off the fly. If you are fast enough you can hit and kill the fly so it doesn't buzz you.
Oh, I love medieval times. I know this is going to be wonderful .I slept in a houseboat once and it was amazing being rocked to sleep by the waves. ❤ Thanks so much for all you do for us.
There is nothing like a good bialy! now I can’t stop thinking about them with some chive cream cheese and a piece of nova and a Jersey tomato Haven’t had one in years they are extinct where I live, or they are frozen garbage. Didn’t realize there are canals all over the place including Italy and technically the English Channel is a canal. I’m up at around 4-6 doing the same as you after that she falls back asleep in my arms and lap on sofa in family room and for the next hour or two all is fine with the world. A bialy would make it better. Can’t wait till Sunday that story may be the highlight of Father’s Day.
Yes that’s a great breakfast lunch or even dinner. No other Tomato is like a Jersey beef stake. They aren’t here here yet but soon. Swiss definitely Munster second choice good sharp cheddar third. Onion or Scallion cream cheese lettuce optional white fish salad optional if nova isn’t available on a bagel a good one but on a real bialy an onion one that’s heaven. Slice it toast it very messy sandwich but so worth it.
The place that makes my street smell wonderful has the best cream cheese spread that blends in lox and scallion. For years I've paid extra for the lox, only to ask for half the scallion spread. Ike is becoming quite the popular pup when we parade by about six times a day.
Ask them if they have kippered salmon it’s hot smoked baked - your mouth will thank me. If they don’t have it Zabars does so do what ever is left of the old school delis

Greetings Michelle, This has cured the last of my cold it is odd that I have an injury that rains sounds flare up but recorded rain fixes it. which is odd. It is winter / dry season here in Australia, so I get chest pains that heal. I love the Houseboat imagery but i can never find a Hallmark romance movie with houseboats with which to celebrate my blood donation ( I have had to defer due to this cold ).
@@MichellesSanctuary I start and end each donation cycle with a royal romance ( parents are sick of princesses every 2 weeks ) I find them other things in between.
Sea gulls are remarkable birds. But be aware they are the most notorious organized avian crime syndicate. Imagine if pigeons got together and decided to embark on a theft crime wave. When I was little we went to seaside boardwalk and my sister got a Nathan’s hot dog with kraut I just got some fries and as we were walking away from the stand a gull swooped down and grabbed the dog with the Kraut. My sister was hysterical and traumatized has hated those birds since and anyone named gull or sea. Went vegan became a historic bird hunter and fowl murderer advocate. Only kidding about her reaction. Sea gulls like to hang out at garbage dumps as well as ships and go aggressively seek opportunities of snatching anything remotely edible or frequently excrete on your head I think for fun. Liked the story. I do like the sound of gulls like the community of the story the whole numina ambience and the magic. Watching the Tony’s now. More magic. You just said “noshing”- you are a real NY gal. Get some bialys you could make a profit on selling em in Jersey but hurry they go stale fast, that is a big houseboat this is a good cozy story. I’ll continue to watch Tony’s later this is better. ❤
They truly are insane-- but upon going too a beach without my niece recently she implored me to feed them a little something because it was her favourite thing to do. There was a time in Long Island recently where I tucked my bag of chips in the beach bag I used as a pillow and a brazen seagull snuck into it even as my head rested. I love the sound of them---the Tony's are in my neighborhood tonight. Quite a controversy that press wasn't allowed on the red carpet. My partner reviews shows so I did have quite a run this spring seeing many of the shows.
@@larrymarcus3176 I loved the music from "The Outsiders" but the show was a bit violent for someone as sensitive as me. Suffs was my favourite-- it surprised me, even if the much older critic next to me fell asleep halfway through the first act! I was really disappointed by Gatsby-- but it had the production value that as a teenager I dreamt about it was just quite empty. All the previews were when I first got the puppy, so I imagine being sleep-deprived at the time wasn't helping (but I didn't fall asleep during any show at least!).
