Loved the reality you put into this episode. Through no fault of your own or Claas western for that matter you were a little restricted timewise, however you gave a great snapshot. Tractors have got to be crazy money and loaded with a lot of high tech a farmer/operator may or may not need. I think you were brutally honest with yourself in regards to do you need the tractor. As a viewer really enjoyed it and while I do appreciate other aspects to your output, I also appreciate a bit of machinery as well. Thank you.
I remember when this new 400 series was launch, it was online, definitely improvement over previous model. With 46km speed, FPT engine n powerful hydraulics definitely one top picks as I am looking improving my farming efficiency. I be looking forward to more demo of Claas machinery/equipment as it hard to gauge when standing still, better seen in the field working.
Take it all Ian you do a grand job at not being a sales person and just giving your opinion on them. You might even get some other makes to try. Not every tractor ticks all the boxes so learning to live without some to gain some other ones is part of the course. Must admit though front linkage and loader is the way to go.. stay safe 🏴
I think the Claas looks a nice machine, for me the Massey would probably be my choice of the tractors you demoed although I'd still be looking very seriously at John Deere based on good service from my local dealer. I don't have a dog or like the thought of hairs in the cab. so definitely no dog seat for me!! I haven't seen anything i particularly disliked on any of the machines, ash tray makes a good pen holder or place to deposit your keys.
They are all well thought out machines, built to do the job. It’s surprising ( or not perhaps) how many major components many of them share. Tractor work can be lonely old job, having my best mate keeping me company and letting me know if there is anything about…. Bunnies, squirrels, fox, deer, trespassers takes a lot of the boredom out of the work. For the sake of the odd muddy footprint and some hair, it’s a price well worth paying. 🐶🙂👍🏼
Excellent snapshot. :) No included USB port would be the end of the sale for me. Every single piece of tech I own that would be used with a tractor needs a USB. From cameras to location equipment, sensors, and communication sets. A brand new tool like this definitely needs USB as standard equipment. I would also totally pay extra for a terrier platform.
Happy Christmas farmer p and your family and a get well soon to your grand son and your lovely wife I hope the new year is a lot better. from a big fan
We got around the need to grease the front suspension by putting two grease blocks one one each side piped to each fitting like an auto greaser only manual
The Arion and Axion seems much simplier than a Fendt. Even some of our Case seem confusing. Any with the displays can be complex when you just want to go to field
Good review Ian 👍 your comment if it goes wrong where would you start 🤔. Unfortunately new equipment is all gonna be equipped with high tech components and manufacturers don't want owner drivers trying to do repairs themselves 😔
Good evening Mr. P. good video I think I agree with you said about the Claas one thing you didn't mention is would the controls fit for the hedge trimmer. Hope your grandson and Mrs. P. are ok. Keep well and stay safe.
If you was going to be working a bit more with with Claas it could be worth seeing if you could get a Scorpion loader for demo, although i dont think they do a small version
I think you summed it up right at the begining of this video.........when your a farmer you have lots of different jobs to do each day on the farm and very often you don't get the time or have a huge amount of work to do with the tractor so therefore you wouldn't really be wanting to spend all that money just to use it for a couple of hours each day. as for the tractor itself it looks a nice bit of kit but i did think theres a lot of places inside the cab to gather dust and dirt also around the back especially around the cab suspension there seemed to be lots of places to hold the mud and dust. does the tractor have a push out hitch????? even my 14 year old SAME has a push out hitch
Christmas Greetings from central Illinois, USA. Got a chuckle from your temperature reading. We too are expecting -3 to -7 the days leading to Christmas. Problem is we still use that crazy °F scale. BURRR. Best of the Holidays to the family.
Great review, I would assume the Usb points would be on the bottom of the Light switches column under the black round flap perhaps???. Very expensive good piece of kit, would be ok with a few years warranty & servive plan, but after that runs out. I see very big maintanance bills for such a high electronical & hydraulic relied upon powered/driven machine. Also with Biskit bed on the shelf area which would be great with the bit of fresh air from the window, only wonder where you would be able to mount your flail controls to.?? 🥰💕💕💕
Just a tip, maybe have a look around the cab to see where stuff is and what it does first before you start filming. I really do hope that tractor isn't 150k. Thats a mental price and i suspect they won't sell many.
Hi there just watched your video on the claas 450 today and on the massey 5s 145 the other day.... Am thinking of getting a new 5ractor and 8t would be a toss up between the mf 5s or Thale claas 450,what wld u go for... Claas wld be 15 k more than the mf.. Have always had masseys so I'm not sure what to do... What wld be your thoughts?
Really struggling to understand the £147k price of the Claas. The FW 2022 guide listed these in the 90-100k bracket before the customary discount. Ok so the loader is £10k? And it did seem to have ever option ticked. Would have thought around 120k to-125k before discount- generally they have been more expensive than Case or NH and about the same as MF and cheaper than Deere. Anyone out there any recent price experience?
Great suggestion, terrier seat.lovely tractor, probably the best one I've seen so far, never knew u were near Cheltenham, are you far from stow on the woold.
Dear Tractor companies why don’t most of you find an old lorry Frame or even rebuild a brand New Lorry Frame to build stronger and better Tractors and put those Scania N113, Volvo B10M, Volvo D10A, Volvo TD102KF, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel engines for those stronger better Tractors so they can still use them for any farms and even lift a broken down Bigger Buses and even broken down Lorries, why don’t you build 6 and 7 seats so that other passengers can sit at the back and front including the driver. You can still build those four stronger medium sizes wheels and still make them even more farm tractor like than it still was before, please can you do those exciting idea’s for us tractor Lovers.
What I've heard is that Claas makes good machine but poor tractors. A big farm here has plently of Claas machines but no Claas tractor. You make good tractor reviews.
👀🙄🐾🎄👍 I thought CaseIh in Cirencester were going to do something similar with you? No Biskit Doesn't Abbigale want to follow in your foot steps Squire Pullen?
Hands in pockets moment Mr P so you cant get anything out LOL. You could do a hell of a lots of other things with 150K. That's a lot of beef / sheds and concreted yards from my end anyway. Cheers
Its funny how one can find fought on something you really dont need and probably can't afford, are you still going to have a test run on a JCB Telehandler or Skid-steer
I think that Tractors, like a lot of things, Phones, Cars, Whisky (!) there are fans who have favourites. and will always opt for a brand they know, trust and have local , quick, support when needed. For that you pay a price. I've always thought Claas, like Fendt, are top spec for top price, more suited to big farms and contractors. My view doesn't help you at all 😹 In your position I would look for a good used warrantied Tractor with what you really need regardless of Brand - but local support necessary.
Your existing tractor seems to be idle a fair percentage of the time I've watched your videos. Perhaps a heavier capability skid steer would do most of the work, and get a new seat arrangement (or drive a little slower) for the tractor that is probably paid for. How often are you hauling any amount of stuff from the other ground ? Let Reg wear his kit out for any heavy work. (Just being devils advocate)
Most farmers including myself have a dog with them everyday and no tractor manufacturer accommodate for a dog. Some of their footsteps are bloody dangerous for their legs. My Collie is part of the business so help's pay for the tractor.

Why care about the dog? The dog is your partner in the cab, probably spend more time with the dog than family in the summer, so dog not comfy you don't buy that tractor!

It occurred to me that this one could have handled both flails at the same time... barely. Would have been a glorious sound!
I remember when this new 400 series was launch, it was online, definitely improvement over previous model. With 46km speed, FPT engine n powerful hydraulics definitely one top picks as I am looking improving my farming efficiency. Both Sylvia and myself think the Ash tray would be an excellent container for Biskit's doggy treats .
Biskit agrees 😄🐶👍🏼
I'm with you on the dog - my terrier goes almost everywhere with me - car, pub, cafe etc. They won't let him in the supermarket though 🙂
Get a small basket with a cushion in it and a SHORT leash and he can.
Ian you do a fantastic job with the reviews. You can only do what you can with what you have got
True 😄👍🏼

Being french, the ashtray is no surprise, but where is the wine bottle holder and where do you keep your baguette?
the fridge under the little seat
And a long level place, all makes sense now
Great video, thanks
We got around the need to grease the front suspension by putting two grease blocks one one each side piped to each fitting like an auto greaser only manual
It was a great ride, but a bit over complicated for my liking.

i think the yellow button near the hazards is auto pto. so when you lift it turns off and you turn a drop it starts up again
The terrier shelf is a must...
Can't say I blame you especially on the price wise Ian
Hello from the Netherlands .
thanks for the video Ian .
Sincerely, Hollandduck
you can get a 12 plug adaptor to usb to plug in the 12v powerpiont
Nice Video Ian. Mans best friend, My collie goes every where with me.
14:10 great content again bit late tonight was watching mr olly blogs tractor run
The dog is the number 1
You can patent "The Biscuit seat" or bed.🐕🐕🐕🐶🐶.
I run the hedge trimmer and topper in 1000 pto then tickover on the revs at 540 use less fuel
A very good Monday evening to you all
Afternoon ian , great content as usual cheers 😄
I get what you mean with biskit my dog lady went with me in the tractor as well in the 80s long time ago 🐕
proper review
That green tractor was the best for you mr p
Spot on thinking about the great looking tractor. That’s a LOT of cash.
Most tractors will be that price now though unless you go for less known brands or cheap options
I would agree, but still a lot of expense.
Good evening Ian, Nice video look forward to the next one, Take care and stay safe and well.🚜🚜👍⭐️⭐️
Good evening Mr. P. good video I think I agree with you said about the Claas one thing you didn't mention is would the controls fit for the hedge trimmer. Hope your grandson and Mrs. P. are ok. Keep well and stay safe.
It’s a bit big for my little machine, I would be compelled to upgrade a lot of kit if I bought a bigger tractor.
Personal love the class , but you need to try a small fendt perfect small yard tractor with plenty , 412 or something on them lines
It is a nice tractor, but as you rightly said a bit overkill for the size of farm you have. I personally liked the New Holland you had on demo.
🙂👍🏼
If you was going to be working a bit more with with Claas it could be worth seeing if you could get a Scorpion loader for demo, although i dont think they do a small version

Hi all just to say hope you have a great Christmas and a happy New year to you all
What u really need it a small telehandler if u got to spend money it’s on something u will use every day
It is maybe done but the roller is it empty??? You can always make a wooden top. Where the dog bed can lay on.
great review ❤😊
Really nice looking tractor price was bit of a shock really good review Mr p
The retail price was for insurance purposes, you would never pay that price unless you were a fool afraid to negotiate. I love a good haggle 😄👍🏼
@@FarmerP can't beat a good haggle 👍

I wouldn’t like that, must be a right pain for livestock water.
You should have a go at john deere 5120m curve hood frontloader
Good review.
Maybe suggest electric foldable mirrors for an option on future models.
you should take on a Jd 6 series maybe. simple to use and drive. and alots better off any u demoed

Why not. Its a new tractor. I buy a 1997 Ford 7740 sle in summer.

I wondered that, but there was a clear screen across it, I didn’t want to pick it off….. Just in case 😬😄
Try a john deere 120m if you can get one on demo have one here really nice nippy tractor
You and Biskit are a team, I doubt you would function properly without her keeping an eye on you.
