Hi 😘 Do you find these tips on “casual chic” helpful? Would you like me to do another video for any other style? Any other video topic you would like to see?
Best pieces for pregnancy 🙏🏽☺️
I would like to see what companies you support for cloth shopping and why what companies you don’t and why? If they’re sustainable? If they’re worth the money and where to shop for what ? And how much should an item cost? I want to know if I’m over paying or under paying? Ect I bought a jean jacket for $25 and I guess I should’ve know better it hasn’t even been 6 months and it’s already fraying! I have started my capsule wardrobe thanks to you and want to invest in good pieces that will last me a long time not pieces that will fray soon! 😫
Ps i love you so much!
Can you do modest chic?
Super helpful!
I really appreciate this channel. I find certain RUclipsrs become a bit too brash, casual, annoying, and less informative after awhile in how they express their opinions. I love how personable and straight forward Justine is in every video. Always learning a new way to articulate things from her 🌻
I love how casually you speak and how simple your videos are. No fancy animation or music, just clear audio with a great voice! Thank you so much
Your “shoulder hole!”😃👏🏼👏🏼 and bracelet!😫 (I can’t take how cute it is.) Justine, you are the BEST PERSON ON THE PLANET. You do everything with care and precision and are quietly uplifting and inspiring people daily - well beyond the realm of style advice. Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much!!!
As wearing a sweatpants + hoodie combo right now, I feel called out haha
Haha 😄
🧐😄
"chic isn't just the way you look, it's the way you feel". So much this! It's taken me a long time to realise this, but comfort = confidence. (You also need style, but you know what I mean)! For me this particularly means footwear : if your shoes pinch, or are so high that you can't walk comfortably and elegantly, you just look like you're trying too hard, and are not comfortable in your skin. X
I love your point about telling the brain the distinctions between focussed work time and down time. It makes such a huge difference. Our brains are very tricky and will sabotage us without such instruction. I have also been stepping up my skin care and daily grooming as well as dressing attractively during quarantine/isolation to lift my spirits without sacrificing comfort. I am also about to celebrate a birthday and have planned a lovely 4 course dinner with champagne for the occasion. I've planned an amazing outfit that always makes me feel like a million bucks and solicits compliments (even though I'm dining solo). I am not about to let a virus drag me down to the lowest slovenly denominator. That level of resistance is always my choice.
great attitude!
Happy early birthday!
@@invisiblecube Thank you so much for adding joy to the occasion.
Happy early birthday too! It may sound weird but I felt very inspired and respect about your comment. Cheers!
Happy Birthday!😊🎁
I didnt quite get the matching your jewelry with lipstick tip until i looked down and saw your wrist. I really liked your look. Very chic indeed.
The texture does matter. Be it chic. Be it bohemian. Be it formal. I loved that bit!
I wish I had had access to a professional stylist in my youth, but better late than never, thank you, I feel more organized already!
I love the graceful & gentle, ivy league grad older sister vibes. this really is my Favourite channel 🥺💖
Thank you, Justine for your professionalism in regards to your video production. I so appreciate your direct and succinct style of presentation. Thank you for not making your viewers watch a long, musical intro every time They view one of your videos. Thanks for not sharing your cute pets or explaining something or some noise in the background, etc. I’m busy. I want to get to the point. I really have learned a lot from you about fashion that is meaningful in my own life. I’ve become more thoughtful about how my purchases impact our world in so many ways. I’m still learning, but I’ve become more focused on what I want from my closet and how to get it. Though still a work in progress, my wardrobe is much more in control than it once was. When friends tell me they have nothing to wear or it takes forever to get dressed, I refer them to you. Thank you.
You should create an app which could help people to create and follow their style! I really in need of something like that!
a good idea!
My favorite accessory at the moment is a mask 😷 I have a yellow and a pink one.
what's your undertone? :-)
Masks have a theme of tangling my hair. A video with hair accessories to go with masks? Or do a video on functional hair accessories.
@@carochan86 do they make silk masks?
@@labornurse lol how effective would those be? Soon someone will think of them. I'm thinking of more like functional hair accesries .
@@justineleconte Hi Justine! I would say I'm neutral, but more to the cool side.
Almost to 1M ! I remember when she only had 200K... I feel like a proud father 🤗 lol
LOL...
Instead of collecting souvenirs, a few years back I starting "collecting" photos of beautiful or interesting Churches in the places I visit.
I am not a photographer but most of these pictures were taken by me. I did purchase one. Now I have a gallery wall in my home of Churches that spoke to my heart when I saw them. I love this wall! Thank you Justine, for all of your inspiration!
"let's say you're wearing black from head to toe" ... yup, that's me, my wardrobe is 100% black. It's also minimalist, slightly more formal than necessary (I just love shirts okay), and somewhat androgynous although I do have some very feminine clothing that I enjoy wearing from time to time.
Wearing all black has made me recognize and appreciate materials, shapes, cuts, textures of clothes. Before, I had no sense of fashion, I wore blue jeans and ill-fitting T-shirts. Maybe I'll introduce color into my wardrobe in time, but my horizons have been widened with how much variety there can be with only one color.
I love this. I love that you are experimenting and loving your clothes ... but also, really 'owning' YOUR style. What a fabulous journey.
I heard a quote yesterday that you might appreciate, it wasn't about fashion but about grief: "Grief is love in a little black dress."
I would highly recommend alexandrasgirlytalk's video called the art of colour before you reintroduce colour into your wardrobe :) it teaches you to pick the right colour for you and it's very very eye opening
I love the look, but when I wear black, I feel like I have to walk around with a lint roller. Any advice there?
me too only black...
in summer , sometimes i'll add white pants ..
that's it ...lol...
I love black, each time I go to buy something I need, I tell myself no black, and then I am holding a black top or slacks..... I love to accessorize with jewelry, scarves, etc
I love your videos. I live in ranching country where clothing is of less importance, and people don't dress up very much anymore. I am a senior now and long for days where we dressed up to go out, and try to be stylish. It just makes me feel better to get out of jeans and wear something really stylish.
Thank you for reiterating that "Confidence. It's always chic!" 🔥🥰
I see it already has been mentioned, but still it's a great idea: a vid about the androgynous style!! I find the aesthetic to quite interesting
Adrianna Arleta Smolarek I like to point out that this isn’t new or anything if is just part of the 80’s
Merci Justine. I love the simple aesthetic and straightforwardness of your videos. You're also super chic! From Canada
hello to Canada!
hi, i just love your style, your way of talking, it's so soothing. you helped me very much to improve my taste. but beyond that, just listening to you, helps me psychologically, don't know why. maybe it's your positivity and good mood.
75vasso Exactly! That’s why she doesn’t compare to other fashion/style RUclipsrs. “Authenticity” has become a buzzword, so it’s losing it’s meaning - this here is the real deal.
I was watching your 2 and 3 year old videos for comfort ad motivation to take better care of my look and myself. These you have produced during the pandemic came to me tonight, and have been a higher level. Comfort, yes, but that there will be an end. It's April 2021. I need to start caring about this again, even if other humans are incredibly scary even after both vaccine doses. Thank You. I had my first business meeting in more than a year, and I wore make up, lightly. It felt good.
Wearing a nice outfit does so much for the mood! My way to dress up is usually just to add more accessories, jewelry etc. I generally feel more casual in more minimalist outfits, and adding more details make me feel fancier. I also consider makeup an important accessory, for example a statement lipstick can really dress up any look.
I have also come around to the same way of thinking, simple, chic timeless basics as a blank canvas, then dress up the look with a variety of make-up, lipsticks, manicures, hairstyles, accessoeries.
Your videos are always so fun to watch and i learn so much from them
Whenever i watch your channel i feel like i am in an elite design class.
Thank you for your awesome and unique content ❤
Lovely to hear that! That's very kind :-)
I feel the same way too!
@@Deve9416 😊🙌
Such an important distinction between statement-making about the moment, like at fashion weeks, and chic. I love ppl watching at fash week, but I also loved getting back to Montparnasse and St Germain, and seeing all the elan of the classic minimalists with their effortless undone Parisienne points. I learned so much watching them, I am forever grateful. Merci Beaucoup for this awesome vid, two years later!
Thank you Justine for this video! Yes, more on “casual chic” please! I’ve been studying how to be chic for 30 years now (I turn 57 tomorrow)... I took my mother to Paris when I was 22 and all I did was watch the women and observe what they were wearing... Being very petite I bought books on “petite chic”, etc. During quarantine, I’ve been wearing my favorite Top Shop jeans, a few cashmere sweaters, and maybe a long scarf wrapped around my neck as it’s quite cold here in New Hampshire....
Happy “early” birthday to you! Stay warm and enjoy the day!
I agree that texture is a very overlooked aspect of fashion. Pairing a slippery polyester fabric with linen or wool is no-no. It took me a long time to truly appreciate the importance of texture in an outfit.
Thank you for this great video as usual, Justine!
My neutral is blue. It's one of the easiest colours to wear and combine in my opinion. Only finding blue shoes is the most difficult part... A pair of navy ballerinas is essential in my wardrobe.
I don't know.. I have this rich aubergine tunic top and a dark wash denim jeans..and I feel like those never go together 😅
You should check out French Soul. They have multiple types of ballerina’s in blue shades.
Another blue lover here. And when it comes to chic, especially evening, I think that navy outfits are more elegant than black outfits.
@@ufosrus And less harsh!
@@ufosrus I love navy also! Very elegant.
Trendy and Chic, two different things. Yesss!!
I Love all of your tips and advice on dressing well. I also want to say that I enjoy watching your videos because you present with a calm soothing nature and happy smiles. Some other videos like yours on style are hard to watch for me if the presenter is loud and overly dramatic. I appreciate your videos and look forward to seeing more. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge .
I think I could listen to you just sharing your thoughts and opinions - even on the same topics - over and over and never get tired of it. I always get something new out of your videos even if it’s the 4th time I’ve watched it!
This video is a nice reminder to know my personal style to proper harmonize color, incorporate accessories, footwear and consider garment texture to name a few because after all...”Confidence is always chic” 😉
So much respect for you, other fashion designers and stylists because everything you all put out are well thought through; something often gets disregarded or forgotten. Thanks for the reminder :)
You're very welcome!
Texture! Yes, yes, yes. The fabric and the texture are so important as is the fit. Wonderful information, as usual.
When it feels good it shows. That is confidence. I have home office for 20 years. Nothing changed. I wear colourfull dresses and cardigan. Mostly green for me as ginger. 🙏Take care from Amsterdam ❤💚
Great video Justine! I really like Uniqlo trousers, precisely because they are proper trousers that you can even wear to work, but they are comfortable and flexible. I can even wear some of their trousers to bed!
P Narenpithak which ones in particular do you find very comfortable?
I recently made a pair of palazzo pants out of some batik in my stash. They are so fun to wear.
Today was just a lazy white gown and a garnet necklace day yet I'm feeling glamorous 💝
Excellent as always and particularly the tip on texture ! Stay safe & well 😊
I love this topic! Perhaps you could do a "part 2" for this video and show us how you yourself do this with your wardrobe - if you could actually model your own unaccessorized outfit, then accessorized in your own beautiful style. I love to see real-life examples "in person" (virtually of course). It helps me even more to see it IRL.
Thank you for your guidance. I lost my way with clothing after growing my dyed hair out back to grey duting the pandemic and just couldn't see what suited me after that, but your advice has really helped me.
I have discarded half of clothes and shoes etc. Which has bee very freeing, now l can see my favorite pieces and how they can all work together. I can also see the red pieces l need to make these clothes work better, a belts, black jacket etc.
"confidence is always chic" ! J'adore !
Great video, as usual. Thank you Justine.
Never clicked this fast on any video notification 👏👏 Stay safe
You too 💙
Yes 💖 and hit like, I just know I'm gonna love it.
Yes! Lovely video. I really liked the color matching section. Especially the 'modern' style of mixing colours that are next to each other on the colour wheel. Never done that! I guess I'm going to have a fun evening styling my clothes :D
Sometimes without trying too hard I put together an outfit and it works. Makes me feel very confident. Thanks for this video.
Such a helpful video for a person like me who is 100% not able to coordinate style/color etc easily. Thank you!!
You are the best, i absolutely love your videos! I subscribed to many channels but yours is the only one i hit the ring bell button for 😅
Wow, thank you 😍
I love the topics she tackles and how they are explained in detail. She is not biased at all. Thank you! You have taught me so much about fashion. You have influenced me and I love it more now. ☺️
Wow, thank you!
Matching lipstick to accessories is SUCH a great tip that I can't wait to try! Thank you Justine
yes, i liked that one too.
Justine, you are so lovely. I adore your videos. I agree 100% that minimalism is more chic! I also agree that texture is so often an after thought, or not at all. Love these videos. Thank you for sharing yourself with us!!❤
Would love to see some of the ideas modeled by yourself x
different/luxury textures are my favourite way to feel chic!
PLEASE talk about the causal - chic a little androgynous look. I'm thinking Emma Watson's street style.
I second this!
I third this!
Yes definitely this!!!!!! LOVE her street clothes.
Androgynous is not chic. Sure Hepburn had short hair but her style was always distinctively feminine ✌🏼
@@mattkierkegaard9403 erm why must chic=Hepburn? 🤔🤔
I love textures and variation in tones all worn together. Looks relaxed and elegant especially in neutrals, I think.
I agree
Definitely! Minimalism is timeless and super chic! I am a big fan. 😍😊
I love that this is basically what I already do, but I DID recently invest in a cloth headband (despite having short hair) and I've been loving it!
You are THE BEST! Thank you, Justine! ❤
These tips are wonderful for those of us who are postpartum and not wanting to live in pjs/sweats/athleisure! I recently had my third baby and gained more weight this round so its been challenging to find stuff in my wardrobe that makes me feel good. My second son has made a point of picking out earrings for me ☺️
Hey Justine! could you maybe make a video on how to combine bottoms with a "different" design ( like the Palazzo ones) with shoes and coats? I love that style, but I'm often reluctant to wear them because I don't think they look nice with flat boots or long coats (I feel like a bag of potatoes!) And other than with summer clothes I struggle to make a cute outfit with them.
Thanks for your video. Very interesting, as usual :)
Completely agree with the concept of “telling my brain it’s time to focus.”
Thank You Justine. I think you’re fabulous in your styling advise,
i love bell sleeves brought in atv the cuff... it definitely adds a little pizazz to a pair of jeans and flats
Thanks for your videos, I find them super calming. Sending positive vibes from New Zealand.
I love to crochet. After years of crochets a variety of items, I am able to look at a crocheted garment in a store or magazine and copy it without a pattern. I can then reproduce the top/skirt/scarf/hat in the color and fiber that suits me. I choose natural fibers mostly and think of how the color fits into my wardrobe. How the yarn feels and drapes is so important. I'm also petite (under 5 feet), so creating clothes that actually fit me is empowering. My goal is to move toward sewing my clothes or buying what I want from thrift stores.
Always good advices! Thanks Justine!
It is a very French thing to say 😊 here in my country we love colors and patterns, for our traditional fabric (batik) made into pajamas or even party dress
I applied the Justine way of dressing to a job interview recently and ended up getting the job. 🥰
Hey Justine! Maybe you could help us style “animal print” in formal wear. I love leopard, but I know it can be tacky if not done right.
I’ve tried leopard palazzo pants paired with a black fitted blazer and gold loop earrings. And a little black simple dress, black simple shoes, with a cocktail leopard jacket and red D&G mini bag. 💁🏼♀️ I think I did ok, but I need more ideas...
Yes, yes! I would like to see that too! :)
me too ! I love animal prints but feel the same
Seconded
ooh, just was thinking maybe paired with a muted neutral apart from black like a taupe. i guess it depends on the dominant colour in the animal print? don't look at animal print as a animal print, think of it as a pattern to complement like you're looking at the colour wheel. as for jewelry, depends where you want to go, myself, i love semi chunky bangles mixed in with gold bangles running up my forearm. ive got a gorgeous turquoise (sleeping beauty turquoise) oval shaped bangle done in the style of marquetry and has mother of pearl inlay interior. cost me a bomb but i love it dearly and i pair it with multiple gold bangles and bracelets and i love the effect❤️ also, id go impressive earrings and simple necklace as your neck is part of your torso which has the animal print on it.
one of my fave outfits i have is a high waisted black skinny straight leg jeans, fitted black jersey knit top with slightly blouson low v neck, a vintage dark dark brown fake fur (back when fake fur looked real or it was a good faux fur) with ehru collar, 4 inch python stacked heels and a cute rose gold anklet. so yes, black top and bottoms, but, textured dark brown fur jacket pairing back with python heels.
I second that
Merci, Justine! Confined at home as we all are, it's easy to fall into a torpor. Tips like these are inspiring & fun to play with even if we're not going outside. To keep my spirits up, I've been making sure to shower & wear pants (well, sweatpants) every day, but your video takes it to the next level. This is a good time for those of us who aren't French to channel our inner French girl & add a little chic, a little style, to the simple outfits we're wearing each day.
When I like a video I usually click thumbs up early in the video. But I was so captivated this time I almost forgot. Great information. Thank you honestly.
Thanks!
I couldn't believe it when I read the title of the video. This is just what I need. Thank you, Justine 🤗. The cut-out shoulder in your black top definitely transformed it from 'casual' to 'chic'. Great choice for the video.
Thanks!
Justine, you bring sanity to my days...I binged-watched your last video “Copying with self-isolation & preparing for the after-covid19”. Thanks..I wonder where Germany is on shelter-in-place...I will have to google it. God bless your work and protect your goings and comingsm🌸
I started following when you had just a few thousand followers. You’re giving such good info and that and your great personality are exactly why you’re so loved 💛💛💛
agree about texture: one of my favourite looks is something 'casual' with heavy, architectural design in the texture, eg super heavy ribbed jumper or dress, usually needs some nylon to support the wool or cotton; or 'pleats please' type pleating; or the weird quilted texture eastern europeans liked in sweatpants and tops for a while
Ahh so simple when you lay it out .. pleased to say I follow a lot of those rules already - thank you. Would you do a video on how to dress for a cocktail party, theatre etc so more on the formal side?
the palazzo or wide-leg pant is my go-to as I work from home all the time. You always look/feel dressed up but I can sit cross-legged or take a break and do a stretch no problem!
Love you and your sister Marie-Anne 🙏💕 Continued success😘
that‘s why fashion stylist is a real job - 🤣 - I love you !!
Thankyou Justine for sharing your knowledge in style etc, I am interested in learning how to dress for a 5ft 3in person, 66yrs old 😊who feels much younger on the inside... I will look at your video on determining my style.....you may laugh, that I would be unsure at such an age ? But I haven't given up on myself and want to present ( friendly/casual, yet put together....Looking forward to learning more from you. Thankyou 💐🙏
ahhh... listening to her voice and content is so soothing right now with all the caos we are living . thaaank you! and as always great topic!
Just brilliant Justine...what I've come to expect from you! Very inspiring and reassuring...thank you.
Thank you so much Justine. Because of you I understand style so much better! I would however like a video on texture and how it affects style. Thanks.
You are always inspiring Justin! Learned so much from you! From body shapes to sustainable fabrics, part of my wardrobe overhaul towards a sustainable fashion ethos has come from learning in your channel. Though my fashion videos are not 100% sustainable yet, I have learned some ways on being a conscious consumer and your tips and insight as a designer has helped along the way. Keep it up!❤
Very fun video. Yes, I found the tips very useful! Please do create more styling videos. Thank you!~
Perfekt! Totally perfekt! Exatly what I need😀. The monochrome you have talk about before, and I think about it when I get dressed. Perfekt video ❤️
# Justine, This type of video is very helpful to me now. Because I am building up company on line. I have been focusing on my late husband who recently died of Prostrate cancer. I am a bit out of touch with fashion. Thank you for the awesome value you present in your videos.
I would LOVE to see your colorful shoe collection that we never see on You Tube!
I did a shoe collection video ;-)
You are my favorite internet person! I just purchased your unique and beautiful JL Charlotte ring. I'm so excited to receive it and think of you when I wear it!
Im unfashionably early. But happy to hear Justine.
there is no such thing ;-)
I agree that less is more often more chic. The favourite outfits of women I admire are always a bit understated but with one piece of thing (an interesting piece of Jewelry, the way they tied their scarf, the pattern of the blouse under the jacket etc) ’ that just makes the whole thing pop!
Hi Justine, The bracelet you're wearing is superb! I so enjoy these style theme videos and would love to see one featuring menswear/tomboy/androgynous looks.
Love this. I would love longer videos! Maybe another series on Parisian life. Or a Berlin Basics series.
I love playing with textures and silhouettes to break the neutral monochromatic colour scheme. Really a great way to add personal flavor to otherwise basic wardrobe.
I agree that what I wear helps me focus on the task at hand. I transition from pjs to work out wear, then it's either my cleaning outfit or gardening outfit, depending on whether I'm inside or outside, then my actual work outfit as I sit in front on my computer for a few hours, then pjs again. I know it sounds like a lot of clothing changes, but it works for me, especially during this time when the normal cues aren't there. Stay safe😷
I try to be monochromatic with some floral or colourful scarf to go with it. I love your videos and how intelogently you put up things. You are awesome. Hope you are in full spirits with hype of your creativity in this locked down, I was depressed than I managed to keep myself busy
Those more baggy pants are a great idea
Justine! You have no idea how happy I was to see you today! Thanks for your video.
Hi Justine, I would love to see a video on the evolution of the apron, and which ones to wear with different outfits. For many years now, I wear a peasant-style apron in the morning while food prepping for the day, and another after showering and getting fully ready for the day's housework/chores including hair, makeup, scarf or pearls, skirt or dress with matching loafers - that's my style :) My apron collection includes some antique (beautifully hand-stitched, worn and laundered carefully), vintage (frills, etc.), and modern but feminine in neutral colors. They mean a lot to me, tons are still sold so tons of us still wear them, and it would tickle me pink to see a video on this. If you designed an apron, what would it look like? Take care.
I could listen to you all day- thanks for posting 🥰 also I just found out I’m pregnant so any advice for big bellies would be much appreciated! 😂❣️
if you want to "hide" it, take my video on "how to dress when you've gained weight". Or "how to hide a tummy". Otherwise, wear dretchy, supportive fabrics and enjoy life :-D
Jane Congratulations!!🎊
Congratulations. Wrap dresses and wrap top and palazzo pants. That way still have shape and comfort together. I changed my fashion style to this 29 years ago when pregnant with our son and still wear this style today.😀
Yay!! 🥰 I’m super stoked that even though everyone’s tips are somewhat simple I’ll still have a lot of options ☺️ Thank you everyone!!!! 💞🙏🏽
I wore runched tops after having my son to hide my belly pooch
I would've loved to see you in some of the complete outfits you described or if you included visuals of people wearing complete outfits like the ones you described. But it was a very informative video non the less!
