I have a 21ft holiday that needs repowered and we ls everything we can. Didn't think this was such a good option but now I gotta watch more. Heard you say Michigan. I'm in kalamazoo. You've done a fantastic job, I'm sure I'll have quotations. Just heading to the shop to wrap up our turbo 5.3 square body mud truck we have been building for 12months.
The only time I've ever been able to make it cavitate is wot around a tight corner, and even then it rarely does it. I obviously built it for rivers but the boat does really well in very heavy chop. The deep vee hull combined with the added weight make it surprisingly good out on big water. Especially if you keep it trimmed all the way down cuts thru waves nicely. Never any cavitation tho even with following waves
@@roncook8566 Yeah thats a nice combo. I did a 787 seadoo in a 16 mod V and it hates chop following. Excellent down to 2" of river but not great at all as a big water boat. Been eager to build a starcraft 18 deep V tiller as my second rig just not looking forward to spending any money lol.
Not quite sure yet I've been keeping it under 50 mph. The bottom still needs a bit of work so at high speeds it gets a little weird and uneasy feeling lol. The pump also is in desperate need of a rebuild. We kind of did just enough to make it float for this season lol. This winter we're gonna tear it back down and finish it up

Not 100% sure. 15 footers are kinda rare. I've seen quite a few 15ft jetstars and the hull looks the same but they're always older and have the old curved windshields. This boat I think was built in 1975, which explains the newer style windshield. It originally had 2 captains chairs, a small rear bench and the large riveted tray for all the outboard rigging. I've literally never seen another one like it, for sale or otherwise
@@roncook8566 Whatever it is you've done an awesome job on it. I'd been thinking of doing a jet jon type of conversion to my 68 but seeing what you've done has opened up the possibilities. I've since watch more of your videos and it certainly looks identical to my Jetstar. Wasn't sure how long they made them so did some looking and have found them into the early 70's but also found a 15' Nova that also looks identical to them in the mid 70's. The windshields got squarer in the 70's but that windshield looks more like an 80's or 90's windshield perhaps it's been rebuilt before it made it's way to you.
6-8" or so? No plastic yet. We were gonna add more aluminum to the bottom first then maybe uhmw. It's mostly logs where I've been boating not much gravel
@@roncook8566 I live in TN, LOTS of rock. Been debating whether to build a kit w jetski or a 16 to 18ft size w LS and Berkley, or a Hamilton. I'm torn. Lighter the better, is what keeps popping in my head.

Just based on this video, you seem to a good balance with hull shape and horsepower. Have fun!
Makes the beavers stand up and salute!!
How does that do on choppy lakes when your running with the wind at your back, any cavvy?

That boat is awesome
Bottom part of saginaw river ? Always welcome to launch outta our marina in baycity too
The beauty. It is stable, there is no side swing. What is the maximum speed?

@@cornbinder1970 if you did at least an 18 modified V maybe even a 2072 I think you could run a V8 setup and draw very little water
