Done 11 of those! Got my green number = 31166 Comrades is just the most euphoric thing ever!!!!!!!!!!! Its the most accomplished I've ever felt completing anything I've done! It is thrilling and painful and joy and suffering and emotional and so fulfilling it is indescribable! Hope you guys come back and bring friends....
I ran comrades last year for the first time and your video made me shed many tears because it brought back such good memories of my run! The support along the route is second to none and crossing that finish line is tear inducing indeed 😅🥲
Heyyyyyy you were in South Africa!!! 😁😁😁 I ran my first Comrades Marathon last year as well... My life goal is to get a Green Number (run 10 races). Thank you for showing the world our beautiful race.
Awesome video, Sarah. Well worth waiting for. I know you're busy with Ben's channel, but your videos are always good. Looking forward to the next one 👍
Ah man. I love the enthusiasm and how invested you international guys are in Comrades. I ran this last year (23) as my down run, 6 years after my up finish. I really hope you are back on Sunday for your up run and back to back medal.
I have heard about this race from running friends from South Africa many years ago. They were instrumental in introducing to running some 40 years ago. It was exciting for me to see the course on race day with your terrific video. Thank you so much and congratulations.
Great video Sarah - it captures so much of the magic of Comrades. I spoke to you a couple of kilometres into the race and I ended up finishing in 9:53 so I must have been a couple of minutes behind you the whole way. Those buses like the 10 hour one can mess with your mind and your race plan at Comrades, because I think in many cases they run the first half a bit too quickly. I ended up passing them with about 6km to go.
South African here. Inspired to take part in this marathon one day. Two Oceans is the first on my bucket list. Great video and congratulations on finishing. 🎉
So lovely to see Sarah. My mum is South African and I went to uni there. My grandparents lived in Durban (and Hillcrest b4 that which is a place you’ll have run through) and I spent many happy holidays there as a child. Doing the Comrades is number 1 on my bucket list. The cost of getting there, hitting somewhere to stay etc does scare me. The huge crowd at the start makes my anxiety slide upwards. But nevertheless, this is the one I want to do above all others. Well done on a brilliant race (and time!!!) and I hope it goes well for you both next month 😊
LOVELY to see you sarah, please come back again soon, it's totally your fault i 'm training for my first ultra so I need lots more tips tricks and smiley Sarah to inspire me and get me through x
Wow Sarah have been waiting on this. Have done this race 3 times and the start line is an experience in its self. Looking forward now to see how Ben gets on in a few weeks.
You're back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to watch this one! Also, I've been wearing your new Road/Trail/Mountains hat and get compliments on it everytime!
Last ran Comrades in 2012 but remember every step of the race. There’s no other race like it. One of the hardest parts was watching the folks in the stadium fall just short of the 12 hour cut off as they closed down the finish line.
It’s 4:42am Monday morning in South Africa right now and I watching this beautiful video. Can’t get over comrades runners vlog . Ohhh I started watching other videos at 3am ..
There is nothing wrong with crying after finishing a race like Comrades. Not every runner even makes it to the finish line and those that do deserve to shed every tear they can. Awesome job getting that sub 10 hour.
Oh I’m so glad you put this one out Sarah! Absolutely amazing run! 54 miles on the road is no mean feat! Smashed it 🎉 And thanks for making us laugh at the end 😂
The down run was so much fun and I started the race with no time goal in mind. It was also my last Comrades because the training was taking a toll on my everyday life. The up run still gives me nightmares to this day! I hit the wall at around 50km and although I live in a hilly place in the world, I hated those hills. Cowies, Fields, Botha's, Inchanga and Polly Shortts are words that give me PTSD 😭 Good luck to you and go get that back-to-back medal! It looks great!
Great video. I’m sure we were both on Bruce’s bus tour. It’s a race that so challenges you and asked you questions you don’t want to answer. (Btw you still beat me in getting your video out!)
Great video. I'd never considered doing Comrades but I think you've changed my mind. The atmosphere around the London marathon is the best thing about it and this looks even better. I wonder if it's harder going down than up.
Brilliant to see you back on the tube. You are an excellent presenter and your videos are always interesting. Please give yourself time to maybe do a video once a month. Well done at Comrades an excellent result.
Well done after doing marathons and Ironman triathlons for 30 years this is my favourite race ever the support and atmosphere is outstanding. I was 1 hour behind you . Not bad for a 64 year old I suppose
Wow, Sarah, this video is like a burst of energy! Seeing you back on the screen feels like reconnecting with an old friend. Well done on the Comrades Marathon, it looks like a true experience like no other, and you've captured its essence beautifully. Can't wait to lace up my shoes and hit the road inspired by your journey! 🏃♂👟
Thank you for your amazing, inspiring video! I grew up watching comrades and am hoping to go back to SA to run it in the next few years, as well as the 2 Oceans!
I'm so glad you shared your "ugly cry" b/c, having just taken up long distance running this past December, I've had a cry at the end of every one of my long runs.
You pushed on, loved the experience, and probably made us all emotional as you crossed the line. congratulations in both completing the Comrades and releasing a new clip. no fuss, honest and enjoyable. Well done!
Was just wondering what i could watch for a bit of a pre run motivation and out of nowhere you uploaded again, perfect timing :D And looks like a wonderful race to run, although nothing id ever consider doing :D
Thanks for the video Sarah. 'See you' at the start line in Durban on the 9th! Good luck to both of you! The Up Run is brutal ito the amount of climbing, but your legs will take less pounding, even though there's still quite a bit of downhill due to the undulating nature of the course. Last year's final gun scene was strangely and awkwardly silent as the final cut-off point's cutt-off time was actually scheduled a few minutes too early. It caused huge controversy. This year you should get to experience the massacre of that last few minutes. It's gut wrenching and very special at the same time.
I’m so glad you posted this video, I’ve been looking forward to it for 11 months! Recognising the parts of the course that you’re on reminds me of the emotions that I felt at the various stages throughout the race. Comrades is a very special race with so much history behind it, from Chariots of fire and the cock-crow at the start to Arthur’s seat and all of the bits in between. I really hope you recover enough to run again this year so that you can experience the up run too. Good luck to both of you!
Wow, that looked absolutely incredible. Definitely a bucket list race. I've got some work to do to get there of course. Loved the video. Welcome back Sarah 👍
Awesome run. Well done. I was hoping you would make this video. I met you and Ben on the plane going to Durban. Glad you guys are coming back. Great time. Sub 10...very impressive
I love the traditions and the high spirits and joviality around this race. Still nowhere near being able to cover this distance, but maybe for my 40th birthday in a couple years
Very cool looking race! Thank you for uploading again. You’re my fav running RUclipsr, so I’m happy to see something new from you. Until next time, I’ll see you on Strava!
What an amazing run. Congratulations!!! Thanks for taking the time to share it, which must be a hard slog when you are running that race. Good luck to you both for next year. :)
Omg, I'm so happy to finally see this vid, and to experience your experience; I remember that clip of Ben's vid last year showing your happy finish so great to see the flushed out run. Well Done Sarah, it's been a dream of mine for a long time and you captured all the feels, and everything I've heard it will be. Hope you are headed back to run again, and some solid motivation to also get there. Best!
I met you and Ben last year, Friday or Saturday I'm not sure, in front of the hotel we stayed. Ben told me he was injured, but you managed to finish so well.. congrats! I hope to meet you again this year.. All the best, you are awesome!
A new Sarah Place video. Fab.
Done 11 of those! Got my green number = 31166
Comrades is just the most euphoric thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!
Its the most accomplished I've ever felt completing anything I've done! It is thrilling and painful and joy and suffering and emotional and so fulfilling it is indescribable!
Hope you guys come back and bring friends....
Cool number.
I ran comrades last year for the first time and your video made me shed many tears because it brought back such good memories of my run! The support along the route is second to none and crossing that finish line is tear inducing indeed 😅🥲
the support was crazy wasn't it!! couldn't help but sob at the finish line!
Fabulous video ❤ and please make more 😊
I totally agree, as I wipe the tears rolling down my cheeks!🥲 I ran my first last year, what an incredible experience. One month until the up!💪
Heyyyyyy you were in South Africa!!! 😁😁😁

We have missed that smile
Lets go champ
One of the greatest accomplishments of my life! It’s a journey that creates character!!! Truly Humbling and Honest!
I have heard about this race from running friends from South Africa many years ago. They were instrumental in introducing to running some 40 years ago. It was exciting for me to see the course on race day with your terrific video. Thank you so much and congratulations.
Congratulations Sarah. I never wanted to do this race and now I REALLY want to do it!!! This is SO frigging EPIC❤
if you can make it happen then i would a million out of ten recommend doing it!!!
@@SarahPlace I had heard about Comrades but this was the first video I watched. I was teary eyed at the end.

I ended up passing them with about 6km to go.
Congratulations Sarah. I ran in 2017, and it remains one of the best experiences I've had.
OMG! Was in tears at that finish line...You captured the course highlights so well! I'll be back for number 7 this year. C U then! :)
South African here. Inspired to take part in this marathon one day. Two Oceans is the first on my bucket list. Great video and congratulations on finishing. 🎉

Welcome back Sarah! 😊
Been waiting almost a year for this! I have done 3 of them and I really want to get back next year for another down run
Wow Sarah have been waiting on this. Have done this race 3 times and the start line is an experience in its self. Looking forward now to see how Ben gets on in a few weeks.
Oh Sarah, you made me cry. Thank you for taking us along. Greetings from 🇨🇭Karina ❤
Great video, and a cracking result - well done Sarah!
Please don't leave it years until the next one... 🙂
Amazing achievement Sarah.
I'm not sure i should have found it so humorous that The Last Post was played at the 12 hour cut off though!
Incredible race! More videos from this channel please! These race vlogs are cracking.
You're back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to watch this one! Also, I've been wearing your new Road/Trail/Mountains hat and get compliments on it everytime!

Yes!! So pleased to see you posting again. Congratulations. Great video. You’re an inspiration ❤
Sarah, your videos are so entertaining and simply great, I do not hope there will be another hiatus of two years :-) Maybe a video once a year?
Great video, thanks for sharing! I think I would be crying all the way, seems like a really moving race. Hope you have a great time this year!
She’s back! ❤

You finished about 7mins ahead of me. Comrades marathon is totally indescribable. You have to be a part of it to understand. Tearfuk as I type.
Great video. I'd never considered doing Comrades but I think you've changed my mind. The atmosphere around the London marathon is the best thing about it and this looks even better. I wonder if it's harder going down than up.
