They were also on a short-lived show called "The Music Scene", prime time on ABC, exactly 9 months later, December 1, 1969. Other guests that night were Neil Diamond and Mama Cass. 40 years ago tomorrow night as I write this!
1968 in another CCR classic, I Put a Spell On You, I couldn't believe my eyes then. I found that video four years ago and it still amazes me how different he looks today and how he sounds today.
Was only 23 when he wrote. He got his honorable discharge from the army and on the same day wrote this. It's as if the stress of the military melted away and his creativity all of sudden blossomed. Makes sense.
The dialect he's using is sort of mixture of southern accents. Little bit of cajun, Southern Appalachian, and African-American from Louisiana/Mississippi gulf area. Like he's been listening to old country and black blues and just put them together. And in a damn nice way, nonetheless. I say this as a native Southerner.
@@allymayful Yes indeed because Brian didn't die until July 3, 1969 & CCR came on the scene in 1967. Proud Mary came out a few months before he died(Jan 69' ) and Bad moon rising April 69'. Also their self titled album in 1968 (I put a spell on you; Susie Q) What I'm saying is they were well known before he died.
@@allymayful the model for Brian's new band after he quit the stones was ccr ....and he only heard their first two albums .... but he was obsessed with proud mary.... Bill Wyman talk's about it in he's book "stone alone" !
Martin Walter these people are CCR? Admitted they look a bit like them but so do the Counterfeit Rolling Stones, as the Stones. Go to the videos on the right, 4th down and compare them. John's body language sure don't compare, and neither do the others. Neither can I find a picture of John with a moustache. I am not critising CCR, I think they are one of the best groups ever.
Yeah, John Fogerty had a mustachio for 5 minutes in the early days of CCR-if you check out the 1st album they put out you can see him with it on that-not a great look
Vinylsolution-thanks for these outstanding videos, love this time era in my life-so many of these songs bring back fond memories of my childhood from the late 60's early seventies!!!
...big wheel keeps on toyning, proud Mary keeps on boyning...! ........Brilliant. Great song.

And he was like how old when he wrote this? Genius.

Esse é o meu vídeo favorito de Proud Mary. Muito bom.
A golden oldie
A world of difference from what Fogerty sounds like today.

@@pedrolourenco1606 So interesting. Love these stories. Altho would have been better is Brian had survived.
I like the black and white its fits the era and song, should have been a live recording though. I like it
Wow...just great!! Is this their first ever television appearance?
Wish I could find the actual live of this tv segment. If anyone does find it, please post it!
Excellent CCR 1969 song, R.I.P. Tom Fogerty, a great guitar player!!
THANK YOU!!!
this is great! how did you get it?
Does anyone know where I can find The Gripping Force on Happening 69?
@rbrjony: Already knew that (like 30+ years ago). And that has nothing to do with the question at hand.

It's CCR, early 1969. I Put a Spell On You showed them the same way.
