Something weird in the woods?

- I went foraging for mushrooms in a Hertfordshire woodland and came across a very strange object. Sylvie and I went back the following day and I took my video camera with me. This thing is about five feet across. I'm wondering if it was connected to an old World War II airfield situated nearby?
It’s a WW2 gun turret. On the both sides the 2 bigger holes the mounting holes, and the two smaller holes the seat mounting holes.
Ps: show to Julian please, he would love this.

It looks like a gun copula . Hole is for a machine gun . See the pill box society .presivaton of ww2 defences . The is a loop wall opposite the church at saffron Walden too . That is a rare find . I will pass this to the pill box society. . Nice pill box on a golf course in Luton . Lovely one in hawthorn woods by essendon .
80 years ago, WW2, the trees don`t look old enough to have been there then, so what ever else was there has been removed except for the iron dome. Still don`t know what it is though.
Old WWII airfield close by. RAF Panshangar, which was a decoy airfield.
There are some old trees in there but it is a managed woodland so trees are replaced when cut down.

You could look up what bombs were dropp3d in that area or send yr video to a ww historical group they might b able to shed some light on it

What’s that behind your wife right at the very end. Is it just a bunch of trees fallen over or a man made structure? No clue what the other thing is. Hope someone knows!
That's probably where someone has stacked chopped wood?
