Someone else pointed this out but the video makes the book look much smaller than it is it truly is massive. Well worth the wait. I knew from peoples reviews that this was a classic but it went so beyond my expectations. This book is a masterpiece truly! I’ve been collecting everything I didn’t have already to start the first 9 day initiation and I’m finally ready to start next new moon. Im thrilled and can’t wait! Everything you said about Jack I can’t help but agree with. He’s definitely one of the GOAT in Western Occultism. I can’t help but want to correct you on one thing though Dennis.. Hecate was one of three Titans that weren’t sent to Tartarus - the other two were Helios and Prometheus who were sometimes conflated with each other. I’ve seen it referenced in the PGM that Helios in one version of the myth was who fought Typhon in the myth which seems to me either Zeus & Helios are either two sides to a however sided coin or there was an ancient Solar cult in Greece we weren’t aware of. It makes sense because also in the PGM you can find that Ra (Phre in PGM) & Osiris were seen as one deity.
@@ramseydoon8277 I’m not even a quarter of the way through lol there is no way someone could go through this in six months even without a job and no responsibilities. This book really earned its mark as a classic and I have yet to see anything that comes close to this book. I also work full time while taking two other classes so I’m going very slowly.
I bought the last book available of this 4th edition! Saw it was the last one and didn't hesitate, clearly meant for me! Instantly felt a connection when I started flipping through it. Will work with it in the future for sure
I so wish I could afford this version or the first edition ( that horse cover is amazing ). But, I recently ordered the Medea version and I’m so excited to deepen my already close relationship with Hekate. Great video as always!
It had taken like 3 months longer on the pre-order than they'd listed, but finally received my own copy. It was definitely making me nervous given some of my previous experiences with pre-orders gone bad... So for anyone looking for a copy this apparently is a title you have to be patient for, at least the numbered editions.
Wow thats good it gives a test of sort to see if you are ready or compatible with Hecate. Sometimes the entity you are trying to contact wants nothing to do with you. I just experienced this where the "gnomes" where getting so bad for 2 1/2 months an entirely different entity stepped in and told me to stop and demanded the one I tried to invoke to stop! Devine intervention
I’d been looking for a copy of the first three editions for ages and was thrilled when it came out. Absolutely fell in love with it the second it arrived. Still waiting for the proper time to work through it. The artwork in this edition is beautiful. The binding quality kind of bummed me out. But that just means this one isn’t for knocking around in my backpack every day.
Gorgeous book! Wonderful artwork by Rowan E. Cassidy! I want to pet the glammy dragony cover! Denis, your reviews impress on me how much my education missed. Thanks for review 🥰❤🔥🐉
I would say Franz Bardon & Josephine McCarthy would take the spot for most important. But great video and I am excited for my copy of Hekataeon to arrive in the mail!
Yes, two magical heavyweights! Practicality that doesn't compromise detail. All these other grimoires are beautiful modules that one can plug in. This one in particular will haunt my shopping list, just when I thought I'm good for a minute with already so much to do. Surfs up indeed!
Ive got ixaxaar and 3rd red edition and love both but ixaxaar is the one which i use at work constantly, and when i look at all that cinnamon dust and blood stains i feel kind of proud and sattisfaction but this is one and only book that i treat in this way 😅
Great review! I have the Hekataeon in Spanish by Manus Sinistra, it is absolutely beautiful. I'm hoping to get the next edition in the original language.
What a fantastic review, really (accurately) captured the beauty and importance of this book. I especially LOVE this edition too! Its my favorite thus far without question. This is going to be the one for me. I just started working through it very early this morning as a matter of fact! With the benefits of having a partner too which I really think will be helpful.😊
Loved the contents; truly a wonderful piece to modern occultism. Was, however, very disappointed in this edition’s construction. Was looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Thanks for what you do 🔥
You're not the first person to mention this. I didn't find the binding terrible, just a big step down from the Ixaxaar editions that were lovely, but yes, some people have complained about significant problems with the binding. I think I got a good copy. I'm so sorry yours wasn't so great 🙇
@@FoolishFishBooks I am happy to hear that my copy may have been an outlier, then, and isn’t the status quo for the overall production; it’s still useable, certainly! Much love ❤️
For a moment I was thinking oh no it's oop but... then I found out there is now pre-order for a trade hardcover which as far as I understood will be unlimited amount of copies so enough for all who want. So I pre-ordered that one!
Pledging before knowing if it is the right thing for us is now common since what most videos ask of us in their beginnings is : "please like and subscibe, etc." although one has not even seen the entire video yet! 😂 Sorry, I digress. 😅Excellent video, as always. Thank you. Your mention of the black dogs did put me in a spot where I now have to fight with the earworm "Who Led the Dogs Out?" but I'll survive. (Sorry; algorythms again)😄
I wanted to ask because I've been given a unique to obtain either the 4th edition or the 1st, as a researcher and collector I'm conflicted as I've been told the 4th contains more content in a far superior format compared to the 1st, but traditionally the 1st is often the main target. In this situation what would you all decide to do ?
4th edition is prettier and has (a bit) more content (though it's supplementary, not essential). The first and second editions have better quality paper (definitely more appropriate for absorbing a drop of blood) and better quality binding.
@@FoolishFishBooks thank you for the reply (love the content) the abrasive user that commented prior (now deleted) convinced me to get the fourth due to the added information and better formatting. I sadly regret it a little mostly because of the paper and the fact it arrived damaged but the book is honestly amazing, it's my first time reading one of Gayle's works and honestly I can see why he is so highly regarded. Anyway thanks again for your reply I still have the chance to get the first so hopefully I can soon enough
I was fortunate enough to get one of last copies of the third edition, but couldn’t, at this time, afford to buy the same book again. It does however leave me wondering what I might have missed out on, as I know there was some supplemental material… how much am I missing? Thanks, great stuff as always! Be well, Denis.
It would be nice if authors like this realized that not everybody can afford $200 books at a moments notice and made it available in paperback also. EDIT: After thinking for a while, maybe I need to be a little more specific and less emotional. I understand publishing can be hard and expensive, but I’ve seen multiple times on foolish fish books where there were terrific, beautiful, hardcover editions, and also soft cover editions published and that’s what I’m saying.
Yes, I must say that the 1st and 2nd Ixaxaar editions are much better quality if you can get your hands on them (they occasionally pop up at a price), though the beautiful design and artwork somewhat make up for the not-so-stellar binding and quality of the 3rd and 4th editions.
@@garfieldwithissuez 4th ed. Is better than 3rd generally, but while the binding is pretty, it's not good quality (creaking glue, not quite straight etc.) compared to the exquisite binding of the 1st and 2nd editions.
This was a lovely review! I was curious if you noticed how much Medea was featured in the book? I read her name in the description online and it got me curious. Do you know any other books that feature her?
Is the grave dirt and the skulls obfuscation? They seem hard to get for something that's supposed to be accessible. I was kinda surprised by it, the only other place I've seen it so far was Liber Falxifer, and that book was very "edgy"
@@FoolishFishBooks oh ok thank you so much for the clarification! I read a little far ahead and got caught off guard. I've gone back in order and started a journal with notes on all the initiatory steps and copying down the corresponding recommended texts. So I've only read the bits of PGM recommended by the book so far, but it's beautiful, I have the Betz translation in my cart. In reading other peoples' experiences substitutions beyond the pomegranate juice seem common. Thank so much for replying, too. I love your content!
It looks like the construction of the book has the worst reviews on the website. Not something I would like to read when the book is a rather "high end" publishing.
Yes, they definitely skimped on the quality of the binding. But it's not like it's absolutely awful, just a definite step down from what many occultists are used to at that kind of price point.

The video doesn't show the true size of the book. It's massive. 496 semi-gloss pages, 8"x10".
Gone by the time I was ready for Hekate... patiently awaiting the 5th edition.
They’re available now! Just in case you haven’t checked back recently 😊

Why do they publish like this? Everyone has to scramble and rush to buy a 200 dollar book.
