When I started working for my Dads company and was learning to drive, he still had one of these Smiley face (as they were known in the U.K.) Transits - I used to practice in it before I passed my test and then was straight away driving it long distance 🤣. It was on a ‘W’ plate so one of the very last for this model. Agreed about being bulletproof- the rust will kill the bodywork long before the mechanicals are ready to give up.

Yes I thought that.i have two mk3 twin wheels and it doesn’t matter how long they sit they always start instantly even after years.the diesel obviously ran back on this one a bit.these are what the rats and cockroaches will be driving about in after they drop the bomb lol

3:26 our 94 Transits engine used to shake like that to when it started, constant good memories of 10 year old me holding the jump leads onto the battery from my dad's alfa trying to jump start the van and watching the whole block shape, the late 00s were a simpler time... Maybe not for the economy but hey, I'm entitled to my thoughts😂

In Korea, there are many small roads, so it is rare to find a van of the size of Transit, but sometimes automakers make such a sturdy vehicle as an old VW Beet. Nice cars!
That inspires me to keep my Volvo 2004. This video prooves that vehicle's Can last and just need some TLC done to it now and then. Maybe some dw40 could take care of the rust. It should be more about what it could rather than what it's worth I think
I don't know what these Transits are made from, but we have a 95 model 2.5TD. It sits for about 10 years in our garage. Starts every year like it's a new car. Absolutely unbelievable.
Hey man watched a phew of your videos recently and i wanted to suggest to clean the wheel wells while power washing. It improves the look of the car when it is clean and helps prevent corossion.
my fav transit has to be the 1990-2000 just because the front looks cool and my dad owned a transit and a mondeo of the same year and the keys somehow worked with each other
I have transit 1999 2.5. i found it with 250k km good condition, i make it like new and everyone ask me why i spent money on this van.. this vans is dogs if you care them normal you dont have to afraid for problems

Got a real soft spot for the smiley transit. Prob from growing up with them everywhere. Nearly bought a swb high top camper a few weeks ago. Body was actually mint but hadn't been used in years so scared me off a bit. Ended up with a maxus instead as was a deal I couldn't pass.
In Romania you can still see many of these old Transits. They are pretty reliable and cheap to repair!
