The USA will separate into 2 or 3 countries before they will meet in the middle.
If that doesnt happen, i predict the complete colaspe of the democratic party after the 2024 election. This is on top of the beat down they will receive this november.
The democratic party will be neutered. If, IF, somehow, the democrats win this november, than i revert to my first statement.
A civil war will ensue and the complete collaspe of fiat currency.
Crypto will be more useless than ever before.

100%, the interviewer himself is part of the polarization problem. The interviewer likes to say "facts" when the media spent a whole year calling the lab leak a conspiracy, only for them to reverse their stance later. The media blatantly lies and gets upset when ppl lose trust in them. You can't lie to ppl and expect them to still trust you.

This would have been one of the most insightful and enlightening video I have ever come across on RUclips. Mr Dalio is looking at the overall picture for the world, but mainly America and China.
His views on US's political scene is exactly what I had been thinking...An increasingly polarizing and diverging camps. America claims to be the best democracy of the world, but it is now becoming a free-for-all battle ground. Free speech enabled mindless people to say, you guess it, stupid things, and they are protected by law !
Out of this long interview, Mr. Dalio's opinions on China-US relationship interests me the most. Near the end of this interview, he mentioned the truth which I have often expressed...America shouldn't spend so much time criticizing and worrying about a rising China. The most practical thing and sensible thing for America to do is to concentrate on it sown internal affairs. I have expressed on RUclips my take on US/China race. I compare it to a marathon race. Two serious contenders for the title are doing their best to take it off the hand of the other. Coaches often tell their charges that "You concentrate on what you have done in your training. You don't worry about what the other guys are doing."
America is finding itself being left behind further and further. It panicked. But its problems are deep down. These problems were allowed to fester for the decades while it still believed that it is the best and the #1 of all times. it got ambitious and went to wars, many of them in fact. None of them worth writing home about. While fighting all these losing wars, its own affairs back home are getting less and less attention. America might be the greatest, but honestly it couldn't successfully prosecute wars and economy at the same time.
A declining America finds itself in trouble back home. So what did it do? It looks for someone to bitch and moan about, and China is the perfect punching bag for US. The bitching, moaning ans smearing won't help America, but at least it helps to divert Americans' attentions from the politicians' failures.
Concentrate on your own race, America. You have more problems back home than you care to know.

Both China and US have not done well in handling this transition period. China did not need to flex so damn hard, they could have kept quietly growing through their economy. They really kind of played their hand too early, unless there were other factors we don’t know about forcing them to act quickly. Also, ending term limits is going to make the democratic world nervous no matter what. They were doing great just chugging along. The US reaction was also pretty immature. The way they dealt with Huawei hurts everyone because they made Americans stupider by believing China was going to spy on them through their phones despite the fact that there was zero evidence and that every other smart phone in America is made in China anyway so why aren’t we worried about those? Exposure to Chinese tech would have been good for competition in the long run for the US economy because young people using Chinese tech would be inspired to develop better tech in the US. I got to play with some Huawei phones years ago while in Asia and their cameras were way better than even the current iphones. If they just steal tech, why would their stuff be better? That makes no sense.

You are right in everything you said except questioning why China had to flex so hard. China was quietly growing while US WAS fighting wars all over the world. Then after the war on terrorism, it is provoking China with Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong and Taiwan, all touching on sovereignty. If an intruder tries to enter your house several times to mess it, wouldn't you flex your muscles?

What you don't know about?.. I moved from California to China some 20 years ago and I can tell a few things people don't know about. First the US has its empire formulae to exercise hegemonic strategies on third world countries, Latin America for banana, Venezuela Brazil Indonesia for oil mines plantations. They overthrow legitimate government and install corrupted regimes. In the case of China, it was cheap labor they wanted, so Jimmy Carter pledged One China Policy in 1978. They began with applying the usual debt trap on China with World Bank loans, so China used the money to buy GE CAT Boeing Deere machines for factory infrastructures. China was very poor with 700 million under educated people so they had no choice. For 20 years they were quite corrupted too, which fits in the US playbook. Then China rebounded from 2002 when Hu became Chairman. The replaced incompetent men with capable men and started policing corruption. By 2008 Olympics some US businesses and politicians began to feel uncomfortable because China is slipping from control fast and making a lot of friends worldwide who all loved making money with China. China no longer belonged to the US. The story of Xinjiang began with oil. 1991 oil companies entered Azerbaijan for the Caspian oil fields to use money and know how to get oil. Then they discovered huge natural gas reserves in Kazakhstan and later Turkmenistan. Gas was a new thing and became a big prize in the early 2000s; in the US fracking went big time. In theory, if the US could find an excuse to call upon the UN troops in Afghanistan along for an intervention at the boarder of Xinjiang they could cut off China's access to Central Asia, then they could grab all the gas for themselves. So they played by the agency book, bribe Uighur officials to alter school textbooks, train Uighur separatists to incite unrests. 3 reported domestic terror attack in Xinjiang 2009-2014. Chinese police arrested the Uighur offenders and send them in re-education camp. The majority are not criminal cases but had thoughts poisoned, typical results of propaganda mind control. That was when some agency men came up with the idea of concentration camp. Anyhow their plan completely failed especially due to the fast growth of China's power in the last 10 years. No UN support or fighting China possible. Then they switched target to campaign for forced labor and took cotton for a consolation prize. Notice both oilmen and cotton men have their dens in Texas, evangelicals, white supremacists, gun wielding Republicans. They did pretty much similar playbook stuff to HK, Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar, Ukraine, and a bit more to Syria. Look, the majority of American businesses have little to do with the godfathers. 5000 Starbucks in China, all high end decorated company owned, has plans opening one new shop every 15 hours, Tesla just complete phase 3 of Shanghai gigafactory supplying China, Europe, and Oceana. I would bet they hate the godfathers too for disrupting their businesses, same for the major businesses of the rest of the world. As they are cornered the godfather are reacting like a caged animal. With simple technical measures China ranks at the top for freedom, human rights, even democracy whereas the US is somewhere at the bottom. I do business with European companies. They don't think Switzerland or Germany outrank China in these categories, or perhaps a tie. The Scandinavian countries rank higher because they have a leisure lifestyle. The most important issue is climate change. The world needs to be equipped with green techs that are not even invented and for now we can only pin our best hopes in China.

What Dailo's saying about the US is just a synthesis of the obvious.
He totally sidesteps the human rights issue on China. Nor does he address the quite obvious reality that the number of clients he has are so few (around 100?) yet the value of his fund so colossal, he HAS to be a 1% er. But there's no responsibility being taken for that position.
His language is odd: he doesn't finish sentences and trails off, starts another, trails off.
However his thesis is cogent and largely irrefutable. He failed to mention the reality that the Supreme Court is now packed with ultra conservatives. This is a huge threat to social cohesion. So far, the Supreme Court has not paid the piper with Trump. Rather, they endorsed the last election results. The situations before the Supreme Court and the undermining of authority and unrest will be greatly tested, for example as inflation runs more rampant people will start moving outside the law.
His assumption that the market is acting inside the law is laughable.
He ignores that China despite being so productive, has stolen a lot of IP. A LOT. He totally misses the colossal challenge and opportunity presented by the shift from the carbon economy. It gives the US and other nations a huge chance to rebuild and it must be taken. To miss this variable is a huge oversight.

  • @spiritofgoldfish

The classical role of government is to tax away economic rents and use it to lower the cost of production. This is done through subsidies for such things as public infrastructure, education, and health care, not raising the cost of living and therefore the cost of labor, as with monopolistic privatization.
The problem with economics as it is understood in America, is that there is no distinction between wealth production and wealth extraction. Production of goods and services speaks for itself, but monopolies and the banks (FIRE, finance, insurance, and real estate) extract what is called economic rent. The free market Adam Smith talked about is free FROM economic rent, not free FOR economic rent.
This is Industrial Capitalism (China) as opposed to Financial Capitalism (USA), and it is what the conflict is really all about.
American democracy is entirely theatrical with the majority having no more effect on the rentier oligarchy than the Chinese majority on the Communist Party of China.
If the US was a democracy, we would have a decent minimum wage, public health care, free education, parental leave, and gun control, to name a few, all by popular demand.

The peaceful transition of power is not the principle. It is the result of free & fair elections that have integrity upon which the citizens can rely. About 1/3 of citizens don’t believe in ballot integrity as internal controls have been eroded over decades. This is how a country moves towards civil war. I hope election integrity can be restored instead of trying to gaslight 1/3 of the citizens and dismiss their concerns.

At 28'50'' the host asked the question: how can U.S avoid the cycle of civilization...it simply shows an underlying sense of superiority, or ignorant to history. If you deem the human civilization as a linear process, and still think the U.S system represents the climax and the end of human civilization, then I think you can never accept the cyclical perspective, and so you would not be able to ask the right question to get to the true problem, and you will always find it hard to reconcile with reality.
