I catch myself thinking the same when I am under their spell ... I pray they will keep making music. I am starving for every new release like an addict it is almost painful.
Everyone seems to be criticizing these guys for playing too mainstream these days. Actually I think they found a pretty good mix between popular/mainstream elements and truly skilled playing. If they'd be playing purely Jazz or Fusion, I don't think they would be this popular as a band.
you obviously don't play a musical instrument... otherwise you would be able to appreciate the very high level these guys are playing at, even if you aren't into their style of music. :)
Incroyable ! Mille fois mieux que l'original, comme toujours avec Dirty Loops ! Vous êtes gravement doués, les gars ! La rythmique, ces accords de malades, cette musicalité … je vous adooooore, je vous adoooooooore !!!!!
1:12 That’s the most relaxed technique I’ve ever seen -he’s not waisting energy moving more muscles, only his fingers- And that slap fill with the final slide and flam c# is mindblowing!!!!!
Yeah, this always gets me with Henrik: he’s so super relaxed snd efficient whilst blowing everybody’s mind with his technique. He once mentioned that that is one of his major focuses when practicing… 🔥
***** Well done! Did you ever work on the chordprogressions in Wake me up? I do so and some of them are struggling me. Tell me if youd like to work together.
***** We would fail if we try to relate the chordprogressions to a tonal center. They move at the border to atonicality (don´t mix with atonality). It´s like like eating a dish thats extremly alienated with lots of spices, so that you hardly recognize it. Using chordprogressions like this has the goal to irritate the listeners ears, but this is something the composers of the late romantic epoque have done yet, so nothing new. However, what DL do is unique and for the listener eather mindfucking, or mindblowing ;)
***** Fmin is a chromatic pickup it happens on the weak beat and leads to F#min7 = (iii->iv), it works because of the placement but you could try putting off chords on strong beats too ya never know. Now the Bmin7 to Bbmin7 is bvii --> vi, and vi is borrowed from the C#min parallel major Cmaj. the upper structure of Bbmin is close enough to A7b5 which is the sub5 of G#. If you notice the Bb --> D --> G#, this is a reharm with delayed resolution using interpolated bII (Dmaj7 once again fits because upper structure is diatonic only bass not is "out"). THe unreharm would actually be A-->G#min7 =(bVI --> v [more apt analysis is subV/V --> v]). so their version is just a fancy way of doing subV's. In my opinion this is actually in C#maj kindof but they are always using the borrowed minor. Do you agree?
***** I just played it 4 times since I discovered this song half an hour ago.. but it'll keep counting) Meanwhile, posted it in FB and sent it to my friends )
Found the original and felt like I was being hit with a wet lettuce (purely a subjective viewpoint) but speaking in jazz/rock terms, this take was right in the zone for me. The covers and original music Dirty Loops create push the envelope of musicianship and the classified structure of composition, which many musician/composers attempt to do but not all are able to carry off. Dirty Loops simply does and like many growing fans, I want more.
that would be the main problem with jazz fans right ? :) they just can't feel music. they need to climb up there to find out that they will just fall off.
Just absolutely mindblowing! Dirty Loop's stuff contains seriously some of the most beautiful and awesome pieces of music / art I've ever listened to! Outsatanding performance!
great performance! And on a side note: I've never seen a RUclips comments-thread with such a nice tone in it! I guess great music brings out the best in people :)
I continually listen to this cover and all of their songs. I freaking LOVE the musically atypical things they do in their covers and original compositions! GAHHHHHH I LOVE DIRTY LOOPS!
Everyone that says this isn't normal or good Dirty Loops must not have listened to the gorgeous chorus chord progression. It completely surprised me, and has made this one of my favorite Dirty Loops covers.
hahaha the beginning...you guys starting off at 1+ really got me goin' over it twice :) Fat beat, really got it pumpin' like the big club hits and adding your nice harmonies really got me twisting
you made me discover what is cover, thank U. Just like some jazzmen who re-use popular songs or melodies, creating a new energy... Go on please, and wellcome in France!
Had to hear the original after this and now I can't undo that. There's just no point for having the original other than for inspiring Dirty Loops to do it the right way.
This is the Best MasterPiece of music I ever found on the internet.. Material from Stormae made in the way only TOTO with S.M.V. could manage.. Thank You very much, guys, for the unforgettable, authentic and very proffesional experience.. I hope to see You soon live in Slovakia, Bratislava (or Vienna, Prague, Budapest..) Take good care and Keep On doing the Perfect Job! K*D
Here is the chord chart (simplified) for you to play along. Plz feel free to improve: Key: Db [Chorus has Phrygian bass line with major triads] 4/4 Db... D... The cadenses with mediantic and tritone root progressions are in style of Liszt and very typical for Jonah.] C#maj7/E# F#m | C#/G# D/A# | Dmaj7 G#m7 | Cmaj7 Dmaj9/F# | C#maj7/E# F#m | Gmaj7/B F#/A# | Dmaj7 G#m7 | A G#m7 F#m7 || [Ending: Last 4 bars is just a transposition a forth above.] C#maj7/E# F#m | C#/G# D/A# | Dmaj7 G#m7 | Cmaj7 Dmaj9/F# | F#maj7/A# Bm | Cmaj7/E B/D# | Gmaj7 C#m7 | D C#m7 Bm7 || Esus E/D | Aadd9/C# ||
Dirty Loops is by far, hands down the best musical group I have heard in at least 20 years.
he like a mix with stevie wonder and micheal jackson.

That is exactly what is being criticised.
You have to be different to be noticed and they are doing it and doing it well.
you can criticize them if you're in the same talent level and expertise at your craft otherwise not listening.
I was at a tool shop yesterday and they had Michael Jackson on and it was a song I hadn't heard I thought it was dirty loops for a second.
OH MY GOSH NEVER STOP MAKING MUSIC YOU GUYS ARE PERFECTION.
WOOOW ! Very beautiful !
I legit cannot stop listening to this...... I keep coming back every day......
you obviously don't play a musical instrument... otherwise you would be able to appreciate the very high level these guys are playing at, even if you aren't into their style of music. :)
As good as the other Dirty Loops videos are - this one just blows me away. Wonderful piece of music!

i just wanna get up and run around the house when I play this. This is some of the most awesome shit I've ever heard.

one of my top favorites.
In case anyone is wondering what that unusual chord progression is:
Fm F#m G#m Bbm7 Dmaj7 G#m7 Cmaj7 C#m7
Fm F#m Bm Bbm7 Dmaj7 G#m7 A G#m F#m7
I LOVE YOU! Many thanks :D

Such a tight band! They SLAY this song, had to look up the original, which I like, but WOW.

HOW DO YOU EVEN COME UP WITH A CHORD PROGRESSION LIKE THAT!?
ERROR brain.exe ran out of processing power.
EXACTLY what I think whenever I listen to this or any of their other songs!
Jazz is how - I think...
Sounds like a Classico chord progression
@@JerryT21 does it, does it really, I mean there's some sort of step progression, sure...
They fell into a pile of adderall...

I’m not really a fan of this type of music but boy, are these guys ever talented.
every passing day i love your music even more guys! thank you for that!
This sounds like a brazilian music style mixed with a very bunch of craziness. Wow! This is amazing!
Had to hear the original after this and now I can't undo that. There's just no point for having the original other than for inspiring Dirty Loops to do it the right way.
I also prefer this version over the original.

Yes it's a good one. Having a cold right now but I will do it next week. Cheers!
