    That card cam is genius! first I've seen something like that. Works way better than trying to get the camera to focus on it while holding it up.

    This is the first of this series of games that I've actually picked up and played. I know all of these tend to be really good, but most of them seem more complex than I'm interested in. So far I've only played this once by myself, two handed, and I really enjoyed it. Really excited to show this to my wife cuz I think she'll love it

      Of Garphill/Shem Phillips games, the North Sea trilogy (Shipwrights, Raiders and Explorers without expansions) are generally less complex than the West Kingdoms trilogy (Architects, Paladins and Viscounts). This Scythia game seems to sit between the two trilogies in that respect as well as chronologically.

    I really like your filming setup. Very explanatory, expecially the green screen camera one.

    Actually just played this game a couple hours ago. I've only played Raiders of the North Sea once before. This game reminded me of how much I enjoy the game.

    Just finished up the portion in Herodotus where he talks about the Scythians - so this is timely! The student was correct, but we just ignore that - Cicero is supposed to sound like Kickero, and Caesar is supposed to sound like Kaiser, as well, but most people are happy with the pronunciation they’ve know their entire lives. Cicero sounds cooler the way we say it, anyways.

      I love the fact that 'king' and 'kaiser' (but also 'kral', 'karl', and 'tzar' in Slavic languages) derive from Caesar, through the original pronunciation of the word, and later French, German, and English bastardization and amelioration mostly because of Charlemagne.

    At 41:20 the Automa takes away the Barracks for you to use, and at 41:40 you go to the Barracks. I believe this move cannot happen.

    At 21:42 he points at Assyria but he says Persia, as mentioned on the card.

    What do I do when the quest icon is shown on AI? Take any face UP quests for him? No one seems to say what happens with that first line of the AI card

    Looks like a mere copy of Raiders of the North Sea. Why did they even relesed this?

    • @CoxJul

      Similar core mechanics to RoNS, but this appears to have more depth and a better solo mode. I expect Rahdo will discuss this in final thoughts that I haven't watched yet.

    • @rahdo

      i did :)

    • @milanstevic8424
      @milanstevic8424 4 года назад +3

      Why wouldn't they? If you own RotNS that doesn't mean everybody does, but also it has a different theme, and not everybody likes Vikings equally. In the market economy, this is called a product diversification. From the business model perspective, it can be described as an additional revenue stream. A publisher/designer might also see it as an alternate edition or even as a spiritual sequel/prequel. Capitalism requires of anyone to engage in all of these practices, however redundant they might seem to you, but you have to remember you're not the sole consumer of games in this universe, and have hardly left any mark to anyone's revenues.
