Geeze Keith. I hunted for videos before I was doing my stairs. I didn't see this until I was almost finished. I actually removed the spindles with a reciprocating saw. Installed carpet. Then re-screwed them to the stair. I really had no choice but to do it myself. The store wanted $100.00 a stair to carpet them.(8 of them) I came here looking on how to cut the open end side properly. I was heart sick seeing you install it this way. I am using Berber low pile. Not sure If I could of gotten away with the way you did it. You did an excellent job. A real pro. I bow before you. PS: I just finished thanks for the tips.
hahahaha Thanks :)
Keith. Great help to me carpeting my stairs. Its a bit tougher hiding the seam between the spindles when using a really short pile carpet.
I always enjoy watching someone who is really good at doing what they do. Man you sure work fast. I can tell you've been doing that for awhile. You sir are the man.
Keep those ten fingers intact....thanks again... Tim
thanks
Thank you so much for posting this video!
Wow you just helped me out tremendously!! My hubby and I are doing this project next! Thank you!!
thats Awesome
I do the same as Rob Wood mentioned , tack strip between the spindles , I just did a 110 spindle staircase that a .n.other so called installer from a 'big box' store totally screwed up ! , nice work and video , nice to see another installer taking pride in his work.
thanks
Thanks for posting this!

Nice Job! I'm also a flooring installer, and just wanted to let you know that when I install carpet on steps with spindles, I prefer to put a double row of smoothedge between the two spindles and also between the spindle and the riser instead of pad. This way the tackless holds the seam together so you can staple it instead of using the hot melt glue. No right or wrong if the finished product looks great. Thanks for sharing!
robb wood ....yes I do this as well. Gives a more uniform look. I also find it easier to install.
You guys need to start wrapping the pad down onto the stair nosing
Can’t if they are under nose . Then you would be trying to staple through the pad
awesome thanks
Great video
Thanks 🙏
do you really have to put a tack strip down.and what did you use to use as a joiner.is that hot glue
Keith, Wow I'm glad I didn't have my carpet through the spindles! :O I just painted all the spindles... talk about the worst thing to have to paint... 28 of them! Was torcher! haha... nice carpet videos. -Shannon
Yup its hard to Paint those things :)
Great job
Thanks Andy
Nice job✌️
Thanks
Thanks guys :)
Very nice technique shannon. Its nice to see a real installer, that takes pride in his work. You gotta try the small duofast gun that hooks up to air compressor.Makes installing carpet on stairs alot easier, imho.Cheers mate 👍🏻
You need to install tackless on the sides of the stairs
I wish I had seen your video sooner. We had "professionals" do our carpet on the stair treads. There was no railing to go around like this video. But I wanted to see how you finished the edge of the carpet going down the side of the back wall of the step. I see that you folded it in and left about a 1/2 inch over hang. Our "professionals" left a straight cut down the side. It is very much unfinished looking. I am so disappointed. The installer said that he wouldn't want to fold the rug in cause he said that was unprofessional looking....grrrr so instead he left it with a raw cut and says we need to cover it with some kind of trim. Do you have any suggestions on what we should use? Our railing are a dark dark brown with glass inserts, so it only touches the rug on the top and bottom post. I thought of using the dark wood to cover it with a thin trim, but think it will look funny with little dark strips running up and down along the stair treads.
If you have extra leftover carpet they can be fixed
very professional
Wajeeh Huweih 🙏
Keith Shannon you are a master
Thanks W😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
💯💯💯💪
Thanks
That's either the sharpest carpet knife I've ever seen or the cheapest carpet...
lmao,,,, I think it was a medium Grade Carpet,,, and a really Sharp Knife
that was the strangest music video ive ever seen..
Not the greatest method on the corners. Better to roll them so the backing isnt exposed.
Thanks Ron
No no. Hot glue to pad? Cut spindle seam from face? Sell your step. A good looking spindle wrap water fall all the way.
Thanks
Great video
Thanks
