  • In this episode, we travel in our converted Ford transit campervan, with our dog, Twyla, to Echuca, Victoria, and Moama, NSW.
It’s great to see Australian tourism picking up with many people traveling around Australia in caravans, campervans, RVs, and camping in tents. If you enjoy traveling within Australia too, make sure you Like & Subscribe to our channel. Thanks for watching!
Places we travel, stayed, and visited in this episode included:
    •Wills Bend, Murray River
•Tasman Holiday Parks - Merool on the Murray
    •Morrisons Winery and Restaurant
    •Echuca, Victoria
    •Moama, NSW
    •Moama Market
    •Port of Echuca
    •Beechworth Bakery
    •Echuca Chocolate Company
    •Echuca Heritage Sweets Co.
    •Mad Hatter Tea Shop
    •The Foundry Arts Space
Our first night was a paid-powered site at Tasman Holiday Parks - Merool on the Murray Moama, NSW Australia. The holiday park is 2.5 hour drive from Melbourne and has Murray River frontage. Campers have easy access to swimming, fishing, boating, and other water activities. For speedy access to the river, the park boasts a private boat ramp for guests to use to get onto the Murray River quickly. There is even a marina.
On the same day we arrived, we had a wedding to attend next door, at Morrisons Winery and Restaurant.
After checking out the next morning, we visited the Echuca Moama Market. Like many markets, they had fresh produce, cakes, garden products, clothing, tools, leather goods, paintings, DVDs, homemade goods, food, and more.
After taking in the sites of Moama Market we traveled back across the border to Echuca, Victoria. We walked around the town and did a bit of shopping.
Steeped in heritage, the twin towns of Echuca and Moama are home to the world's largest fleet of operating riverboats as well as fine-dining restaurants and an array of water sports. We took in the Murray River's historic charm in Echuca, Australia's paddle steamer capital. Named after the Aboriginal word for 'meeting of the waters', the Port of Echuca was originally one of the busiest on the Murray. You can picture the bustling riverine trade routes of old as you take a river cruise aboard a paddle steamer. You can wander up the red gum walkways towards the Echuca Port and Discovery Centre to learn more about Echuca's rich history.
That night, we free-camped at Wills Bend, on the Murray River. Wills Bend campground is two free, dog-friendly campgrounds, a 20-minute drive North West of Echuca, Victoria. Both campgrounds, sandbar 1 & sandbar 2 are a good option for a weekend away bush camping with dogs in Victoria, offering easy dirt road access, and lots of space to camp in open woodland, and near river frontage. The facilities are basic drop toilets and best suited for people who can live without a shower and can bring their own drinking water and cooking gear. That night we cooked we had a campfire, cooked some Maryland chicken and veg in our cast-iron camp oven, and relaxed and enjoyed our night, before retiring to bed in our campervan.
We hope you enjoy our channel. We often get asked, ‘what is vanlife?’ Van life is a lifestyle of living in a vehicle full or part-time. The names are compound words that derive from the fact that it is typically done in a van that has been modified with basic amenities, such as house batteries, solar panels, a bed platform, some form of the toilet, sink, and storage space. Some van-dwellers live this lifestyle by choice while seeking freedom, self-sufficiency, and mobility without paying for conventional stationary housing, while for others it may be one step from living on the street or in a shelter. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, an idealized version has been popularized through social media with the hashtag #vanLife. Although the term van-dwelling implies living in a van, many types of vehicles may be used for permanent, mobile living arrangements, including former public buses or school buses, campervans, recreational vehicles (RVs), travel trailers, mobile homes, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and cars.
We enjoy part-time van life, creating weekly episodes that are live at 5pm (AEST) Sundays, and sharing our experiences on our travels with our cavoodle, Twyla. In our episodes we stay at free and paid campsites, showing our tips and tricks on how to make life on the road easier and fun. Come join us on our adventures!
