Love the description “like a rain drop on its side”. Really a powerful graphic description. I thought for a moment you were going to say “ a tear drop”.
I know! I didn't even make the connection until I was editing!
To y’all’s great credit, your infectious good humor would make even a cold heart like what you do, but your reviews are REALLY, really well done. Keep ‘em coming to us down here in Texas!
Thanks for watching! That's so kind of you to say!
My friend bought me Writers Tears Copper Pot for my birthday one year, I was never a big whiskey drinker then but that bottle got me in to whiskey, and now I am knee deep in Islay whiskys, Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Kilchoman. I will always love Writers Tears for that!
Can definitely see how it would get you in the door!
I've only had the Copper Pot, but I've bought it more than twice so I do like it. I will be looking for the Cask Strength now that I've seen your review. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy it!
Writers Tears has a collaboration with Inniskillin winery which is located in Canada. That bottle is fantastic. If you girls can find a bottle of that, get it. Thank you for the review😁👍🏼
Thanks, we'll keep and eye out!
Just FYI . They did build a distillery with investment from another drinks company, unfortunately the deal went down hill and Walshes are no longer involved in the distillery, they kept the brand and continue to source their whiskey , it rumored they source the potstill from Midleton and the single malts from Bushmills but haven't found anything concrete.
Yes indeed! Midleton for sure and Bushmills is a safe bet as all of there stuff is triple distilled. And I believe that distillery became Royal Oak Distillery which now makes Buskers...not a bad line up for the price (Blend, Single Grain, Single Malt, Pot Still), but the branding is quite awful.
@@austintierney4828 correct it royal oak now , lovely looking distillery , the branding dosnt match the distillery at all , expect something higher end , I've yet to try the busker whiskeys , hear mixed reviews but I'll taste them eventually
My understanding is Amber Beverage Group currently owns Walsh Whiskey and it's still sourced as you said. But yes I caught the part in this video that Walsh distills its own, which threw me off a bit.
Ah great! We were tying to find out! All I had found was that that they did have a distillery, that's a shame they aren't involved any more. Thanks for the info!
@@TheGrailTastings happy to help , ya it's a shame , it's a beautiful distillery to , called Royal oak distillery now
I need to get my hands on some Cask Strength. I’ve always enjoyed Writer’s tears but the finish is definitely a bit light. Still super enjoyable and honestly sometimes the mood for a lighter finishing whiskey hits.
Did you ever get Cask Strength?? Is it worth getting?
@@geargirl2399 so funny enough because it’s only been a few hours but I found The Irishman Cask Strength from 2015 in a beautiful wooden box at a local store to for 150$ and purchased it. I just tried it about 30 minutes ago and it’s everything I could have hoped for. The Irishman is made by Walsh who also make Writer’s tears
Great review! I'm a big fan of the Double Oak. I think the Cognac casks add alot more depth to the whiskey. I've heard that the pot still comes from Midleton and the malt comes from Bushmills. Hard to find reliable information on the source.
I had the entry level Writers Tears and it had some nice fruit notes but rather thin at 40% and no finish. Good to hear there’s better from them.
The cask strength is definitely worth a try!
I like it. Very good test
I haven't had any Writers Tears in a couple or so years but I think it's a great introductory Irish sipper. Even though it's only 40% ABV, it's a very solid entry-level drink for those who want to delve into Irish and certainly affordable considering Irish whiskey prices are quickly rising. But I am surprised to know that they actually distill it. Because in the past, my understanding was it was distilled at an unknown distillery. But if they are in fact distilling it themselves now, I will have to revisit a bottle.
On looking into it a bit further they do have their own distillery which was built in 2016 but they also source stock from Bushmills, Cooley and Middleton. Judging by the age of the distillery this is probably still not their own stock. Nice though, and it will be interesting to try and find something distilled by them if they have released anything yet!
Nice Book and tasty tears! Love your Irish March.
Thanks so much! The wee book is lovely isn't it!
Jen: "Rachel, what is best in life?"
Rachel: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.
😂🤣😂
Us Saffirs get the whole lot( Not cask strength) at 46 percent. makes it a bit more interesting . Its a good drop. Nice review.
Thanks!
I enjoy the reviews, but as a US midwesterner I have to play them twice to catch everything you say. Your Scotch 😀 dialect is strong!
Haha that's what it is! 😂
Great review !
What about Writers Tears Red head ?
Thanks, we'll add it to the list!
First organic Irish whiskey, as far as I know, was Waterford.
Oh thanks for the info on this!
I really enjoy the standard Writer's Tears more than the Double Oak. My big issue is that Walsh is very cagey/unclear about the difference between their Irishman brand and WT. Both are blends of single malt and single pot still but the proportions between the brands are supposed to be different with WT supposedly having more pot still. But it's delicious and still one of my favorites.
It is delicious. It is just a shame there's not more info about for us geeks that want to know it all!
Damn! That cask strength costs 4x as much as the Copper Pot here! But it is available 😂.
Aw Damn!
I still have no idea what that rum had. Was it a hitch? Was it an itch? I have no idea
😂 😂
Happy St Patrick's day☘
Same to you! 🍀
Havana Club JEN!!!....get with the program girl!...rums with an H......BAHAHAHA!....joking... 😄🤣😆
You haven't heard of Bacchardi, Hel Dorado, Happleton Estates, Black Sheal, Mhyers, Black Toth, Mount Ghay, Fhour Square, The Real McChoy, Plantathion, Flor de Chana, Diplomathico, Phusser's and Pampero Exclushiva?
🤣😂
Irish whiskey unless it’s Irish Distillers, Bushmills or Dingle who knows where it came from. That will change with time, but it’s really annoying.
John Teeling's Great Northern Distillery supposedly supplies a lot of Irish whiskey throughout the country.
Love your accent but at times difficult to follow your points.... Cheers
Sorry about that, you're not the first to say it. We don't even have particularly strong accents! Maybe its not the accents that are the problem after a few drams thought!😂
