The 80s had the funnest music to dance to
"Can't keep a secret to save her life!"
CLASSIC! Love that you loved it.
You should see them doing the show now. It's Wonderful seeing them doing it old. They're like kids again.
This is totally 80s. I loved the 80s. It was so fun. Your awesome empress. Much love from KY
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for your honest reaction to my siblings and I. You got it right, we had a lot of fun shooting this video! 😊🙏
wow! thank you for commenting!!! this was fun to watch
Love these songs. They had the leg shimmy going. Lol. Woohoo
They did an episode of Unsung a couple of years ago..
Their other song, You Got it All, is probably my personal favorite ballad song from the 80s. Might not be for all, but there is just something about that song it gets me. :)
My favorite is Rock it.
Jeff K., my favorite Jets song, too. So much better than Make It Real.
@@cr16219 make it real is a good ballad you can feel the emotion in that song
"You Got it All" is also my favorite from them. Both the song and video are so sweet. I like "Make it Real" too. "Cross my broken Heart" is another good up-tempo track of theirs.
My very first concert! I was 12! I saw them again a couple years ago and got to meet them.
The one in the green ( forgot her name ) was 12 or 13 when this song came out
Oh wow‼️
I was 6 years olds old when this was a hit back in 86
Great classic hit! All siblings. Their "Cross My Broken Heart" and "You Got It All" are other hits.
I wore some of those colors. 🤣 colorful decade
Hitting that shimmy HARD!!!!!! FANTASTIC dance track. I can't really be objective because I love the 80s pop group THE JETS.
🤣🤣🤣🔥
This brings back memories of being 12 years old and writing a musical play with my classmates that we performed in front of the school. Love The Jets, they had plenty hits and was fully embraced by our community back then!!
Oooh this takes me back to Bartles and Jaymes wine coolers and Cisco in the backyard. My older Sister Lisa and her friends would get tore back on two wine coolers and my sister Lenora and I would drink the rest!!! Lol. Plus the Jets are Pacific islander and so was our Father so we related to them. BTW she was only 14 years old when she sang this!!!
I think all brown people related to the Jets. It was just good to see any people of color in the spotlight. Plus the family dynamic and they were so wholesome.
Hahaha, out here in Cali it was all about the California Coolers
@@BayAreaSon yeah I'm originally from San Francisco! We would party on our stoop! Or in the backyard. 😂
@@taintedlife2618 great point!! It was good to be recognized in all shades.
😂yall were bad
That was like their family job and work their way through college they all grew up. Careers and stuff nobody got in trouble for some really cool success story and every now and again you'll see them do a show is old people and they look really cool and they all can still do the dances.
9th grade, woodshop class, the new girl wearing a white fluffy blouse, baby blue shoes and spandex mini skirt and white stockings was singing this song as it played on the radio. When she got to the chorus, she looked me dead in the eye. Then she asked me for help on her project. I walked her to school every day after that. I have very fond memories associated with this song.
Aww what a cool story.
hahaha cute
The Jets were so wholesome. They were a family act and just did cool fun music. They were from the island of Tonga. I remember thinking they were Hawaiian at first.
Ahhh interesting ‼️
Gotta like The Jets. "Rocket 2 U" was my absolute favorite. Still love it.
This was the jam!! Loved this group as a kid.
Glad you're discovering this, them, all the musical goodness of the Jets! LOVE this song!
They danced sang and played their own music.Nothing is fake or push a button.
wow what a banger lol i need a time machine
***THE JETS TRIVIA TIME!!!*** .....pssst....can I tell ya a secret!??
...about TIME The Jets get some 'Empress Love'! ...this was a HUGE Dance Club tune Spring 1986 for the Family members; It was the 2nd tune from their self-titled LP....THIS, was when the "80's" became VERY neon-centric, and The Jets' flashy teen garb, set off the "Saved By The Bell" era, for Teens!
...."Crush..." hit ALL the demographics, funky for Blacks, lyrics for (white) Teens, snazzy Freestyle influences for the Clubs...and, although the Family members were Samoan, but everyone thought they were Latino, so THAT helped....
- ...the tune hit #3 Pop, among some VERY strong 80's competition...take a peek, June 1986....
10. Nothin' At All - Heart
9. Who's Johnny? - El DeBarge
8. Holding Back The Years - Simply Red
7. A Different Corner - George Michael
6. No One Is To Blame - Howard Jones
5. I Can't Wait - Nu Shooz
4. Live To Tell - Madonna
3. ***Crush On You*** - The Jets
2. There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry) - Billy Ocean
1. On My Own - Patti LaBelle & Michael McDonald
Wow that is an 80stastic top 10 list! Thanks again for the trivia facts!!!
@@royg9080 ...It was a WONDERFUL time; many great tunes were POURING out....POUR-ING! ...still remember it....
ooo i've heard 5 of this top 5
THEY PARENTS FROM TONGA SOMOA
Great melody 🔥
Love it! 80s 🧀!!
SO 80S
This song was so popular back in the day and I still really like this song and video!
Those were real teenagers, the lead singer was 13 or 14 years old, it’s been so many decades I forget. Ooh and they were an ALL family band.
They are siblings, and the two lead singers are 12 and 13 years old. They are all very talented and can play a lot of different instruments. Talented family. The lead singer in green, sings majority of their songs, but they can all sing!!!
Never forget the girls in my school doing the dance. Crush of course
I used to looooove the Jets! ❤️🔥
The jets are siblings from Tonga Ru
THE BEAT KINDA SOUND LIKE SUGAR WALLS
Do Make it real. It’s 🔥
Thanks for the fun reaction Empress!! 😃 The first Jets song you reacted to was "Curiosity" which was their first single if I am remembering correctly and this was their 2nd single I believe but I’m sure the other Empressionists will confirm 😊. I love that you are feeling this one and you are right about this song being just straight up good, fun, happy, youthful 80s cheese!
This maybe dance cheese BUT The Jets kids had those sweet teeny ballads You Got It All and Make It Real lol
@@rpdbu8250 those were definitely some great quintessential 80s ballads! 😃
@@rpdbu8250 "You Got It All" = great song! 😃
yaaas!!
This takes me back to baby dance classes. I was too young to really understand what a crush was, but it sounded like something I wanted...🤣 oh the follies of youth.
🤣🤣
The Jets gave Five Star a run for their money at one point lol. But they're a great family group and they did some solid albums.
I like the Jets , but calm down . Five Starr had All Fall Down
Are You Man Enough
I Can't Wait
Love Take Over
Etc !!! On my momma plz knock it off ?!
@@jemalrankin5494 five star was more like the jacksons and the jets was more like debarge
The Jets is one of my favorites from the 80’s, and I wasn’t kid or a teen, I was mid 20’s when this was released, but the video and the band embodies so much about being young in the fun 80’s, the synths, the dances, the bright colored “ mall” clothes, the hair, just so much fun cool style! And the lyrics about crushing on someone in secret, might be someone at school, at work, or someone you see at the “ mall” all time, since we spent a lot a time there hanging out. So blessed to be young and experience the 80’s, it was a blast!
Oh, you must do You Got It All next(music video!) , it is also my favorite song from the 80’s, I play it everyday and watch the video too!
I've learned my lesson to never tell anyone about my crush especially to their acquaintances or friends. They eventually find out.
React to their songs You Got It All, Make it Real, Private Number and Rocket 2 U please.
Please resct to Make It Real" by Jets.
Like A Virgin Tour vibes! They was inspired lol.
🤣yup
They had several hit songs. They are Samoan.
They had a few very memorable hits, Crush on You is definitely one of them. Sadly The Jets got screwed by their manager. They only got a fraction of all the money they made. They also had to face creative difficulties with their record company. They wanted The Jets to incorporate hip-hop elements into their third album. After a long battle the album was finally released, and it bombed. The Jets disbanded after that.
I hate hip hop, it ruined the late 80d.
The jets got some good songs
I don't understand how a person can grow up and their parents don't listen to old school cleaning house. My kids know these songs. I knew songs from my grandma child hood. I'm so confused on how this song has not been heard of
Everybody loved this tune!
Their best song by far! 😎
I'm loving the 80s cheese fest. Lol
Open your mouth when you talk empress. 😆 🤣 😂
I do love the lyrics - if you think about it, you could re-do the song with the same lyrics and not miss the meaning.
This band was bad as a mother mother let me tell you something this song was fire and they are Is super super talented
SOOOOOOOO 800000000
Right!!
The singers are young/barely teenagers, they had a lot of hits in 80s
🧀🧀❤️❤️
🤣💯
I'm getting "New Jack" vibes from the song and the presentation. Nice pastel accents on all their baggy clothes. Thin ties, bandana wraps, and questionable perms on the guys. Very eighties, more East Coast than West Coast. Menudo meets Madonna with a dash of Prince to spice up that cheese. Pop songs about crushes were not in my focus in 1986. I might have heard the song playing on the radio somewhere. It's catchy, like Sheila E. The way the video presents the song is remarkable because it was over a decade before shows like American Idol etc. choreographed numbers for television that way, almost like a wrestling match, with that stage and the various risers. Did Paula Abdul have a hand it it? I wonder.
