Lionel Richie was the top man, and with the Commodores backing him 110%, this brings back a time of a 16 yr old girl, alone, scared, and pregnant. The father was the same age, and refused to admit he was the father. I sat in my mom and dad's car and I'd listen to all of this magical music just coming out over the radio. That little boy is now my 45 yr old son. No regrets!!!

Yes Sir!!! I'm sure your Parents heard of this Song and the Commodores, any one especially in the black community that was alive during this time when this song came out knows all about Lionel Richie and the Commodores!! I must say being born in the mid 60's coming of age in the 70's and 80's, I had the experience of a lifetime to enjoy all those old school classics and Dicso in real time!!

The Commodores were a great funk & soul group. Their most successful period was in the late 70's to early 80's when Lionel Richie was the co-lead singer. The band's biggest hits are "Easy", "Three Times A Lady", "Just To Be Close To You", "Still", "Oh No", "Sail On", "Nightshift", "Brick House", "Fancy Dancer", "Lady (You Bring Me Up)", "Too Hot ta Trot" etc. Lionel Ritchie went on to have a big solo career after.

And don't forget their great instrumental: "Machine Gun". (Influenced by Billy Preston's "Outa Space").

Well Well Well....Ahhh Ahhhh a lil of Lionel Richie's Alabama soulful roots coming through. Always loved this song. The Commodores & Lioniel Ritchie cranked out some of the best songs including this one to listen & react to. They have many accolades & awards. He went solo in 1982. He's a 5th season American Idol judge so knows his music.

This is Motown music at its finest! I live in a suburb outside Detroit. The Commodities were pretty big here. This song came out the year before I graduated high school. Its not so far back, or maybe I just came far forward. After all, I'm listening to you! LOL!

I loved the Commordores and Lionel Richey. My favorite song (which is hard to pick) is "Sail On." This is also an excellent song. They were huge in the 70's and 80's, we had so many great bands and awesome music, there will never be another time like the 70's.

The Commodores are one of the greatest groups ever. I love their music and it is as enjoyable today as it was when I first heard it back in the 70's, and their songs have really stood the test of time. Your Pops has been suggesting some great music! Their lyrics are so powerful. I hope you continue to explore this kind of great music. Wish you all the best on your channel, keep working it like you have been and I think you really are going to see your numbers keep going up. You have a really nice way about how you react to the songs and you are a lot of fun to watch!

Little known fact….the reason the vocals were so tight is because Lionel Richie did all the background vocals himself as well as the lead vocals. He did the same thing on another big hit of theirs entitled “Sail On”.

Multitalented 💜 Lionel Richie 💜 I first met him with Commodores July 1971, opening band for Jackson Five at MSG in NYC.He's 2st man I ever kissed... I'd win radio contest, front row tickets, backstage passes, limo rides, hotel, meals..Impressed with Lionel such a great quirky guy!! 💕 Still his big fan in 2024, he turned 75 this year!!! Singer, songwriter, humanitarian, lover, mentor on American Idol. Lost my Lionel collection with 2022 Hurrucane Ian so would Love to Meet him backstage again, get his autograph and then some more. ..He STILL has SOLD OUT concerts, so wish I could afford. on retirement..Still big fan in 2024. Still love funk music of the 70s 80s..Romanticist, Lionel Richie the great entertainer!! 💜😂❤Saw him backstage for many many years...if you are in FL, will go with you..

Shame this song and their earlier music didn't get more play. That's when they were great. Then get commercialized and lose their real heart. This is one of the best songs back in the day.

Mr. Greg, sir, the Commordores and Earth, Wind & Fire. Them bruthas use to go at it. I was l blessed to be apart of this music daily as a child and teenager then adult. Bruh you need to check Jesus is Love. I don't have much ta say about today's music. This is what real music 🎶 was. Again really glad I grew up when these brothers were in their prime.
