Remember there's only a 50% chance any particular chromosome will get passed on each generation. It doesn't take long to lose any trace of most of the ancestry. The 1% Spanish is less than a chromosome - but 99% of DNA is generically "human" so there could be variations that make up less than 2% of the "variable" DNA which typically occur in one region more than others.
Cool results! From what I know, my family comes from The UK (mostly England and Wales), Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, and possibly a bit of Norwegian. But I plan on doing one of these tests sometime soon.

@@khadijaaah._5315 Creole, but there’s so many sub languages in Creole like there are in the ethnicity. You have to be a descendant of a colonizer to be Creole. You could be half Spanish half Filipino and be Creole. Or half Russian half Inuit to be Kryeol.
Colombian, Venezuelan and Spanish I bet all go together. In other words, the spanish blood came over with the slave trade, the spanish wasted no time intermixing with the Native Americans and Africans, also Jamaica was a Spanish Colony as well. Greetings. Thanks for sharing your results I am part of the African Diaspora (Canadian born to Jamaican parents) and I have mixed ancestry. I have found some distant African cousin matches and based on their surname, they are from Nigeria, Benin, and Mali! Regarding my European side, I have discovered I have Iberian ancestry (both Portuguese and Spanish) which I surmise is via my unknown paternal great-grandmother whom I suspect was Puerto Rican of Portuguese and Spanish ancestry. I have found 3rd cousin and more distant Portuguese and Puerto Rican cousin matches. Almost all my Portuguese matches on AncestryDNA have ancestors from Azores Portugal and on other sites I have found some living in Spain. Medicman Dan Greetings again! Prior to ordering the AncestryDNA kit in November 2017, I already knew of my Sicilian ancestry. At first, I was confused when my mom told me about her great-grandfather as I never heard of Sicilian or Italian people in Jamaica in the late 1800s. My grandfather’s grandfather helped out financially and he identified himself as Italian. I have found a couple of Sicilian matches and it appears he is from Palermo, Sicily. I was there and other parts of Italy in 2018! And of course, I knew of British ancestry; however, I was completely shocked at all the relatively close Portuguese and Puerto Rican 3rd cousin matches and all their close family members. For instance, there is one Puerto Rican family where I match the niece, uncle, first cousin once removed, and so on! I just had no clue and the Iberian ancestry is all from my dad’s side as none of these Iberian matches match my mother (she also did the test). My dad has no information on his paternal grandparents as my grandfather’s parents died when my grandfather was a boy. This branch is completely unknown. My grandfather was basically an orphan. I can only surmise that this is the line (my grandfather’s mother was of Iberian ancestry) based on talking to a paternal aunt. I also began to study closer my matches and contact them. My Portuguese matches have been nice and voluntarily emailed me pictures of their family! Also, based on the new update on AncestryDNA, they reduced my mom’s NorthWestern European DNA and added “Germanic Europe.” On MyHeritage.com website, I have found German matches to my mom living in Germany! I read that Germans came to Jamaica post-slavery in the 1860-1870’s I think. I didn’t inherit any of this DNA. I am hoping for my brother to do the test in the near future! By the way, I would love to visit Portugal and Spain in the near future.

You have to know names of ancestors to be able to research them! Then I discovered FamilySearch.org. They have worldwide records. Also, regarding DNA cousin matches; you really need to contact them. All genetic genealogists have argued that cousin matches are accurate and if you want to learn about your ancestors you should be studying your matches and learn about their ancestors and in turn you will learn about yours. Nearly all my Portuguese matches have ancestors from Azores and I know this because I have contacted them and studied their genealogical trees. And yes, I have to visit Portugal and Spain in the near future! With regard to my British Isles matches many are from Cornwall. There is also a UK site which holds many records including the distasteful reality of slave records. It is so overwhelming with millions of records. Oh by the way, I contacted one of my mom’s relatively close match from New Zealand (she is of British Isles descent) and she told me about the gold rush in Nicaragua in the 1860/1870s and her great-grandfather’s brother was there. She believes her great-grand uncle is likely my ancestor. I never even knew about the gold rush in Nicaragua. Furthermore, Tracing African Roots is a great site to get some guidance on how to properly interpret your DNA results with regard to your African roots. I visit that site a few times a month.

You are 7% from India but your dad is 21%, that's interesting, but I found out DNA tests are not 100% accurate, I found out that's why they call it ethnicity estimate. You could be a higher percentage of Indian you'll never know lol maybe like 12% 🤷🏽♂️

Check out the history of Irish women in Jamaica and the Caribbean at large. I wouldn't be surprised if that is where some of your northern European ancestry comes from. And I had a 2nd cousin who had 26 children. It isn't uncommon.
Yes the Irish have a history in the Carribean. Oliver Cromwell invaded Ireland in the 1620s and brought thousands of them to the Carribean as indentured servants

At 67 last March 2020 I discovered I have identical twin brothers who are 4 years younger than me that my mother and stepfather never told me about. We share a mother. They were given up. My mom and stepdad were married, had good paying jobs . My mom was 32 when she had them. My brothers were told that their birth mother was a 15 yr old girl.. Nope. I have shared info about their parents. This discovery has been wonderful for us. We have all fallen in love with each other. There are so many things we have in common too. To look at our high school pictures you would think we were triplets. We look so very much alike and have so many same interests too. My son.. now 40. Is 6'3. They are both 6'3". My son and my mother is left handed, both my brothers are left handed. They are identical do to tell them apart, one has a beard, the other doesn't. Lolol. I love their wives and kids and grandkids too. It's been an amazing year for all of us. We are truly thankful for Ancestry to bringing us together.
Can you make a new video of your updated results? AncestryDNA has just updated everyone's ethnicity estimates on September 9th They have added more samples and new regions. For example Cameroon, Congo and Southern Bantu People's is now Cameroon, Congo and Western Bantu People's Southern Bantu People's is now its own region England, Wales and Northwestern Europe is now England and Northwestern Europe. Wales is now it's own region, and Ireland and Scotland is now separated as well. They can now tell if your from Wales, Ireland, or Scotland. Italy is now Northern Italy and Southern Italy Check them out I will also like to see your wife's results.
my 3 three big numbers are Norwegian Scandinavian German and about 20 30% British. Only have one living cousins in the UK rest are in Germany us & Denmark.
Everybody is related! Distantly! This is the brilliance of our DNA and the Spirit who created it! As two people move further and further away from the common ancestor their DNA signature splits and splits until it’s under 7cM meaning a very distant to no relation! There is no way they can say our Y DNA and mtDNA comes from the same man and the same woman and we aren’t all distantly related! They only count relations above 7cM and I personally feel it’s so people won’t freak out! 😅
He's got about 31% Caucasian anscetry as 7% S Asian is Caucasian, most black Jamaicans like most black Americans have 10-20% British dna on area, his is higher
I am quite fustrated with how ancestry has grouped African descendants into Nigeria. One must understand that there are up 100 ethnic groups in Nigeria and it is vast differences. For example Koreans,Chinese, Japanese are all Asians but different ethnicity. Black people must understand this and although ancestry.com is not bound to tell people this. It would be information one should have before getting their feelings hurt embracing people who although from there may just not be your ethnicity. In some of these countries there has been ethnic genocidal wars and ethnic cleansing.
I am sure that as time goes by they will be more effectively be able to make those distinctions. The more people who join will provide more information. This service is so nifty. Try 23 and Me as well. It tends to be more comprehensive and detailed.
@@kathleenclark5877 Correct, But still there is that vast distinction between African ethnic groups. My mother is more Yoruba and my fathers side of the family and both sides grand parents were Mandi. I look more hausa and favored by hause Africans. And believe me when they look at you they know.
1% Norwegian is such a small amount and these tests aren't that accurate. I wouldn't count on anything under 5% being accurate. I was supposedly 11% Swedish now I am supposedly less than 2%. They do updates and things change.
I haven’t seen them use niece, aunt, uncle, nephew in the connections - so a cousin could be any one of those. I also haven’t seen Half-sibling either, my half-brother and sister showed as close relative.
So I'm curious...skin color aside...What percentage of African DNA makes you black and what percentage of non-African DNA makes you white? I would really like someone to give an answer to that question if anyone really knows. I know folks that "look" white and have experienced horrible treatment because they're supposedly white when in fact they have over 50% African DNA ancestry.
I think this is a really good point. To me, being Black is a matter of choice (e.g. upbringing, heritage, culture etc) & not a judgement call someone else can make. I know many people who look 'White' but are Black because they're of mixed heritage or were born in a Caribbean country, my family included.
There’s really no answer to that question. in my opinion, a full exclusively black person is someone who is predominantly African. A lot of black people who are descendants of chattel slavery have some mix in them but the majority of their blood is black.

At 67 last March 2020 I discovered I have identical twin brothers who are 4 years younger than me that my mother and stepfather never told me about. We share a mother.
They were given up. My mom and stepdad were married, had good paying jobs . My mom was 32 when she had them.
My brothers were told that their birth mother was a 15 yr old girl..
Nope. I have shared info about their parents.
This discovery has been wonderful for us. We have all fallen in love with each other.
There are so many things we have in common too.
To look at our high school pictures you would think we were triplets.
We look so very much alike and have so many same interests too.
My son.. now 40. Is 6'3. They are both 6'3". My son and my mother is left handed, both my brothers are left handed. They are identical do to tell them apart, one has a beard, the other doesn't. Lolol.
I love their wives and kids and grandkids too.

They have added more samples and new regions. For example Cameroon, Congo and Southern Bantu People's is now Cameroon, Congo and Western Bantu People's
Southern Bantu People's is now its own region
England, Wales and Northwestern Europe is now England and Northwestern Europe. Wales is now it's own region, and Ireland and Scotland is now separated as well. They can now tell if your from Wales, Ireland, or Scotland. Italy is now Northern Italy and Southern Italy Check them out I will also like to see your wife's results.

Everybody is related! Distantly! This is the brilliance of our DNA and the Spirit who created it! As two people move further and further away from the common ancestor their DNA signature splits and splits until it’s under 7cM meaning a very distant to no relation!
There is no way they can say our Y DNA and mtDNA comes from the same man and the same woman and we aren’t all distantly related! They only count relations above 7cM and I personally feel it’s so people won’t freak out! 😅

I am quite fustrated with how ancestry has grouped African descendants into Nigeria. One must understand that there are up 100 ethnic groups in Nigeria and it is vast differences. For example Koreans,Chinese, Japanese are all Asians but different ethnicity. Black people must understand this and although ancestry.com is not bound to tell people this. It would be information one should have before getting their feelings hurt embracing people who although from there may just not be your ethnicity. In some of these countries there has been ethnic genocidal wars and ethnic cleansing.
I am sure that as time goes by they will be more effectively be able to make those distinctions. The more people who join will provide more information. This service is so nifty. Try 23 and Me as well. It tends to be more comprehensive and detailed.

Correct, But still there is that vast distinction between African ethnic groups. My mother is more Yoruba and my fathers side of the family and both sides grand parents were Mandi. I look more hausa and favored by hause Africans. And believe me when they look at you they know.

So I'm curious...skin color aside...What percentage of African DNA makes you black and what percentage of non-African DNA makes you white? I would really like someone to give an answer to that question if anyone really knows. I know folks that "look" white and have experienced horrible treatment because they're supposedly white when in fact they have over 50% African DNA ancestry.
I think this is a really good point. To me, being Black is a matter of choice (e.g. upbringing, heritage, culture etc) & not a judgement call someone else can make. I know many people who look 'White' but are Black because they're of mixed heritage or were born in a Caribbean country, my family included.
There’s really no answer to that question. in my opinion, a full exclusively black person is someone who is predominantly African. A lot of black people who are descendants of chattel slavery have some mix in them but the majority of their blood is black.
