My MacBook keyboard has no keys working at all,the light for caps lock does not come on when pressed and there is no backlight although it briefly came on for a moment but the second I went to move the laptop it flickers off.the Touch Bar and laptop is in full working order. Do you think it could just be a problem with the cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard has worked it’s way loose ?as it was in a suitcase going across rocky concrete so it was vibrating in my bag
@SOSfix Electronics Good video tutorial! I have a question, is there a possibility to replace the keys above "Function, Esc, Brightness, Sound, Play, etc" by Touch bar on an old Macbook Pro from 2015 or below?
Hi great video, and thank you for posting and sharing. I am about to attempt this exact job on an A1706, so when you lifted around the locating rivets can you repress these down again or do you need the screws, from what I understand you can use the 000 Philips screws for the previous 2013-2015 model keyboard replacement, am I correct?also do you not need to remove the battery on this or the A1706 model I would appreciate any clarification you could give me on this. Thanks in advance
@@adiands850 I got everything ready, I purchased a new top case (from China) with the keyboard attached, I procrastinated so long that the laptop I was fixing (one that I purchased through insurance from water damage) ended up coming right so I didn't have to do it, so I sold on the top case, Laptop still working.
@@SOSfixElectronics and where do you get those screws from? do they come with the keyboard replacement? Also, I've seen some sites that sell the backlight separately, and that makes me ask whether a keyboard replacement comes with the backlight "by default"? thanks a lot for the contribution.
@@VictorTheSnake86 not all the keyboards came with backlight, i usually use the backlight from old keyboard. if you need extra screws get them from ebay, or u can skip some holes and use that screen for the new holes

Great video. Very helpful. I fixed mine and took 6 hours. By the way it was my first time opening a macbook.. wish you talked about every step you do.
where did you get your keyboard from? Any recommendation? I want to replace keyboard.

rivets will left a holes that the keyboard screws will fit in, i think a1706 has same battery, so no need to remove it.
@@SOSfixElectronics Thank you for the info, One last question is it best to disconnect the battery first, I think ?
@@rvrt1829 did you attempt this on your A1706 and how did it go? I am thinking of doing the same. Thanks

if the rivet left a clear hole the screw will fit in

Even worse than the Lenovo ThinkPad X240/X250/X260/X270 units and they were bad enough.
