I bought the maroon colored long bed model in 82 with a 300 6 and a 4 speed.
It still lives in 2023 as the yard truck at a construction company.
If I could buy another one just like it, I would.
It never got rusty and, aside from the cam rounding off at 235k and the baseplate on the carb coming loose a couple times, it was bulletproof until I sold it.
    20mpg most tanks.

Never been a fan of Patina, You can do a Tractor paint paint job for the same money or cheaper. You can get a gallon of tractor paint for 25-30 bucks at your local Farm & Home store plus another $15 for the Thinner and $8 the hardner. Combined that's the price of a gallon of Linseed oil..... and you still have to buy the Mineral oil. I mean if you have it just laying around then cool but if you have to buy it then Tractor paint is the cheaper way to go.

I’ve seen some decent tractor paint jobs. Not a bad option. To each their own. I had the mineral spirits. Spent about $50 on everything else. I don’t have a paint sprayer or equipment to spray it. This isn’t the solution for everybody, but it’s a good option for somebody that isn’t set up to paint one and wants to spruce up the look a tad. 👍🏻

@@jwmustangman Spray equipment doesn't cost as much as most people think, I use a Harbor Freight spray gun that I picked up for $20 10 years ago, they are $30 now, you also don't have to have a big ole fancy air compressor to spray either because your CONTINOUSLY spraying paint, your stopping alot more than you think you do so the compressor has time to catch back up, I have an 8 gallon compressor that I use that, you guessed it.... I bought at Harbor Freight als, i've got less than $75 wrapped up in my paint equipment.

That’s all well and good. And for the record, I’m well aware of how to spray, and what it takes to spray. If that’s what works for you and what you prefer, I encourage you to do it. But I did spend less on my patina stuff than you did on paint stuff, so your original claim was not the case for me. If painting works for you, that’s fine. I just wanted to offer another option. Like I said, to each their own. I respect both. Each has their own place.

@@jwmustangman Agreed, I wasn't putting it down, it's just not for me. I also don't have to paint my stuff for years either. the linseed/mineral oil only last a year or, my paint job is going to last me 10 years or more.....
