- I've been a long time admirer of the English painter, Peter Brown, aka 'Pete the Street'
Pete's something of a legendary painter in the plein air world, but as you'll see he's also humble, gracious, and funny.
Having an opportunity to paint with him (as well as have some pints and a lot of laughs) was unbelievably enjoyable, engaging, and educational.
On this day we were set up in Chinatown. We had a great time, met some good people, including another painter friend Marc, and Pete's son Toby. An amazing day.

Great work as always. Pete and Pete the street what a combo.
Thanks a lot, Samuel! I'm going to have to get Pete to start flying over from the UK regularly!
@@petesinjin9194 pay his ticket and you will have a re-Pete for sure!! ;D
Another great video, and the waiting was worth the wait.
Would really like to see you do some interviews with some of the painters you paint with. Nothing formal, and over your beers chat about painting and art.
Douglas, thank you...that's really appreciated and gives me some serious food for thought. Thanks for that!
Love this. You guys need your own reality show! Great paintings, inspiring.
Thanks so much, Patricia!
New ‘Paintin’ with Pete’ video … brilliant! Painting with Peter Brown … amazing! although it must have been unusual for him not painting in rain or sleet or snow.
Haha! Right? He was miserable every time the sun came out!
Great stuff, my friend!! You and your namesake both swing a pretty mean paintbrush in my humble opinion!! That you and he both wrestle with the "Big I" means it's ok if the rest of us sometimes do too. Remind me to swing by his channel and check out his stuff sometime. He seems like a right nice bloke!!
That he is...an absolutely great person. And I appreciate the comment. That is exactly the outcome I hoped for
Pete, this video is great as well as your painting! Thank you for documenting it! It is such a joy to watch and a wonderful memory
Thanks a lot, my brother! We enjoyed some very special days, huh?
@@petesinjin9194 very special indeed 🙏🏻 looking forward for more ❤️
Pete's was great, of course, but yours was a very close second. You seemed much more confident and your work showed it, imho. Always enjoy your lighthearted narrative as well. And the "i"s you mentioned are in all of us who try creating in public. (I need to get gear and get out there.) Good encouragement my friend.
Scott, I appreciate it. And I hope you get out there!
Pete, how I’ve missed you. Pete, so great to meet you here. Fantastic video! Great paintings.
That is so nice to hear. Thank you so much and I'm glad to see you too!
Thanks for another fantastic video Pete! First of all, I was blown away by the musician at the beginning, who used the banjo to re-create a Chinese musical instrument. Enjoyed watching you paint with the other Pete as well. I have seen him before on RUclips and it’s interesting to see him painting in New York with you. Love how you share your insecurities. Most artist don’t! I think we’re also insecure about our art skills that we put on this armor to protect us. I’ve struggled with this my whole life. Although, the older I get the easier, it seems to be getting. I try to be happy for others and not compare myself. During the painting process, I continually ask myself, is there any insecurity filtering through and am I allowing my own intuition and feeling to be my mainstay in my work. Can’t wait for another one of your videos. Have you thought about starting another series based purely on instruction? Would love to hear more about your own approach and have you share some of your tips and tricks. Thanks, Irwin.
Irwin, thank you. It's always a pleasure to hear from you. I am particularly happy that the talk of personal insecurities has resonated as it has. It confirms for me that allowing vulnerabilities to be known can be a great strength. I thank you also for the thoughts about future videos. I'll give that some serious thought! Thanks again, my friend
I really enjoyed this one ..
ah great, David. That makes me happy to hear! Thanks for watching!

Fantastic video Pete! I was fortunate to be able to go to an exhibition that Peter Brown was having at his house in Bath a few years ago. I could've stayed in his studio all day, so inspiring and such a down to earth fella too. Cheers Pete!
Now THAT would have been amazing! Wish I could have seen that!...he is an absolute down to earth gentleman
@@petesinjin9194 Yes, Bath is cool, named after a Roman public bath, from years ago. Visited there on a trip to England and other UK countries in 2007. Now those dudes really knew how to take a good "scrub down"!! :D
First time to see your video and have to say, it was quite enjoyable.
What a life, to be so following your dream and meeting and working with your idols. So brilliant to know he is too just like us. We are in the end all having this HUMAN experience.
Thanks for a brilliant episode. This was really inspiring.🧡✨🧡
Well this is an extremely generous and inspiring comment. I thank you so much

aw hi, Pyeng! Great to hear from both of you and I'm so happy you both enjoyed. What's next? good question!
Fun video and both paintings are great!!! Well
Done Petes.
thanks Tim!
Great episode my man! And great work as always. Bath is clean, but Sudbury is immaculate
haha...okay. Gotta tell that one to Pete! Thanks so much, my friend. Hope all is well with you and the family!
Pete, welcome back. You and your buddies had a good time, which is the reason for most of anything, really! Pete is known as "Pete on the street" or something, you could be "Pete on the avenue" or road or alley or something. Yeah, it needs a bit of work. Speaking of work, good work both of you, ..but that big ol' samuch was a true "work of art" in my humble opinion, but, hey, it's New Jerk, known for the good eats of course, right? Would go good with a pint, and that English earl would also approve of it, ...ask Pete, right Pete. ;D
Right, we all have our doubts, so, I have three boxes called "the good, the bad, and the ugly", for my painting panels. The one with "good" is usually pretty shallow, but the "ugly" one is slowly getting a bit smaller, ...cue that great old "spaghetti western" music now. : )
Cheers from AZ, where it's finally getting cool enough to get out on the street too, or wash in my case down here in the desert, right there along with the Gila Monsters, and coyotes, and fortunately, all the ratters have gone back to sleep for the winter now!! LOL ;D
ha! good to hear the rattlers are napping! thanks for watching, Ron. That good\, bad, and ugly are categories all painters can relate to, but as you say, stick around long enough and the box starts filling up a little more slowly.
Thanks for watching and good luck painting out there!
@@petesinjin9194 right, if you are ever down this way look me up, on the Tucson plein air club web page, I'll show you all my secret painting sites. In fall winter and early spring, they are sans "Mr. no shoulders"!! LOL
Two Pete’s for the price of one . Bargain!
Good one Pete’s . Would like to have seen more of the painting though and less of the chit chat . Lol
ha! well, you're right. I sometimes get a little long winded. Next time, more painting!
Subscribed. Very inspiring. Never even thought of painting on the streets. Love the energy. Thanks for sharing your art.
Well thank you so much, Marc! I really appreciate that. Thank you so much for watching!
observations on point pete.

Linda, that's so immensely appreciated. Thank you!
“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” Monsieur Van Gogh
I get what you are saying, we just have to keep powering through!
Cheers
yes, absolutely...I am a true believer in that sentiment!
Good job Pete!
thanks a lot, Matt!
I love your work! I wondered what’re you were.Do you paint cityscapes only?
Hi Patrice! Nice to be back and great to hear from you...I do a lot of cityscapes, yes...but there are periods where portraiture and still life makes its way into the mx
👍☕️🍩🍄
haha! Thank you!
