I love these! Placing them on a hinged surface (cardboard box flap) let’s you change sound so dramatically by just experimenting with how open/closed that flap is. Smooth analogue range on (ironically) a high-end/higher-cost speaker’s box! Lol! “Hmm... maybe the cardboard it comes in makes better sound than the the speaker?” If you have an exciter, find a sheet metal pole-barn! I used a tiny “Vibe-it” to turn my buddy’s *big* metal barn into a crisp speaker for a party. You’ll have a lot of fun testing these out in the country. Cheers to good times!
This is an extremely useful video for me, because i plan to use the very same set of exciters stuck on to the foam insulation (XPS) boards, as a set of speakers for my living room, driven by the very same Yamaha Home Cinema Amplifier. Very glad i stumbled upon it.
@@qua7771 Well to be honest, those XPS panels sounded horribly. Tinny, and hollow. I suppose the foams used here are not the same (density and rigidity-wise) as the ones i have used, though i must say: visually they do really look similar. I don't recommend the XPS panels for the exciters.
@@qua7771 Good luck, my man. For the moment, the whole project is on hold for me, but i plan to continue with it as soon as i go on my vacation. Please post the results on what was the best material for you. Thank you in advance.
honestly a good use i would see for these is not playing music at home, but commercial use would be great in a small store to make for virtually invisible speakers for publicity, talking or low volume music, you could throw them under desks and whatnot to male the place really clean
I build custom large scale RC cars and I’ve done a few with wireless stereo systems in them.. my latest one is a compact Bluetooth speaker crammed into an intercooler for my 1/7 scale Skyline build! It also plays car engine sounds apart from music.. I’m currently building a custom Bugati Bolide and I was considering using an exciter that I would mount directly to the underside of the lexan body! That way the sound is Omni directional and possibly louder than a regular speaker enclosure. What are your thoughts on that?
..I’m also going to be buying an AXIAL SCX6 RC Jeep crawler soon! It’s HUGE as it’s a 1:5 scale!! With all that available space, I’m definitely going to build something cool with that! So I just stumbled across a “TRANSDUCER” square speaker,.. I never seen something with that name but it’s a regular speaker, so how come it’s called a “TRANSDUCER”??
How would it sound on a helmet motorcycle/football? Could it still be appreciated on like a brain bucket motorcycle helmet like the one with no face shield?
Mount them properly onto a wooden panel, and you'll get proper quality sound. Metal is no good, and you wont get proper sound by just holding it like so. There is a project video here on youtube, where a guy is comparing different materials for these exciters, I think oak and plywood had the best audio. And I think he went on to do a exhibition in Canada with spilled materials from a sawmill, that he mounted these exciters on to..and created a orchestra. Pretty cool stuff..
I am thinking of exciters with sonotubes. Decide your Skin/ reed on the top( either a drum skin, tuned and tighened, or something else. The tube vibrates to create sound. But also the note created at the top of the tube, if long enough, accentuates instead of canceling low end bass notes. I believe the tubes could ring like tuned bells if set up right. My last set of speakers were conventional in respect to drivers. The box however was a folded horn transmission line.Imagine a saxaphone. You can even put the reed pipe(say 6' in) then put an 8-10' on the outside to create the proper bass tube lenth. tuned like a pipe organ.
No, it's positive and negative, just one channel. To do it "right" you need another exciter for the other channel. They're only $10 a piece, though, so that's do-able!

"What color would you like?" All the same to me, I'll be leaving the plastic on.
I want to use this on my ceiling for noisy neighbors. Looks like an amp is necessary eh?

@@themorawaboy Thank you. People in forums seem to have gotten better results using plywood and foam board. I'm considering expanded PVC board.

@@themorawaboy I will.
when you press that unit on stuff like that you negate all the movement it can make. it needs to be stuck to something with it's ring.
I think he already knows, hes only demonstrating the possibilities...
Did you ever put it on your cabinets? Kind of want to try to mount them to the underside and see if they work well for kitchen speakers.
Hey there. You should peel the blue film off your nice stainless microwave. Its just their to protect the finish until you get it home.
How's the sound quality if you put it on the top of an acoustic guitar, or on the bridge of a violin?
Would this work on a rather large belly? Asking for a friend.
Might be old… but ever 4yrs. from post.. STILL a GREAT Receiver ! 👍
great video thanks. Ok, so how would I know which is the Positive pole of the speaker to connect it to the Tip of the guitar cable ...?
Does the exciter come with the speaker wires already soldered or do they need to be soldered?
How loud do these get? Im looking at using these on pink rigid foam for a Halloween display? Thoughts on that?

Halloween: play scary noises directly onto someone’s wall.
Hello, what if we put it on our skin? Will it sound or not? Thanks
not
Dayton does have a bone conduction transducer.
@@michaeldouglasroberts2421 Thanks
you probably have that on an 8ohm terminal? making it vibrate and will fry your receiver, since it's a 4ohm exciter.
Is this basically a speaker but without the cone???
ok, 3 weeks later. yes it is...after a bit of homework x
Who asked ?

Yeah, I'd like a link to that too. I can't find it on youtube. I think I've watched every video on the subject.
your dynamic range is going to get worse if you have them at max output. It's better to have more of these rather than one for a room.

What gauge of speaker wires are those?
With how thin they are I'd imagine 16 gauge. Tbf though, the speaker is only receiving 25W RMS, so that should be plenty.
The song bro... Fumofu just hits different
I wonder how they would sound in an arcade cabinet
don' t push down on it. It needs to be able to vibrate to work best.
Put it on that beach ball!
Put it on the floor!
Put it on that book shelf!
That's what I was saying while I was watching this. 😀
name of the song /track that begins at 1:13 please!

Could you use as a mic and attach to a window and listen? Like make the glass the mic pickup.
Well I think yes, it's just a digitized “ear to the wall”
Hei man have you connect the exciter one side to the Right output and other side to Left output right?

any recommendation on portable ampliflier for it?
What is that piano piece?

These are quite fun the play with lol
What happens when you stick it to your face?
Dayton actually sells a "Bone Conducting Exciter" which creates sound by vibrating the bones of your skull. Very wild stuff.
What’s the best reusable adhesive for these guys?
Maybe three screws
Does anyone know the second song?
