@gothatway09 I was born in 1998 and to be honest the Nirvana album cover was the only reference I got. I guess because there's so much information accessible now and things become famous so fast and stop being popular so fast now due to the amount of pop culture accessible, people care less and remember less.
@gothatway09 I agree, these were more obscure samples and she seemed more clueless than the normal border millennial/Gen Z would be. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about the 70s, 80s, and 90s just from my parents music and films and through school. I even took a US pop culture module in history at university. I just didn't recognise most of these, probably doesn't help that I'm not American.
@gothatway09 I don't think Karen is a good representation of her generation. She seems to know less than all the young millennials I've met. That or this segment is fake.
@Jess Hanks But is that her fault? I think it's up to to the aunts and uncles of the world to expose the kids to this stuff. They can't expose themselves--they don't even know what they're looking for! And parents are too busy parenting (although the onus IS on us, also). Aunts and uncles, I call on you
@Jess Hanks That's so cool that you have niblings and about your aunt influencing you! I feel like I've exposed my kids to a LOT of great music and other media, but some things have fallen through the cracks, and my brother and sister have helped. 8 is a great age to enrich their minds because when they're teens they might be less open to your influence, but you'll have already shaped their taste toward quality. At some point they might start exposing YOU to good music THEY find! If I were an aunt I think I'd buy my niblings a CD player when they're young and everytime they have a birthday or Christmas get them a new album and maybe a t-shirt or something. Help prevent them from becoming those kids who wear band t-shirts they know nothing about. (I know CDs are old school but I think it'd be fun.) I've really been thinking about what you said about kids needing to expose themselves to art, music, etc. I'm just starting to send my kids out into the world and instead of feeling guilty about the things I DIDN'T share with them, I'm going to teach them that it is ON THEM and on all of us, like you said. So thanks for that! :-)

@@willemakit I remember when there was a premium if you unlocked a special pet on your Tamagotchi. My friend had one and it turned out all weird looking because we basically had a nocturnal sleeping schedule and the feeding/bed times were all messed up.
@@ryanshannon7703 no I don't, I was terrible with my tamagotchi. Mine died over and over. Definitely made me a better father though. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Seth was literally like, "NEVERMIND!!" when he put that baby-dollar picture away. wkwkwkw
I need an hour of this segment, someone make it happen because I need to know if Seth knows about Club Penguin
Or runescape
or webkinz !!
Club Penguin and Webkinz are way more Gen Z territory
"What Does Karen Know?" is the new hit segment! 🤣👏👏👏👏
Ask a millennial thats 37 yrs old. They’ll probably get them all right
Jacob Hwang I’m 27 and got all but the first one. MOST millennials should know most, if not all, of those images. I’m surprised she missed so many.
@@whitneymouse Aaaaand she's a professional comedy writer. *sigh*
I’m 38 and I didn’t know any of Karen’s images LOL
Indeed. I'm 37 and I got em all. Some millennials are old.
Wait, what's the cut off year that makes you a millennial? I'm 38 and I thought I didn't fall into that category lol
Shes accomplished so much at 24! A writer for the show?! Oooh👏👏👏 😡
@M Piper unlike zuckerberg, karen also graduated from harvard!
@M Piper Oh ffs really you compare everyone to a multi billiotriollionaire ?
I know right I'm 25 and now I feel like I'm 50. Super happy for her though for sure
@bigpimpdaddy69 And _that's_ what matters, not how rich one is.
That's what happens when you have rich parents.
OH MY GOD SHE'S SO CUTE
This segment with Seth Meyers and his writer Karen rocked! I loved it! Seth, please do this more often!
She seems so sweet, and she's really witty. Sweet & witty don't often go together. Very cool 💜
0:38 I literally said "woah" when that photo was held up
I'm 28 and knew all of them. I think late millennials would have a harder time with the earlier stuff... I'm right down the middle, kid in the 90s and teen in 2000s
28 and I didn't know any of it..
I knew some of them even though i didn't grow up in America so my popculture knowledge is full of holes. But as a 2000's baby im proud of the amount i know.
27 here and got all of them! The best of both decades 👍🏻
28 and got all except that popcorn guy. Think it's an American thing.
Just turned 25 and knew all but the first guy.
Cool, another new segment! And it features Karen! Looking forward to seeing it again!
This was so sweet and truly funny. I actually laughed hard enough to bring tears to my eyes. Good job producers, writers, and of course, Seth and Karen.
Karen is so precious. Bring her back always! I think I need a Seth/Amber/Karen segment now
“I feel obligated to say yes” XD I LOVE her! Also, Neopets is awesome still!
I expected Seth to ask if it was a Pokemon haha
Karen: That's nuts!
Seth: No, that's popcorn! #missedopportunity
Nirvana is the one thing out of that whole list which a young person might still connect to and it's the own thing he doesn't explain 🤦♂️
I'm 22 and was shocked that she didn't know the Nirvana one, that picture is timeless.
@gothatway09 I don't think Karen is a good representation of her generation. She seems to know less than all the young millennials I've met. That or this segment is fake.
@@tothebones it's all written and reheased
Loved this bit but dear god I’m old!! 😭
Right? I'm 52, I watched Blossom and heard "Girl You Know It's True" on the radio lol
@@ElizabethT45 same, and I'm 35

"Nothin my love can't fix for ya babayyyy"
1:58 “other people gasped” 😂😂😂. I love the innocence of her and other Millennials and I’m 35. Also elated to see 2 other related videos with her!!!
Seth: WE went outside
Karen: I've never been outside!
Lol she knows how to make fun of her own generation (and how they're perceived)
(I know CDs are old school but I think it'd be fun.)
I've really been thinking about what you said about kids needing to expose themselves to art, music, etc. I'm just starting to send my kids out into the world and instead of feeling guilty about the things I DIDN'T share with them, I'm going to teach them that it is ON THEM and on all of us, like you said. So thanks for that! :-)
I loved this!! I think this needs to be a regular segment on the show. The references you could show each other are endless!!!
Karen looks too normal to be writing for Seth.
@Diana Mitford I think that's Karen's style. Rompers and multicolored stripes are very IN atm.
She looks like the kind of accomplished young person that I don't want to immediately hate
@Diana Mitford Have you ever seen Yoko Ono?
@Diana Mitford How do you dress, Kellyanne Conway?
@@AlexCyrus she posted this comment on another reply, too. Smh
I'm 21 and I got more of those than her. But her reactions were honestly the cutest thing ever.
I was born in 1995 but I knew them all. Gotta love having a sister born in 1976 😁
Luna2013 You’re like me! I was born in ‘92 and have an older brother born in ‘72. Having older parents and/or siblings has its perks! Sadly, he passed away a week before my 9th birthday. Check on your loved ones, y’all. You never know what someone is going through. ❤️
@@aviealien Having her as my much older sister is amazing, I couldn't ask for a better sister! So sorry for you loss :(
“Are they like Pikachus?” 😂
Man!! I used to love “ baby do you wanna dollar” great tv! Until that tragic episode that ended the series!! Heart breaking !
Ah yes, the episode that the baby actually got the dollar! Damn baby
"He looks like Bill Nye, but eww..." my thoughts, exactly.
I’m 22 and I knew most of those. I only didn’t recognize the 1st one. Not recognizing the Nirvana baby is just mind blowing to me.
Miro DeLuca I’m the same age, but I only knew the fax machine. Some people just don’t care for pop culture.
@@4ever4given01 I am the same but I only knew nirvana and the fax machine
Karen: Yeah, that’s nuts.
NO KAREN THAT’S SEEDS
OR KERNELS
YOU’RE A WRITER GOSH DARN IT
JK you’re adorable
This is too corny for me.
Seth did this in such a sweet and respectful way... I like this guy. Would like to see more of this segment ! Their interaction is so cute.
Lol, yes more of Karen! That was hilarious 🤣🤣
A baby who needs a dollar.....jesus....feeling the pain here
Consistently the BEST recurring segment of the show
Karen must be protected at all costs. She's way too pure for this world.
Travis Black /cringe
You didnt tell her the truth about the Nirvana cover shame on you sir SSSHHAAAMMMMEE
Oh wow, Karen reminded me about Neopets. I had to do some serious digging to find my old login...but I found it and am back in after a 15-year hiatus. Goodbye weekend.
Yes yes yes!!! More Karen!!!
Shes adorable. As a fellow 24yo I got like 3 of those
I like when hosts give their staff public recognition.
2:24 Baby Shark Clap to compliment Seth, ultra-cute!
That's why seth is the best. He connects with the young folk. 😂🤣
That could be a whole show... and I would gladly watch it.
Sure, Karen, Baby, You Want a Dollar was the Kickstart to Shark Tank. 😂😂😂😂
I would 100% watch 'Baby You Want a Dollar?' 10/10
PLEASE make this a recurring sketch! She's so cute and funny and this sketch was so fun to watch 😊
I just logged into my neopets account after 10 years.
She’s my age and I knew EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE! Lol
I love that she presented Neopets! Omg I truly miss taking care of mine
I literally love this. PLEASE do more of this segment with Karen. She’s adorable.
I am an elder millennial (35) and could answer everything! I am old and wise AND young and hip!
