    People credit this to Nadal playing poorly but to me it looks like Rosol was actually playing the match of his life.

    • @yoChris76
      @yoChris76 4 года назад +8

      yep.. it appears that Nadal is faultering everywhere, but.. when he gets his chances, he's on the money. Just outplayed, badly.. by someone that can canon every shot nearly..

    • @SaulGoodman-w2x
      @SaulGoodman-w2x 4 года назад +6

      It's 50-50 to me. Rosol closed his eyes and swung as hard as he possibly could which should normally result in a loss with 50+ unforced errors however on this day for few hours somehow these shots were going in. Nadal however was terrible. Returning in the middle of the court, not moving at all, getting caught flatfooted so many times, etc.

    • @naveed210
      @naveed210 4 года назад +2

      thespotlightkid I think Rosol’s approach and the rate of success he was getting shook Nadal more than it being a bad game for Rafa. On 1 graphic early in the 5th, Rafa had more aces!

    • @Molybdaenmornell
      @Molybdaenmornell 4 года назад +2

      @@SaulGoodman-w2x The point is that anyone would be caught flatfooted by that power hitting. Even Federer and Djokovic don't give Nadal nearly that amount of consistent power. It's a playing style pretty much no-one can rely on, but it will win if it works, because the opponent is highly unlikely to be having that kind of day themselves. I think Nadal was far from terrible here. He probably wasn't at his best, I guess.

      I think people get this one mixed up with brown which is sad. Even though Brown played very well in 2015, rafa was world no.10 and playing the worst tennis of his career. At this point, he was in good form and just won the french open but Rosol simply played the match of his life.

      Closed roof faster conditions it is good for Big servers actually
      Those buggers have decided to closed the roof in 5th set which is crucial moment which will decide the match for sure.
      Nadal is not quick to adjust to environment and conditions
      He couldn't adapt to conditions for sure.
      Rosol played great in 2nd and 3rd set for sure but 5th set it became one sided only
      Before he got adjusted
      Rosol broke the serve and started serving bombs to him which cannot be returned simple
      6-4 final set
      Wimbledon 2018 was fair and acceptable for sure
      They started playing with closed roof in 1 set only it is justified and acceptable.
      Djokovic defeated Nadal in fair manner.
      2012 Wimbledon
      They closed the roof in 5th set which is extremely important moment for Nadal actually.
      Nadal is worst in indoor courts for sure from beginning it didn't favour him and his playing style.
      Majors should be played outdoors only not indoors
      Tennis is outdoor sport not indoor sport except ATP finals and Paris masters simple
      Nadal is finished on grass in 2013 not 2012
      Darcis
      Dustin brown
      Kyrgios
      Muller defeated Nadal in fair manner they played brilliant against Nadal.
      Djokovic and Federer are very quick at adapting to the change for sure
      But not Nadal for sure.
      Wimbledon 2012 surface is slower than 2011 Wimbledon so mostly it favours Nadal for sure in 2nd week.
      If they want to close the roof they have to do it in 1st set or 3rd set or 4th set not 5th set which is extremely important for Nadal and his fame also
      Wimbledon 2012 🏆 is robbed from Nadal and given to Federer these all are plan and tactics for Federer.
      Federer can't defeat Nadal in any surface as his performance and level got declined than in his prime at Wimbledon(2006 and 2007)
      The player who is afraid to look into eye of Nadal lifting Wimbledon title is not acceptable at any cost.
      Federer have mental block against Nadal for sure.
      It will be like Australian open 2012 semifinals results only in finals Wimbledon
      Wimbledon 2012 never happened at all it is discarded simple actually
      Wimbledon officials did favoritism actually those who are rooting for Rosol are fans of Federer and Murray
      Who lost to Nadal in 2008,2010,2011)
      Nadal problem is Djokovic not Murray and Federer as he can handle them better for sure.
      Nadal have mental block against Djokovic since 2011.
      They have decided to closed the roof in 5th set which is not right as weather conditions were perfect to play.

    The perfect way to play a set against Rafa on grass. Gave him no rhythm by keeping the rallies 2-3 shots maximum, and because of that Rafa never felt comfortable returning his serves when he got a racket on them (often passive so that Rosol could rip the next ball). An absolute masterclass.

      Nadal is most favorite player to reach finals for 6th time and win 3rd Wimbledon title in 2012 actually for people
      Rosol destroyed Nadal in 5 sets
      Federer and Andy Murray got relaxed in Wimbledon 2012 😂😂😂 when they heard Nadal lost in 2nd round.
      It happens few tricky players are unplayable for Big players.
      Nadal faced 4 players like that which is tough
      1. Rosol
      2. Darcis
      3. Kyrgios
      4. Dustin brown
      5. Muller(Seeded player)
      If Nadal reached grandslam finals twice in 2012

      But he lost to Rosol who played best in 5th set actually.

    The greatest performance ever imo, especially considering the rankings. Rosol played like a world no.1 that day. Rafa was still world no.2 and was coming off a French Open title run and AO final run. Not to mention the fact he made the final of Wimbledon the year before. Ppl seem to forget, given his subsequent bad form on grass, that he was a favourite for the tournament and was playing exceptional tennis at the time. Rosol just played the match of his life, literally a 1 in 1 million performance where everything he touched turned to gold and he seemed to have no nerves. Nothing Rafa could do against that.

  • @TheFelix1703
    @TheFelix1703 4 года назад +27

    Rosol did it right. Reached the fifth set vs Nadal, might as well just go for it, who cares. And it was the 100% correct tactic.
    Whats stunning about this defeat is that it took Nadal years to recover from it. It started a run of underwhelming results vs the likes of Darcis, Kyrgios and Dustin Brown and all of them used similar tactics: Hammering it from the baseline, dont even bother setting up the point, just put the hammer down.

    As a Rafa fan, watching Wimbledon has been very hard from 2012-19.
    2012 Rosol
    2013 Steve darcis
    2014 Nick kyrigos
    2015 Dustin brown
    2016 -
    2017 Gilles Muller
    2018 Novak Djokovic
    2019 Roger
    And out of all these the one that hurts most is his loss to Novak in 2018. He was so close. That controversial roof covering, missed set points in 3rd set tie break, missed 3 break opportunities in ninth game in 5th set....that was a tough loss to digest as a Rafa fan. That was a virtual final. The winner of that match was favorite against Kevin Anderson.
    I think the main contenders for title on grass are Roger and Novak....only an injury to these two can give Rafa a chance to win another title here

    anyone putting this down to Nadal playing badly needs to look at some of the stats for this match. Rosol's *AVERAGE* groundstroke speed was 86mph and peaked at 116mph. That's faster than some people serve. Nadal may look like he's hitting unforced errors but it's just because Rosol was hitting SO hard

      Rafa lost a bit of momentum after winning the 4 th set when they decided for an hour break before the 5th, that helped Rosol to regroup himself,had they continued without that delayed break I guess Rafa would have broken him in the 5th but we never know, credit to Lukas for playing so well

      Rosol saved Big players like Djokovic,Federer and Andy Murray by stopping Nadal in 2nd round.
      Nadal was in full of vengeance and 🔥 actually and Djokovic is not in his head like 2011.
      He would take vengeance for Wimbledon 2011 actually
      Djokovic would be burnt if he met Nadal for sure.
      Rosol is 💧
      Nadal is 🔥
      Nadal got broken mentally and physically it took 5 years to reach semifinals actually.
      Djokovic surpassed Nadal fully at Wimbledon I don't think he will get chance to beat Djokovic in 2023 to 2026.
      Nadal is nightmare to Federer and Murray at Wimbledon for sure
      Djokovic would also not playing like 2011.
      He would get destroyed by Nadal for sure
      Rosol was born to stop Nadal before entering 2nd week actually.
      Those three players should be thankful to Rosol actually against Nadal at Wimbledon who reached Wimbledon finals 2006 to 2011 lost in 2nd round in 2012.

Kyrigos developed with each passing day.. and u can see he hated Nadal in 2019 Wimbledon and in 2020 Australian open it changed.. becoz kyrigos knows. Nadal , federed , Djokovic are not 1 day players they are players who will get up and win on all days.. not like these once in a year moment
