A330’s are more passenger friendly with a 2-4-2 layout. Nice to see more A330’s
And you can charge more per passenger for the 2s calling them preferred seats
I wouldn’t be surprised that Delta is considering a 60-plane A330-800neo order. That will allow the airline to replace its entire 767 fleet in one fell swoop.
They probably could use the A350-900ULR or the A350-1000 for added range.
I’ve read where their current A350-900’s struggle to make the Johannesburg- Atlanta route, resulting in reduced payloads. I think they have had to make refueling stops as well.
URL and 1000 would allow them to relaunch service to India and Singapore, plus add ultra long distance destinations.
Yes, some of their older a350 frames have a MTOW of around 270-275T (not sure) , but the more capable 283T a350-900s they shall receive should be able to solve that issue of JNB.
The ULR is not needed, a35k's ranger should suffice
Problem is demand. The A350-900ULR is such a niche aircraft. The A350-1000s sounds like a far better plane for an option.
Don’t forget the 350-1000ULR for Qantas…I wonder if it would help.
If Delta orders a big number of the A330-800, that would be a major boost for the type.
I have a feeling they're leaning in that direction because of the potentially sizeable discount that they will get.
I was just about to say delta needs an a380!
@@Alislug 😂
And other airlines will follow suit too
@@bilal9445 I don't know if more airlines will order because Delta is, but it could result in a few more sales
@@bilal9445 nope , not at all. I even doubt if they have considered the a338 at all.
Delta already has A330-900 neo and A350-900 .
It would be nice if they order A330-800 neo and A350-1000
A330 800 ❤❤❤
So many airlines announcing huge orders! Great momentum for the industry! 🎉
Another cycle of over ordering.
And you, the consumer, will be paying for these orders with increased ticket prices and fees...
@@Mark-uh7cr Doesn't really work that way with airline pricing. It will be based on demand and supply. Adding more capacity actually tends to reduce pricing in the industry. Pricing is high right now because capacity is constrained.
And I thought panic buying was just for us folks, even airlines do it sometimes.
Just wait and see, hundreds more orders coming for airbus and Boeing this year
@@mmm0404 It's a classic over ordering cycle again in the the industry. We've seen if before.
The A330-800neo would be an ideal 767-300ER/-400ER replacement, so it would be a huge boost for that variant
Nope
And they already operate the A330-900neo and more, the planes would have a common type rating.
Delta could save big on a large order and with a330-800s and a350-1000s they can get them early since the backlogs aren't substantial yet
They would gravitate more towards A330neo. It have small backlogs, it's very cheap, and it fits most of their routes.
I think the A330-800 would be a good fit to replace their older 767-400ERs, if not their A330-200s.
Maybe not the -400ERs but definitely all -300ERs
I hope it is the A330-800 and A350-1000
a350-1000 is 100% on the way, trust me on that

The A330-800 actually has 12 orders, after undisclosed customer ordered a single unit in April, not 11.
Wow, that's totally life-changing for the variant. Shocking.
Delta is thriving in the internet these days
Delta Needs
30 -A350-1000. International expansion operate x-long routes
20-A350-900 needs to be operated on routes without weight restriction
250 - A330-800 B767 replacement
Delta has already has orders for the A321Neo and majority of them hasn’t been delivered yet
That would be a great boost to the A330 NEO program
That's unrealistic.
More like
25 a35Ks
15 a359s
50 a330 sounds more reasonable.
Anyway both the MAX 10 and current a321neo orders should cover 757 replacements
@@mmm0404 not in range
And here in South Africa we have two A350s (Cape Town and Johannesburg) of those 28 A350s everyday coming or going to Atlanta.
I think the 350-1000 would help them immensely.
i am Surprised to hear that an American airline would order more Airbus than Boeing. I guess it proves Airbus now has the momentum and has the better airplanes when compared to Boeing.
Delta can use the A350-1000 for premium heavy, high-demand routes such as London, Sydney, Paris and Tokyo. The A350-900 could replace the A330ceos and the 767 could be replaced by the A330neo (or the 787-9 if they went with Boeing).
See this is why the Boeing / Airbus thing is tribal, the comments here sulking because a US Airline hasn't bought Boeing
And guess who'll be the first one sulking when a European Airline doesn't buy Airbus. !!!
Well done delta
Unfortunately, air India ceo doesn't see the remarkable benefits of these aircraft types
Delta should order the A321XLR to replace the 757-200 and 767-300ER on thinner routes.
Delta would be foolish to ignore boeing, the 787 would be the better 767 replacement
Go cry in the corner 😂, delta has proven airbus can be a great option for any airline
@@maxsaviation9512 oh my I guess the Atlanta to jo'berg route and the problems the A350 are having being underpowered for that hot and high takeoff even with lil to no cargo and 100 empty seats something the triple 7 did with those GE90-110 engines did fully loaded more often than not. You don't have to explain anything to him..
It's beyond Maxs' infantile realm of comprehension anyways..
Adds absolutely nothing to the conversation other than his obvious love affair with anything AB.!!!
@@SRT-fv6wr Boeing bias adds nothing to the conversation like armchair expert Jamie up there thinking he knows better than Delta and they should order the 787
I doubt that's the case.
An important factor is Delta only operates Airbus newer widebodies these years. They have retired the B772s from their fleet. The 757/767 is up next.
Delta currently operate a massive Airbus fleet. They can easily train A320 crews to fly A330s due to system commonality, and such pilots only need 7 day training to get an A330 endorsement. (CCQ) This also applies for the A350. If you know how to fly an Airbus A320, you pretty much know how to fly every other Airbus except the A300/A310.
The reason 767 is still kept is due to its common type rating with the 75, allowing the entire 75/76 rated group of pilots to easily switch between the two types. As the Boeing 757 and 767 are inevitable going to be phased out, Delta is going to keep their fleet simple by soon operating an Airbus only widebody fleet.
Delta had canceled their previous 787 orders in the past. I think they will do fine so long the execs proceed with caution.
Maybe a330 800 and a350 1000 thats very nice aircraft
Don't know if you already made a video on this but one exploring how many years/flight hours an aircraft needs to run to make its ROI would be interesting.
Well, Delta has many airlines that ordered already, they have waited so long that any new aircraft won’t be delivered until 2030 anyway, what a mess
Delta is going to wait until the OTHER airlines finish their order, by then the delivery slots will be years and years longer, just don’t understand their delay?
Time for Delta to phase out the 767s and streamline the fleet
My United flight to Tokyo from Newark was completely booked. Not one seat to spare, they had even managed to allocate one seat to three different people in the row behind me! At least it wasn’t overbooked so they all got a seat in the end… 😂
Happy to see a futur long haul fleet 100% Airbus!!!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣 You win the internet today, I'm LMAO 🤣😂🤣
Not too many small planes need more bigger planes iwant 380 please
Hey Simple Flying, KLM is also considering to place an order for either the A350-1000 or B777-9.
330 and 350
Can't wait for more stuff about Delta... What about United? They are planning to enhance every aircraft in their fleet which is very nice.
American and American both say thank you....
Could they make a A330-700 which would fill the gap left by the B757 and B767.
It will certainly be a great cost benefit for Delta Airlines and also Boeing or definitely Airbus, it will be an economy.
Why is there no consideration of getting any dreamliner's
After all Boeing was the backbone of DL fleet between the 747 -57-67
Pretty sure it has to do with the pilots. Delta doesn't operate any modern Boeing wide bodies. Those currently flying the 757 (not a wide body but phasing it out) and 767 will need to be retrained anyway so it makes sense they would go with Airbus wide bodies to keep it consistent with the current fleet.
When Delta merged with Northwest, they inherited Northwest's 787 order but chose to cancel the order and go for the A330neo.

If airbus and boeing finish 2-3 aircraft each per week then maybe Airlines would be ordering more aircraft, but at the moment with so many delays whats the point in ordering more than 50 if it'll take like 5 years to receive them
honestly I’m going with A350-1000 👍🏽
as the 2nd largest airline in the world, Delta’s widebody fleet is not as impressive relative to it’s size.
I would love to see a mix of A330-800 and A350-1000 been ordered even though that means the end of any hope that DL would ever order any 787...
If they buy airbus planes, it must made in the USA. If not they will pay huge amount of tariffs.
I hope they get A350-1000.
A little surprised they haven’t joined their American counterparts in ordering 787s
nah, most US airlines buy Boeing for the sake of it even if it isn't the better option. Stubborn arrogance
@@ant2312 even European airlines are buying the 787 over the inferior a330neo ... Perhaps the huge 787 backlog turned delta off
@@ant2312- 787 is more expensive, but more capable than the A330 NEO. DL likes getting a steal of a deal. Some of the Airbus planes DL bought don’t have the range. 😮
Damnit Delta, enough with the Airbus…..787 please
Nope
sorry mate, US airlines don't *have* to buy Boeings
don't worry, I except a 787 order from Air France to replace their a330s, call it even.
No. Delta doesn’t want anything to do with Boeing widebodies.
Plus Delta already cancelled a 787-8 order in 2016 which originally came from nwa
A350-900 and Airbus A330- 900 Neo
The A330-800 is the closest 767 replacement aircraft that Airbus offers. Hopefully they could get a good discount since this airframe sales have been less popular than the larger -900. This would also allow Delta to add additional second-tier destinations.
*A330-800

A380
The sooner Delta retires the 767s and 757s the better. This airline tries to keep an image of superiority but the bulk of their wide body fleet from JFK to Europe is older the 25 years. That’s just lame.
Delta 380
Nice
I don’t think they will order the a330-800 because the a330-900 has simply better economics and is only marginally more expensive. They don’t need the range because they have the a350’s for the ultra long haul rates which have even better fuel economics than the a330 on ultra long haul routes. However I do think they will order the a350-1000 because they can use additional capacity on some routes especially the ones that are slot restricted LHR for example I think they will order this is only an educated guess ofcourse:
30x a330-900
20x a350-900
10x a350-1000
The a330-900 is too big for 767 replacement
@@harstoft maybe but the A330-800 just hasn’t a much better fuel economy than the a330-900. They can also increase the space per passenger or put more business class seats or premium economy seats in there in order to come closer to the 767-300 amount of seats. However the economics of the a330-800 just doesn’t make sense that’s also why only a few airlines operate the a330-800
Time to replace the 767!
No 330-800. No need for its range with the 350-900. Delta will order more 330-900 - operating costs aren't much more than -800, with more seats for more revenue. Supposedly the 330-900 seating may be reduced to 262, to have more premium seats.
Are you sure about that, regarding operating cost? I would imagine the A338 has a significantly lower MTOW due to its size....

Personally I would like to see Delta order a bunch of new 777’s.
because you're American I guess
Personally, I would love to see them order the 777x-9 as well. Or even quite possibly the 787-10, but we know that either order isn't going to happen. Delta would be an all Airbus operator if they could. The only reason (in my opinion) why they ordered the 737-10 Max is so they wouldn't be seen as anti-American.
@@ant2312 thanks for reminding us again that you are anti-American. Well appreciated
No way. Delta is the only one of the big 3 that hasn’t ordered a Boeing wide body in over a decade. Delta’s widebodies are headed to all Airbus no matter what.
ITs a disappointment to me as I am big Boeing person, sadly Boeing has lost their way so its not surprising that Delta is going Airbus. I live in ATL so if I want to fly the 787 or 777 I have to go with a delta competitor which is fine, if I want to fly direct back to ATL from overseas I definitely will shop around and if its only Delta that has a direct from overseas to ATL, then it’s Delta, but it wont be my default airline for sure. The airbus jets are nice but I still want to experience a variety.
Plenty of variety in AIrbus product, in fact, I would say there is more variety at Airbus than at Boeing. And it's been a loooong time that Delta has been ordering very significant Airbus orders.
How does Delta ordering Boeing mean that Boeing has lost their way? United and American have ordered Boring wide-bodies recently.
How has Boeing lost its way because of delta going for airbus?
@@nickolliver3021 what a strange question, even the most staunch Boeing fans will admit that the company has lot its way the last few years, even possibly going back to the McDonnel Douglas merger
@@ant2312 Just because of the McDonnell Douglas Merger does not mean Boeing has lost its way. Even Airbus has lost its way when it made bad decisions so either stop making out Boeing is the only one that has "lost its way" as airbus has as well. But then again gaining orders more than airbus doesn't mean they have lost their way too
Won’t happen, but I’d love to see them order the new 777X and the big Dreamliner. I far preferred my 777 long hauls over the A330 or A350. But, DL hates Boeing so sadly, that won’t happen. A US carrier buying from a US owned/built OEM. Also, the 757 is still by far my favorite single aisle aircraft.
Maybe delta should order b777x.
So saddened 😢😢 to see Delta a wonderful Airline, essentially become an Airbus carrier, unfortunately majoring its wide body fleet in those, which imho are thoroughly bettered as a wide body by Boeings greater quality + options 787, 777X.
boeing is desperately clearing its 787 backlog because of its production delays. as for the 777X, it is still an unfulfilled promise yet to even be certified. not surprised that delta chose airbus over boeing given all these circumstances, especially since airbus is much more capable of delivering what delta needs
They ordered 100 737 max last year. It’s only their wide body fleet that will be all Airbus. Probably better for maintenance etc.
Airbus has better quality kid, they went for a challenge and proved airbus can work.
