Even if the card is for the foul and not kicking the ball away, there's still a consistency issue. Haaland NFL tackled Saliba in a similar play earlier in the half and no foul was even called!

Referee set the standard and precedence when he didn’t give foul to Halland for clattering into Saliba which was more dangerous than what Trossard did to Silva.
Second as pointed out correctly , Silva was still on the floor when Trossard kicked the ball , the delay between whistle and Trossard kick was 0.83 seconds . so how can Trossard be booked for time wasting? Is Trossard a robot to flip a switch in less than a second after hearing Referee’s whistle.

Looked at the 94th minute of the ManU v Liverpool game from 9/1/24. Liverpool commits a foul and prevents a quick restart with ManU down 3-0. And would you believe it, no card. Look at the same ref you refused to send Kovačić off last season vs. Arsenal on a really bad tackle on Odegaard because it would have altered the game. Or go back to Wolves v Arsenal this season when Mosquera choke-slammed Havertz. There's zero consistency and anyone defending this bs sending off for delay of game are insane. Haaland has 18 goals and 8 assists in 26 career matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle. Not to mention scoring against the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Leipzig, Sevilla, Besiktas, Lazio, and Napoli. This whole myth that he doesn’t show up against top teams is nonsense and based on a ridiculously small sample size that people have run with. Haaland is already the 12th leading Champions League knockout stage goal scorer at only 24 ahead of the likes of Mane, Suarez, Neymar, Henry, Salah, Kaka, Eto’o, Torres, Ibrahimovic, Aguero, Del Piero, Morientes, Van Persie, Mandzukic, Griezmann, Tevez, etc.

Silva saw it coming and turned to make it look like it was shoulder-to-back. And Trossard was just doing what MO had said was at most a foul earlier. What's the value of a rule book if the ref can't show any consistency? Doku was the one who intentionally kicked the ball when he had no business doing so. Trossard saw a break and was preparing to feed Martinelli. He pulled back a bit after hearing the whistle, but didn't have time to avoid contacting the ball. I can see MC's complaints about the restart before the first goal. MO did a poor job of managing the game.
