- This week we do something different as we invite you inside our tiny home on wheels for an authentic look at the life of two guys living full time in a campervan. This van tour will delve into the nitty gritty of vanlife while showcasing all the features Daisy has - which is surprisingly a lot for her modest size!
#vantour #vanlifeuk #vwcamper
One thing we do forget to mention is exactly what Daisy is! Poor girl! So she's a 1996 VW Swift Carrera. She may have a few years and miles on the clock, but she's a versatile girl with a lot going for her, and we're very grateful for the life we've been able to lead as she takes us on our travels. The video's a bit longer than normal which we didn't expect, but do stick with it as we take you through her en suite bathroom, vast (ahem) kitchen, and gracious drawing room. This life isn't for everyone, but we hope this will give you some insight into what to expect if you do plan to try living or travelling in a campervan.
As always, we love to hear from you, so do leave any feedback in the comments section.
Thank you for your support, we really appreciate it! Please like the video (and share it if you can), and press the free Subscribe button if you want to follow our journey. You can also press the notification bell so you know exactly when a new episode is released.

Morning everyone! ❤ First of all, bloody hell, how did we end up with a feature length video 🙈 I feel we should apologise for that 😂 The irony that we didn't think it was going to be long enough and were going to chuck in a trip to Whitstable as well 😬 Little did we know. In truth, it probably could've been edited down more but believe it or not, lots of footage was cut to even get to this. Anyway, hopefully you stick with it and aren't too bored! And equally aren't put off by this insight into our oh-so-glamorous lives 😂 If it was interesting and informative in some way then that's great.
As for today, the weather's looking better now so maybe some videos in the sunshine soon 🌞 Happy Sunday all and thank you for watching ❤
Dan & Stephen
P.S - back to the regular video length next week 😂
I can't believe I've actually found the perfect van life channel now am binge watching . ❤ I subscribed on the first video the Bath one it was the quote from the bench made me giggle and subscribe ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Susan, thank you so much, we are very flattered you've decided to catch up on our other videos! Glad you're enjoying them 🤗
Hi Steve, hi Dan, I don’t know why you find it necessary to apologise. Your van is lovely a little old but aren’t we all a little untidy again aren’t we all people can’t accept you for what you are and who you are and those people are not worth having a space for in your life. I could see no problem for your little van Keep up the good work keep smiling and Steve fitted perfectly on his little throne. Catch the next one. Take care guys love PJ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Aww Paul, that's very reassuring and lovely to read, thank you for your kind comments 🥰 We are who we are as you say, we can't pretend to be anything else and I'm not sure I fully trust anyone who's 100% spotlessly clean or lives in a perfectly organised world anyway 😂 Just kidding, we all have our quirks and needs!
We make the best of our small surroundings although we do realise we could "pretty her up" somewhat. Daisy has a lot going for her though and we are grateful we can essentially live our lives in her for the time being. Thank you again ❤
Mate, ya don't need to apologise. At the end of the day it's ur gaff. Nout wrong with it. Onwards & upwards lads. 💪🏼😎
Thanks Gareth, appreciate it 👍
You are great, guys! I enjoy watching your videos. You are so honest and genuine.
Thank you! ❤️
The best van tour I have ever seen 😄
If you've only seen one, it just might be 😂 But wow, thank you, we will still grab that compliment with both hands 😍🙏
Love this vlog you both do exactly what me and my partner does in our van for me this is life and for us is perfect love it wouldn’t want to change it living the dream. Love you both , you should get a dog in need a loving home and I’m sure you both would be great parents
That's great you and your partner love being in a van too, when it works there's nothing quite like it! Have you had your van for long?
A dog would be wonderful but might be tricky with our jobs and the space we have, but I know it's possible so we might consider it. Thank you for your lovely comments 😊
6:29 It's pretty obvious which way you swing but, hey, love is love! 🏳️🌈🤘😂
Thanks for the tour. She's in pretty good shape for an old girl!
Damn, we thought we were so ambiguous with it as well 🤪
It's astonishing how well the van holds up after nearly 30 years given everything is original. However, I don't think anyone ever lived in it full time until now so I'm sure we've sped the wear and tear along somewhat 😬🙈
@@comealongdear 😂😂😂
Having been privileged enough to have stepped foot in Daisy I have to say again, the camera doesn't give a true scale of just how small she is. However we are shocked at how much is crammed into her. Alison is pleased to see you have your space well prioritised with 3 Mogwais and Bill & Ben.
You are very much correct, we brought a newer van thinking it would need less repairs, yet we are always finding odd screws and bits that have fallen out of who knows where and that's on top of the bit I knock off or snap off.
Much love to you all, Steve, Dan and of course the glorious lady that is Daisy, Alison & Darren 🤟♥️
Thank you guys, yes it can never be underestimated how the camera seems to make Daisy look twice as big as she is. Bless her, it's flattering (but not intentional on our part) but the reality is a lot more...cosy 😂
I think old or new, vans will always need repairs and are all just as vulnerable when it comes to knocks and scrapes. Engine wise though, the VW does seem to be very sturdy but I'm just going to stop talking about that in case I jinx things 🤪😬
The 3 Mogwais are very important, if we stay in a particularly threatening park up we just feed them after midnight to protect us 😉
Much love to you both too (and Perse of course) and all the furry friends. Love Dan & Stephen xx ❤️
Hi Steve and Dan. Nice to see your home and how you live in it. Thank you for sharing ❤️
Ah Anna and Steve, thank you! 🥰 God knows how we manage but here we are 🤣 Need to catch up on your travels as enjoy your vlogs ❤
Best van tour ever! You lads are incorrigible.
Ahh thank you so much! ❤
Hi Steve & Dan. I decorated our 23 year old caravan. I bought cheap “cover any surface white paint” from B & Q white and it covers anything and just covered everything with it. Seemed to cover well. Might work in your bathroom I also bought stick on tiles in a sheet. From Amazon “Fantasnight Grey Tile Stickers Vinyl Peel and Stick for Bathroom Kitchen 30x15cm 12Pcs Brick Self Adhesive Wall Tile Waterproof Tiles Stick on Tile Backsplash”round the cooker. Love video it’s nice to just hear from normal happy go lucky people.
Hello, sorry for the late response! Those are really useful ideas for us, thank you. I think the basic all purpose paint thing makes sense to spruce it up simply, and the stick on tiles would be an easy and colourful addition for the kitchen. One day, we'll get onto it 😂
Love this vlog❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, very happy you enjoyed it ❤❤❤ (I won't attempt to beat your number of hearts 😂😉)
Daryl and Keith of Campervan Tales recently reviewed a commercial composting toilet but they never mentioned how many poops before it overloads for two poopers, no one ever covers that.
Ooh have been meaning to catch up on their Northumberland series as we want to go there. Yes I thought as much about the compost toilet, everyone says how good they are, well yes that's all very nice, but how much crap can it take?! 😂 And how do you get rid of that much! It doesn't matter because we'll never use one all the time we've got this set up, but I want to know!
Absolutely loved your van tour, only just realised how long it was.😂 I love the layout, if you see this can you give the dimensions full length and width, I'm amazed at how much is fitted into such a small space. Our little van is only for mini breaks so we don't live in it and is 5 mtrs long. I havent yet read all the comments so apologies if someone has said already but for covering the wear on the panel near your cooker could you maybe tart it up with stick on tiles or fablon or as they used to say on Blue Peter, sticky back plastic.
Thank you! ❤️ We've bought some stick on tiles we're going to try to jazz things up a bit.
I don't have the exact dimensions to hand, but our van is surprisingly small so yes it's amazing how much is fitted in there! It's a fraction over 5 metres in length, maybe 2.5 tall and I can't remember the width but let's just say it's not very wide at all really, barely wider than a car. It serves us really well and for every downside to the space issue there is an upside to being so "compact".
I hope you have/have had some great little adventures in your camper!
Thankyou, yes we've had some lovely travels in our little van. We've just discovered the out of season Haven Sites and had 3 nights at £15 a night including EHU and use of all facilities including swimming pool. We've just booked 2 nights next week at £12 a night with EHU etc on the stunning Yorkshire coast 😂
Oh my god how did we not know about those! Can I ask where the first one was with use of swimming pool etc? We would love that! Enjoy the Yorkshire coast, this is the best time of year for it I think 😁
Steve and Dan I love the way you guy's Potter about, you make it such fun to watch, both of you are lovely and pleasing on the eye if I may be so bold, I wish you both all the luck in the world
Wow, thank you Michael for your kind words, that's really nice to read, we really appreciate that 😍 Very happy you enjoy our videos ❤
Thank you for taking the time to give us a tour of your van. My Big Van is 30 years young next year. At least it is paid for. I also have my share of faided ticky tack wallpaper. You can take it off and paint over the woodish stuff under it, or roughen it up with 200 grit sand paper then prime and paint. Being an older female I use a female urinal for #1 and a bag and horse bedding pellets for the medium for #2. Double bag it and toss it in a trashcan. I don't use the shower in my van either. When you paint get good brushes and the small rollers they are worth the extra money. The toilet can be sanded primed and painted or spray painted as well. Best wishes on sprucing up your rig. Safe travels.
Thanks so much! 😍 Some fantastic advice there and gives us hope it can be spruced up! Glad you enjoyed the video. What sort of van have you got? The old ones can have a lot going for them ❤
I think we like the idea of peeling off the wallpaper stuff, sanding and painting them all different colours. Good to know we can sand and paint the toilet too 😂 Thanks for commenting and for your help 😀 👍
@@comealongdear I'm in the US and my class b van is Canadian Made it is a Pleasure Way 1995 STW on the Dodge Ram Van 3500 platform. My late husband and I are the 3rd owners. I think it's longer, a little wider and a little taller than your van. It only has seatbelts for 2 and the bedroom is in the back. It can be 2 twin beds or a Queen sized bed. It is perfect for 2 people and a palace for one. We were trying to visit all the National Parks and had really just started when my husband passed away in late December of 2022.
So sorry to hear that Anita 😟 Did you get much time to travel in it together before he passed? If you are carrying on solo then that's fantastic, good for you! You can still take him to some of those places in spirit ❤
Your van sounds perfect - we love ours but something that TEENY bit bigger without being a motorhome would be ideal although equally I hope we'll be in Daisy for a long time yet. Safe travels and adventures to you 🤗❤
@@comealongdear We purchased our Class B van just under 2 years before my husband passed. We had quite a few fantastic trips in it together and made some great memories. Because of the pandemic we would have still been waiting for a van if we had tried to purchase new, so I am thankful that he found this one. I am trying to decide if I want to keep traveling in the big van or just upgrade my systems in the minivan that gets really good gas mileage and blends in anywhere. If I decide to sale the big van I will likely take it on an epic trip to Alaska via Canada and sale it in Alaska were it would bring a premium price. I would then work my way home by fairy, long distances train, and bus. I have a wilderness backpacking background, so while I still can I want to go minimal. Being in my mid sixties, I am almost invisible when I travel... I really miss my soul mate, but he would want me to have experiences. He had worked as an expat when he was in his mid 20s, so he had experienced world travel. Me, I had never been out of the north American continent until 2016.. We had hosted foreign exchange students and we were planning to visit both of their home countries. Life can change in a second, so live, love and explore. You are such an inspiration for me to return to the UK.
Another great video. You need to stop apologising for things. You’re two guys living in a older van. You’re doing your best. It’s a lovely van for the age of it. I actually look forward to Sunday’s when u release a new video. You guys are so funny. Everyone has to gone in a bottle at one stage or another. Keep going guys you’re going great. I watch you guys because youre down to earth. We get everything with you guys like you said most RUclips’s cover things up. Everyone gets dirty we all just hide it. I respect that you are always honest and hide nothing. You have a forever follower in me.
That means a lot to us Paul, thank you ❤️ Apologising is in my (Dan's) make-up for whatever reason, Stephen always tells me off for it, I need some of his couldn't care less attitude sometimes 😂
We always try to show things how they are and what this life is really like, but also the fun things you can do in a van too. Thanks for following us and glad you're enjoying the videos ❤
You guys are so funny :) making me want a camper!
Ah that's brilliant, thank you 😁 Definitely give it a go if you can!
Hi fellas. New subscriber making my way through your videos. I love both of your honesty it’s warming to the soul. B&Q cupboard paint it’s expensive but really hard wearing and covers much more of an area than you would think. And the stick on tiles could work too. Will be continuing to watch your videos as planning van life next year hopefully. Thanks fellas. X
Hello and welcome aboard 👋😁 Thank you for your kind words, and for the paint tip too! We never seem to find the time to do these things, but that's entirely our own fault. Brilliant that you're planning vanlife too! I hope it goes to plan for you, it's definitely something worth experiencing if you can. Thanks again ❤️
@@comealongdear you probably don’t find the time to do van diy as you are out there living! Oh also thought if you miss home comforts why don’t you look for house sitting work... you know for people with dogs or just don’t want to leave the house unattended when they go on holiday ?
Thanks guys. Top notch van tour. Really interesting. 👍 👍 👍
Cheers Matthew, glad you enjoyed it 👍😍
Brilliant van tour, thank you for showing us into your home .
Thank you Sharon, glad you enjoyed it 😊
Haahaaa, just discovered your channel, love this video & love you 2......'we don't like people' made me chuckle 🤣
Thanks so much! 😍🙏 Yeah we're not very social I'm afraid sometimes 😂 But I think that's okay
Hi guys loving the videos keep em coming, in regards of the cabinets you can yews cabinet rap it comes on a roll, just go to any D I Y store all the best Andy &GILLIAN. 👍
Thank you guys 😊 🙏
Fab video. Fantastic to watch your vids and follow you guys on your adventures.
Really appreciate that, thank you ❤️ 🙏
So guys. We have just gone down the portable compost toilet route, only because we were sent one to review. Apparently you can use each bag more than once but we feel that it is better to bin as soon as possible. Like you we only use the loo as a last resort. Needing to go gives us an excuse to visit a coffee shop.
So when are we finally going to meet you two?
Ah thanks guys, we thought as much! Yeah I'm not sure with composting I'd want it sitting there building up 😬
You get used to adjusting your body clock as and when you find toilets that's for sure, but it's essential for it to be there as back up! Always a bonus to park near toilets somewhere too.
Hopefully bump into you guys on the road at some point, we are up in Yorkshire in July I know that much 😊
This is my first time seeing you guys and Daisy. I really enjoyed your video.
For the scratched up bit to the right of the hob, maybe a small spice rack? That, or a lick of paint. Of course, you paint a bit, and you have to paint the whole lot.
Those vent screens, do they come off? They should do, for cleaning. If you can get them off, without destroying them, put them outside on the grass and use your shower to wash the dust out. Water works better than a Hoover, especially with a stiff brush, a bit of washing up liquid and a little elbow grease.
Do you still have the table top for the bed area? It's supposed to rest on the seat support rail to fill in the middle of the bed.
Cheers.
Jon in rural BC, Canada
Thanks Jon for all that help! The spice rack is a damn good idea, we keep our spices in a little pull out cupboard but if we put one there it would free that up for other things (plus easy access when cooking) so I love that idea!
I would assume the vents come off but we're a little reluctant to try. I think we need to persevere a bit at a time with those as there's years of dirt that's built up.
We have 2 tables, the bed has a middle cushion section that slots in so I'm not sure if the table fits in there too but maybe it does and we've missed something really obvious all this time which sounds about right 🤣
Thanks for watching and some great advice 👍 😀
Hi boys loved the van tour video and your usual honesty. I admire the sacrafices you make to live an alternative lifestyle .. which seems to have more ups than the challenging downs. Maybe? Hugs to both. Xx❤
Cheers Gary, glad you liked it. It's a good point about which is greater, the ups or downs! But we can safely say the ups outweigh anything bad by far! What we get to see in a van has been worth everything so far and made the sacrifices worth it. The "bad stuff" we try to see more as "challenges" 😂 Nothing is perfect of course but we're very glad we chose to do this on the whole 😀
Looking good with the cropped hair. Great video from you two again keep them coming ❤❤😊 Geoff and Samuel
Thank you Geoff and Samuel that's really kind of you 😊
I’ve just come across your channel and really enjoyed your tour of Daisy. Such a cute van - we have a modern version but tbh it completely lacks the character of Daisy. I think it must have been a really up-market campervan in it’s day and still going strong - the bed(s) look better than ours. Thank you for letting us in to your space - fantastic!
Thank you Irene, glad you enjoyed the tour! She definitely has a lot of character which a lot of the old ones seem to have more of I agree, and with all her little appliances and useful contraptions you can well imagine her to be top of the range once upon a time. The bed can be a pain to set up but it's pretty big when it is, which is a big plus! Thank you, and hope you've enjoyed some adventures in your van too 😊
@@comealongdear Only used as a day van so far with OH and 3 dogs, (OH isn’t as willing to “rough it 🙄” having been a Guide leader and camped out for many years) but we have just got a new-to-us caravan to tow behind the camper (hers and hers space 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣). Going away for a week for the first time with it soon.
Oh wow that sounds like quite the combo, a camper towing a caravan, I'm not sure I've even seen that before, interesting! You'll definitely get the hers and hers space that way 😂 Have fun, hope it goes well!
@@comealongdear Thank you, there are a few other campervans that tow a caravan these days.
you are my favorite van couple, you know a fine wine should be old as your van, keep up your reports. Many regards from Sweden. Please come back sometime 🙂
Thank you so much Stefan, a true fine wine would be perfect, not sure how much it would cost though 🤔 😂 Would love to come back to Sweden one day 😍
Howdy Gentlemen!! For a small space for two grown adults, you manage quite well! An aging vehicle requires constant maintenance. You can repair the paneling issue, it's just contact paper. You can simply recover it with new contact paper with a wood grain design. You could get posh & use wall paper with unique designs for something more fabulous! I'm amazed how well that you guys do in that small space. You're so blessed that you can snuggle up together in your sweet little home!!!! You can revitalize the wood with some "Old English" shellac or some "lemon oil" polish. If the vent screens are removable, you could blast them with a hose pipe & left to dry. Big bear hugs from Kenny in Ohio USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Howdy Kenny! Great to hear from you and what fantastic advice, thank you 🙏😍 We've had a few things suggested, but I think re-covering the panelling with the wood grain design you suggested might be the best way to go.
Great tips about the wood too, we didn't know that so we'll look into it.
It's not always easy but we do manage in this van and it's very cosy when the world is shut out for the night.
Very grateful for your advice, thank you and big hugs! ❤
Love your new hobby of mud wrestling 😂
In your cub board where you mentioned shelves would be good to have, I will suggest those hanging fabric shelves (IKEA has them). They are great.
Thank you, good tip! 👍 😍
This lowkey video actually make me wanna get a van! :D
Ah excellent! If you can then definitely give it a go 😍
We also use the bags and composting but with sawdust one layer sawdust then another layer on top of waste 😊
That makes sense, I'm not sure why we went with cat litter (chunky wood chip cat litter too 🤔😂) as sawdust is lighter, but I suppose they both do a job
Thanks for the tour guys. Love the videos please keep them coming. (Geoff)
Thank you Geoff, glad you enjoyed it 😊
Yes but that’s what I need to see .. the bare bones of how things really are .. van living .. loved it 😊 👍🏻
That's good to know, thank you 😊🙏 It's not always pretty and it's important to show that we thought. Of course we could make things prettier ourselves, but that's another thing altogether 😂
You could replace your vent with one of those maxi fan type vents to suck steam out? Some YT vanlifers are just that, professional vanlifers that do nothing else. Youze are two blokes living in an old ready made van and working part time, interesting to see how you make it work without throttling each other, I guess being married helps. 😄 That van was fully loaded with options from new. It would have cost a bomb. 👍
A maxi type fan/vent would be ideal - not least because in summer the current vent does nothing to cool the van down. I suspect we'd need a better power set up to support it, though.
And thank you, essentially we're two guys who wanted to live a bit differently for a while (a while meaning who knows how long) and find work to support it. So far, so good, however rough around the edges it often is 😆
Oh we do argue believe me - but considerably less than when we lived in a house in our old jobs, so I think that suggests we're happier overall, but mostly that we have no choice but to sort it out because there's nowhere to storm off to in this tiny van 😂
Hi guys! A really interesting video, and you really are too hard on yourselves!!
I’d like to see anybody live as you guys do in such a small space, and yes, she shows her age, but you guys are living your best lives!
With regard to your improvements, probably the most cost effective solution for your wear and tear surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom, is probably good old sticky back plastic or Fablon. You could use normal kitchen cupboard paint, but you would need to sand to create a bit of a key on the surface for the paint to stick.
And as for the fly net. Get your self a nail brush on a flat surface, and get yourself some mould and mildew spray. It will bleach the mildew and make them white again - and a little scrubbing action will get rid of the crud.
Thank you for sharing your little home with us all!!
Keep doing what you do!!
Thank you for your kind words and help! ❤ Yes she might be getting on but she has allowed us to do and see things we never thought possible so any of the difficulties have been well worth riding out and getting on with.
Great advice there, I think a sticky coating like fablon might be better for the bathroom and plastic cupboards.
Love your idea about the vent cleaning! That seems like a winner so we need to purchase a nail brush ASAP 😁
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the tour! ❤
The older the van the better I say brill wee vid lads big 👍👍from me
Cheers for that, yep the old ones definitely have a charm that can't quite be recreated 😁
Another wonderful video, thank you very much found it very interesting. These old vans have a lot of life in them my vans 31 years old and runs amazingly I don’t live in her full-time but I do like to go away whenever I can.
I think your video may inspire a lot of people to take a second look at the older vans,x
Ah thank you Linda ❤ They really can be incredibly sturdy and reliable can't they, not to jinx it or anything 🙉 That's lovely you have a van you get away in sometimes - any favourite areas you tend to go to? There's still so much of the UK we haven't explored yet.
Yes in terms of budget and knowing that some still have lots of life in them, hopefully it does show you don't need to spend 10s of thousands on a van and an older one can do just as well, depending on what you want.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you ❤️
What a refreshingly honest van tour :)
We have similar problems in Reg the elderly motorhome, so far I've found cupboard paint is great for covering the plasticky walls and ceiling and i tarted up some of the cupboard doors with vinyl stick on stuff. I also did the kitchen area with stick on tiles but some of them needed re-sticking after a very hot weekend. It's a work in progress and we are taking our time with it - prefer going away and chilling to DIY stuff.
If ever you come up to the north east, give us a shout and I'll help you with curtains on the sewing machine :D
Thanks so much guys, glad you enjoyed it 😍 If cupboard paint works then we'll definitely give it a go, just to tart it up from the aged look they've currently got.
I did wonder if stick on tiles might come loose in the kitchen, a combo of heat and cooking but certainly worth trying.
We're the same as you, we enjoy all the travelling and living in it, but the DIY stuff sends us running to hide under the covers 🤣 It's something we have to deal with unfortunately, but we know our limits and when to ask for help in certain cases.
Would love to explore the North East more, so much we haven't seen there. And that's very kind of you about the curtains appreciate it ❤ Thank you for watching guys 🥰
I love your baby Tks for the tour ❤❤
Do you mean the gizmos and bill & bens? If so, thanks 😊 They're part of the family now 😆
Hilarious and entertaining as always. We love your videos, all of them. What a nice cosy little van, far more to it than meets the eye. Definitely time to start interior decorating, lights, stickers and dangly things 😂. All our love Chris & Dione ✌️
Aww thank you both! 😊 She definitely has a lot more in her than you would expect. It's a bit of a mission at times but we've made it work and she's given us so many memories we never would have had otherwise. But you're right, she needs brightening up with love and accessories 😆😍 Hope you're both well xxx
Great video and we are here for your lovely van so no need to apologise. I love the soft toy collection (never spotted Bill and Ben before though). Nothing wrong with old things 🤣 Prosecco corks and all. I used to have a caravan that was very similar layout and style too but I love my memories from that van. Hopefully Stephen likes the van!
Haha that's a good point, but yes Stephen definitely likes the van 😂 His likes are mostly used up for that though so he's not got room for anything else 😉
It's definitely all about the memories, and that would largely be the same whatever van we had. However there's charm in old things, especially ones plugged up with cheap plonk corks 🤣
Thanks Jo x ❤
I love your van. It works for you so it’s perfect 🤩
Thank you Kath, it really does work for us even if it's not perfect. We would like a bigger space, but equally it's easier to drive and park in many places, so it's all a trade-off really
Just found your channel guys. Really good, easy watching and down to earth. Keep up the good work 👍
Thank you Guy, glad to have you along for the ride, appreciate it 👍
Wow! I love this honest, behind-the-scenes look at REAL van life! 🚐💨 It's refreshing to see all the quirks, the good, and the not-so-good. You guys are so down to earth and I bet you inspire others to try van life too! 👍 Also, the cork hack for the waste tank is pure genius 😂
Thank you very much, glad you liked the warts and all aspect of it all! And also happy someone else appreciates the cork job, honestly it fits perfectly 😂
Many congratulations on your 1000 subscriptions. We are on 53 lol. Sooo happy for you from Andrew Sharon xx
Thank you Andrew and Sharon ❤ We enjoy making the vids and we're happy if anyone wants to subscribe, it can take time to build however so keep plugging away and hopefully your audience will grow 😊
@@comealongdear Thanks so much 😀
looking forward to daisy getting a paint job Dan and Stevie 😂😂
We really really need to, after giving her a wash the difference in colours looks even more ridiculous now 🙈 Just not sure when and where we can do it at this stage!
I've heard if you want a successful YT Van channel you need a bikini girl showing bxtt. Maybe Steven could wear the swim suit? lol.
Most of the lighter wood look is really laminated chipboard. So a plastic like sheet glued over wood made from wood-bits and glue. Therefore a light sanding with 300 and or 600 grit sandpaper and then paint with your designed paint/colour. Sanding will help to clean/level and make paint stick properly and not run when drying so much. Masking-tape will help to not get paint on real-wood frames and edges. To me the wood theme looks good, but it's wearing. The back toilet area board if fabric, no sanding, just paint straight on for a unique hard texture. The plastic side trims should come off before painting. Test first if you like. The ends and frames of your kitchen is real-wood trims, so keep unpainted, or paint if you want a uniform look. If kept unpainted, then sand with 600 grit, & clear varnish. I would rip out toilet and shower, and just have a camping seat-toilet with a built in bucket. That will open up storage room. If you want to bring back whiteness of the old plastics if keeping shower and toilet, then research "retrobrite" methods. Maybe with the cupboard above the cooker, put foam stick-on seal for doors, so when closed no steam gets in?
Good Morning, thank you for these absolutely amazing tips! We are extremely slow at getting around to anything - in our defence, you often need somewhere secure to park up for a few days and with access to a separate sink/cleaning facilities etc so we can work on things more comfortably, but that is tricky as we don't have anyone where that's possible anymore as far as we know. Still, one little job at a time is of course possible anywhere and you've given some really helpful information there - very clear and easy for us to understand too. Thank you, it's greatly appreciated 🙏
Another great vlog thanks. If you ever come to Anglesey let us know?
Thank you, wouldn't mind a trip to Anglesey so hopefully we'll get to visit in time!
We love going to Anglesey
Great video guys :-) Have you looked at Vinyl wall tiles? I'm looking at them for my kitchen.
Thank you Tim! 😊 That's a great suggestion, we might have to try that as it'll be easy to put on hopefully. Hope you're well
1.75L innocent bottle. 👍
Yes!! This is the way forward 🥰😂
Hi, I enjoyed your van tour. I would like to ask how much roughly to get the gas flow type system installed. Thanks ❤
Hello, glad you enjoyed it! We've just tried to scroll through old emails to find the exact price and can't find it, but it was around the £400-500 mark about 18 months ago. It was 100% worth it as having to change the Calor gas bottles we had at the time was a bit of a trauma!
Hi what make is Steve's brown jacket i like it
Hi Andrew, it's a Schott jacket, although we bought it in a charity shop! 🤑 It's pretty nice though, looks like an older version of the brand maybe
45:53 And when the van's a rockin', don't come a knockin'! I'm guessing is one of you wants to bring a girlfriend back, the other has to go out?
ooo good lord this is the worst advertising vlog for DYS van I have ever seen....you accualy live there.......that said I do love you guys and your vlogs....they are never borring.....
Tell me about it, but estate agents are always dreadful and fake so we thought we'd do the real version, even if it means no one wants to buy it 😂 Luckily she's not for sale and we love her regardless 😆❤ Thanks Robert
Magnesium is good for your legs, circulation.
Either you've reminded us why we've got it in the first place, or given us reason to actually have it at all 😆 I'm glad you said that though as that's something I (Dan) probably need as I do often get terrible leg cramps (and I cannot swim front crawl anymore without seizing up in the legs), not sure that's circulation based or not, but it could be useful
@@comealongdear I have peripheral neuropathy and my leg wounds dont heal like they should, and I get cramps.doc told me any probs with legs you need magnesium, not lotion, tablets. Cramps fixed. I am taking 2x recommended min daily dosage.
I don't know much about the condition so I hope it isn't too bad for you, and manageable at least. The magnesium doing the job for cramps is very promising; it might then have a purpose other than sitting in our cupboard now!
@@comealongdear Oh yeah try it, its working for me. Nerve damage comes with age, injuries and some illnesses and it doesnt repair so dont get ill, have an accident or get old and you will be right. 😜 I am looking forward to you next video. 👍
ooo it is a case of dont touch it....thats what my ex always said......that is why she is my ex and all that....
...aaand we'll ask no more on that 🤣
Has Steve lost weight 🤔
He did lose loads of weight recently compared to most of our earlier videos, but he thinks he's put a little back on again. However he's still pressing on with the couch to 5k routine which is great 👍
Well he looks better for it 👍🏻
Thank you, he'll be well pleased with that 😀 👍
50 mins? spoilt!
Haha we're glad you see it that way 😂❤
Ffs 🤦♂️ what u two like 🤣🤣
Making it up as we go along pretty much 🤣

Your two very honest genuine guys and totally love your channel babe.
Aww thank you 😊 We try to be ourselves. Too much like hard work to try to be anything else 😂
Look your clearly not happy, come live with me Dan,moneys no option I’ll treat you like a king, holidays galore and not budget all luxury
Hang on, just sorting the divorce requirements and finding the cheapest (legal) way to do it, and then I'll get right back to you ❤️
