I have the A80L in 77” and love it. I had an LG C1 in 77” previously which was also great, but I prefer the overall package the Sony gives me.
How do you like the Sony 7 months later? Would you recommend it over the LG C3?
Good review as always! Did you notice the logo detection dimming when gaming? I was deciding whether to buy the TV or buy the LG c2 and I am concerned about that dimming issue.
If you haven't already
Select Settings. Select External inputs in the TV category. Select HDMI signal format and set to Enhanced format. Its For 60/120hz content and hdr compitable machines

This was very helpful! Now, since you’ve been able to compare it to the S95C, how do you find the motion and upscaling is on the two? I’m leaning toward the Sony for the low bitrate upscaling and processing, but love the colour pop and overall picture of the Samsung. Is there a big difference between the two in that front, and is the motion smooth on the Sony?
And the brightness, or lack thereof on the Sony seems to get a bad rap, too. Do you find its bright enough for a decently lit room?

@@suraj4020 are you playing in a very bright room? I'm asking because the brightness of S90C is the only advantage but to me, it's "too much". And yes, I'm not kidding, even on my current OLED, I NEVER use it on full brightness (not bright room). I game a lot and I find it very annoying to have full brightness. I'd go with LG anyway, even if it was more expensive or Sony. I have a Samsung at work and it's SUPER annoying (the menus and settings).
@@Delijohn Well I have seen the S90C and LG C2 side by side (Assuming C3 is not a huge step up from C2). The brightness is annoying for SDR gaming, but when it comes to HDR I don't find it blinding by any means. 1000 nits is for the 10 percent window. Which I feel makes for an impactful HDR performance, also contributes to more colour pop. The colours just straight out look better on S90C compared to WRGB OLED. It's just about preference.

They use the exact same panel. The main difference is in how they tune the picture in their software and processing. I have the A80L and really like it, but you can’t go wrong with either.
When I saw he had the tv lay down flat on the floor 😬
Never lay your tv down flat it could mess up the pixels and give you dead pixels over time.
This is why they come standing in the box 📦
Have you tested this TV with the Dolby Atmos Soundbars? My experience with Sony TVs doesn't work well with Soundbars. I hope you can give us testing of it with a multiple soundbars.
Yeah , it works amazing specially with Atmos soundbars . Just connect them via the eArc HDMI port .
@jacobblack122 I did that and constantly get disconnections all the time.
Hello .. i am looking for tv which is good in upscaling videos quality.. because i am always watching videos from external hard drive and tv channels ( which are usually 720 and lower in quality) .. i am thinking of this model .. do you recommend it or suggest another ( i tried lg qned81 and it was very bad experience and i have to change it) thanks everybody

Honestly it's about the same to me of the G3 and S95C...no real big difference...I need to get a curtain or blinds for that window so that way I can control the light. But most people will not have a direct window right in front of the TV.

G3 is brighter and also WAYYYYY MORE EXPENSIVE.
The processor and upscaling isn't as good on the LG even if it's more expensive.
If you have the money, overall the G3 is better just for that peak brightness alone... But the Sony is the absolute best for the price range. Samsung S95B and S95C would be up there too if it wasn't about all the QC issues they've been having
For movies nobody beats Sony and the XR processor
Sony's TV is definitely top shelf.
It's 2 company's the beat sony at processing , Panasonic and Jvc ,I have the Panasonic LZ2000 and the A95k and Panasonic is best tv In my house , and I have a 8k jvc projector i was about to get a sony projector until they showed me several jvc projectors there processing is by far better , one thing I will say all 3 of these Japanese companies are far better than Samsung and lg when it comes to processing.
Is the higher input lag than the c3 noticeable when you are playing cod?

The big problem with tv is it has only 2 2.1hdmi which one is eARC. When You have like me ps5 and xbox series x,you have to swap all the time hdmi .This tv is made for gamers.

LG is good for gaming, but picture processing and color accuracy are top notch in A80L. With a recent update, Sony added a screen resize feature in gaming mode.

LG's next gen OLED (G3) now has MLA, and nothing beats LG's OLED MLA for quality accuracy + brightness. Period.

I was thinking between a80l and S90c, but looking at the picture in BB a80l slightly better 3d picture sharpness, I ended up buying s90c because of price difference of 400 bucks during black friday.

I went ahead and bought the lg G3 with some nice speakers
G3 MLA is quiet good and you won’t be disappointed. It is just minutely less detailed than a95k but you won’t notice that. Hope you are enjoying the tv
Reflection on the screen should be much better for what you pay for Sony !
To be fair I do have a huge window that sits right in front of the TV. I need to get curtains for it.

1A and 1B if you are more a movies, tv shows, sports go Sony! If you tend to game more 60% of the time go LG. I have a Sony A8G and LG C2

When it comes to the picture quality...I will say the Sony is better but keep in mind that Sony has their own OLED signature footprint in the space. But if you are wanting something that will be brighter then LG might be a better option. I would say the Sony OLED is going to be for a space that tends to not have much light in it. But picture quality to me is better than the C3.

I dont play games. I cant imagine sitting for hours like that. We are all different. I quit playing games because I couldnt stand the constant updates on playstation.
I'm waiting to see what the A95L is like. That's the only TV I'd possibly consider over the LG G3.

A95L is way way way way way better than the g3 it’s not even funny
You play a lot of COD and few month later you will run into burn-in issues lol but I would definitely get it just for watching movies
Great over view of the sony., its only 2 companies that beat sony at processing Panasonic and Jvc , i have Panasonic LZ2000 and the A95k and Panasonic is the best tv in my house , also i have the 8k jvc projector , was about to buy a sony projector until they showed me several jvc projectors oh my god every one them.was better than every sony projector. Am being honest with you. When i watched your review i felt you got paid by sony to say it is this good than C3 . But yesterday i saw the tv physically in the showroom and my man the picture is FiRE . Still lg processing not a match for sony. Not saying lg is bad but still not a match for sony. Great job buddy . First of all...NO I did not get paid by Sony...but how can you say I got paid by Sony when you just said when you saw the TV in person yourself that is is "FIRE". But when I say it is good....I must be paid by Sony...I wish I was paid by Sony...but don't you hear the double standard in your response??? @@CKidM hey buddy don't get me wrong. My way of communication might sound rude but did not mean to portray anything as such. I meant when i saw the tv on my own i understood you were honest and why you werr saying it looked better than lg which you have already being saying was so great. Lot of other reviewers said a80l is not worth it and i never got to see it before. That's why once i physically saw it and understood you are the true one i came back home searched this video out from my history and left an appreciation note. Thanks for the review and your reply. Would be very helpful if you could arrange a g3 vs a80l comparison. I didn't get the chance to see the g3 in person and will be dependent on your review till stocks are available in my country.

@@westibbsI thought that was just me. Projectors aren't that great compared to oleds I suppose. I noticed some shitty motion in flash and the colours didn't pop out one bit.

Sony do make really dumb decisions on their product like A80L. Why would they think it's a good idea for A80L only have two 2.1 HDMI connections instead of four? Either they are dumb or just being cheap. This is the biggest reason why I ended up buying 77" LG C3. I need four 2.1 HDMI connections so I can connect my sound bar, PS5, Series X, and PC(5800x/3080ti). If and only if 77" A80L had four 2.1 HDMI connections, it would be my first choice to buy it.

This TV looks like an old OLED panel. Even my LG CX is beyond this tv. Definitely not for gaming.
Try a LG C3 you’ll see a major difference.
Your out your mind I sell both c3 & g3 & Sony 80k and 80l both look better in picture quality and processing like night and day it’s not even close and the lgs are brighter and and have less input lag on paper and in real world you wouldn’t even notice. Tv image quality will always be more important so you want 4 hdmi ports just add a £10 $ hdmi switcher it’s that simple .
@@UltimateRaceing in fact Sony using LG panels. Sony image processing is really bad in my opinion it’s so dark that you need to live in a cave to seen the screen.
All experts from RUclips that technical tested with a calorimeter came to the the conclusion with facts and number that Sony A80L falls short in every aspect compare to LG and Samsungs.
@@clou1969 The panel is the WRGB ex from lg display the same panel that is in the lg c3 the exact same and looks better in the Sony then the c2 and c3 not talking about brightness i don’t want bright there’s enough brightness to play hdr games still enough brightness to make you squint at night how bright do you want it lol I don’t watch tv in a green house the picture quality is excellent better then c3 go to your local Currys and look side by side you will be blown away how much clearer the Sony looks against a c3. Give me quality processing over brightness any day and as for your reviews think you must av been watching your own
Buy LG for Gaming, I bought a Sony A80L and it’s garbage for gaming. Only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports… what a disappointing TV. Very very disappointing TV. Hopefully I have a LG for gaming it’s definitely way much better for gaming and everything else.
