- Preparation of Amines from Amides:
Reduction of acetamide with LiAlH4 gives ethanamine.
Hoffmann's Degradation Reaction:
When Amide-acetamide is treated with bromine in the presence of aqueous or ethanolic solution of KOH, primary amine - methanamine with one carbon atom less than the parent amides are obtained.
