Those books especially when it comes to the solos are tabbed so wrong its absurd. Basically impossible to play it the way they write it, i could never learn the solos until i saw the way they are really played

Well, any metal guitar is good for shredding. A lot of shredders use Ibanez guitars because their necks are so thin. However, you should go to a music store and just mess around with all of the guitars and see what you like best. But, I can give you some brands in case you were wondering. Ibanez, ESP, Schecter(Synyster Gates plays on a Schecter), B.C. Rich, Jackson, etc. Any of those aforementioned brands make EXCELLENT metal guitars that are all great for shredding.
Don't ask what's good for "shedding" find a guitar that is comfortable for your hands and your sweet , once you pick up a comfortable guitar you'll know
That's nonsense. Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde, Slash, James Hetfield even Marty Friedman (have) use(d) a LP for shredding. Find one with a comfortable neck and you're good to go. Nothing cooler than shredding on a Les Paul ;)
The thing about Les Paul's is that you cant really reach the lower frets,and when you do your hand is in an awkward position.You also can't really bend on the lower frets, its kind of annoying, but other than that Lp's are great:)
kenny24598 Syn only uses the bridge pickup. His neck pickup is a sustainiac that he pretty much keeps on the entire time to let the notes ring out and get easy harmonics. But the sustainiac is just that, a device that helps sustain the notes. The only real pickup Syn has is his custom SD Invader on the bridge
musicdude0814 Yes you're right, i know that, too...but on some recordings, for example at the Afterlife solo you can see that, too...there he uses his other signature guitar, the one with two SD Invader and there he switches to the neck pickup, too...and on recordings for Second Heartbeat he did the same i think because you can obviously hear it And that's why Chris switches to his neck pickup:)
