    Thanks for the video. I intend to use these to sit at my desk wearing cargo pants, looking rugged and cool. Sounds like they will do the job :)

    Thanks for the review. Based on what you've said, and some of the comments in this video I think I'll go ahead and buy a pair. I'm planning on wearing them only a few times a year anyway, at obstacle course events and such. So for my purposes they seem a good buy.
    Update: I bought a pair off Ebay and I found the quality of the knock-offs to be pretty good. They seemed a little tight and narrow at first but once I broke them in they were fine. I wore them at Rugged Maniac and they performed flawlessly. I did replace the laces with EZlaces and got better insoles though. Overall for my purposes (not everyday use) they are great and cost me less than half than retail.

    Hello. I am Salomon and I approve this video. And by the way I want my Speedcrosses to be real Chinese and not fake Chinese.

    I honestly have had great luck with the Chinese knockoffs. Spent $30 for the shoes and replaced the insoles from some nike runners I had and have logged over 400 miles both trail and street. They have reached the end of their life and I could not be happier with the fit and performance. I am going to test another pair and if I get the same results I will be ordering 4 more pairs for my 2019 AT thru hike.

      Had a very similar experience. When i got them, i immediately replaced the insoles because they were crap. logged hundreds of trail miles on them, and they eventually came apart. Couldn't be more happy about a 40 dollar shoe, also thinking about buying another pair.

      They are not waterproof in the least but they do dry fast.

    • @ch0mper
      @ch0mper 6 лет назад

      lpoolck I bought the gtx version, and they were completely waterproof. I hiked in many shallow streams. If they got water in them though, you were screwed as they don't dry well due to the goretex. I'd probably opt for the non gtx version if I bought again.

    I had 2 pairs of original Salomon Speedcross', 3 and 4, which I paid around 100€ each. While they are super comfortable, on each pair sole and heel part was completely flat and wasted after one year of use (dog walking, mostly on paved surfaces). I've just ordered the chinese ones for 40$ and if they last me 4-6 months, it will be money well spent.

    • @kwhatten
      @kwhatten 5 лет назад

      That sole isn't supposed to be used on pavement, so for your purposes the knock-offs should be fine.

      Real Salomon has a 2 year warranty. And these shoes are not designed to ever be worn on pavement. These are trail shoes.

    I got 2 pairs of speedcross 4 from China off Ebay $35 bux plus 10 bux shipping each.
    I have an old pair I paid over $100 and I compared them throughly and I can't find any differences. They feel and look great 🤔 apparently open box

    Nice review, but don't be surprised that a knockoff doesn't offer the quality of the original for 1/3 of the price. For that money they performed above expectations I would say. Usually my genuine Speedcross's are already worn out after a year of obstacle and trail running.

  • @tommymorgan9293

    To be fair, they both are made in china

  • @keithratcliff7896

    So much cheaper and they look fantastic, have never owned the real deal. I've done 600 running miles in my ebay fakes now and there's still plenty grip left. The soles are pretty solid even if they may wear a little quicker. I run in the wet and on awkward trails and they're plenty grippy. It's hard to justify such a premium for a brand name when they fit great and are 90% of the way there. no shoe is waterproof, they all have a big hole in the top and all get sweaty if they're too waterproofed. I just bought another pair of fakes so I can rotate them for a drier pair in winter.

      Does the sizing run true or did you have to buy a bigger size ?

    • @keithratcliff7896
      @keithratcliff7896 3 года назад +1

      @@gareth2933 it runs true. though I have to say that they did actually fall apart a month or two after I reviewed them. I'd probably buy the real deal if I was looking again. Or buy some Merrell running shoes, they last forever. Have also had Saucony shoes going on 900km without any issues beyond minor wear.

      You are right, real Salomon shoes are at 80-100€ and this fake ones are at 20-30 €... It´s logic that the quality can not be the same.. you have to be realistic and the shoes are not looking bad for 7 months of extreme use.. It´s fake you have to think about it...

    They are $17.99 on eBay, with free shipping from China. I burn through my GENUINE speed cross once a year because I run 5-7 miles 350+ days a year. I think the knock offs might actually be worth it. I’m about to find out.
