I love the juxtaposition of one person cringing in horror at what is happening to Wolverine and the other grinning from ear to ear at realizing it's happening was everything
It's such a forced moment in the comics. Pretty stupid tbh. Charles and cyclops are supposed to be tactical geniuses, why tf would they send a man with metal bones to fight the Master of Metal? 😂 its comical.
They really held back in the image tbh, I wonder how they'll show him next week because that adamantium is supposed to be coming out of all of his pores and does significant damage to him on a cellular level.
i've watched several reaction videos and this is the only one i've seen so far where someone is actually excited to see magneto rip the adamantium out of wolverine rather that stressed or shocked it happened LOL
It seems a mistake to me to attribute all the credit for X-Men '97 to a single person, even if he is the creator, knowing that he has an entire team of artists behind him, including producers, writers, editors, composers, etc. It's like the case of the DC animated universe created by Bruce Timm, which would never have been as good if it weren't for the fact that it had creatives like Paul Dini and Mitch Brian, among many others involved. And there you have more current DC animated films, where Timm has been present, but without other good writers supporting him the decline in quality is pretty noticeable.
@bluesorcerer83 Excellent point Could be that while he did contribute to an awesome 1st season; there must be a good reason he was let go. Something tells me that his creativity would not stay comic faithful for long and he had plans to have the show FULLY represent his ideas of what he thinks the X men are, which probably aligns what today's social climate dictates.
I have a theory for episode 10. It might not be magneto ending up reversing the EMP. He is dead set on his mind. However, there is Storm. The comic says her powers are not just psionic weather manipulation but also energy. She shares a bond with the Earth. She sees the universe in terms of energy patterns. She can sense the dying of the earth electromagnetic field. I think given her omega status she can channel her energy wielding ability to restore the Earth EMP.
Magneto as headmaster was a smooth transition. No issues came out of it. He was holding up his end. At least three mentions this episode blaming him as leader of the school for what happened
out of all the reactors, only you and Montyverse actually know your shit. I would love to see some XMen collab between you guys. You're great, got a new sub!
I love your informed analysis. I'm watching too many other reactors shouting about Fatal Attractions and this one starts with you having the set of comics over your shoulders, even opening one to show the page you know! Loved the insight of Rogue playing Colossus' role. Speaking of Rogue, with her additional role in this, I was thinking she might be the one to absorb Magneto and Charles' powers to take out Bastion and fix the planet, and then use THAT mixing of their minds to create Onslaught for next season. Too much of a change? Can't wait for next week's reaction. Thank you!
Saw this episode on my lunch break last week. Had a wide-eyed stare at that last scene and yelled out "Motherf...ers!" when it ended. This show is way too good for what it tries to achieve. My guess they will reveal Val Cooper being Mystique this week. Other than that...I have no idea how this will end. I'm only glad it's not over yet, with Season 2 coming.
I think Kurt's scene with Jean from episode 8 is why she still connected with Storm. Does it matter if you heard it if you know how it felt? Jean and Storm felt the previous convos and love for each other as sisters.
What happened to Logan was some straight up Mortal Kombat type 💩 Luckily he's survived worse. We're undoubtedly getting wild and feral Logan in the future.
Wolverine survives because the voice actor himself made a short video we’re he confirmed he was doing voice work on season 2 the video is on here somewhere
This episode is truly remarkable, and the action is masterful! THAT ENDING WAS INSANE! While I do understand Charles's reasoning for giving Magneto the mansion, the man still neglected his students and pupils and he still willinly gave his mansion and the X-Men to his greatest enemy just so Scott and Jean could take a break which is pretty silly. Look where they are now: on the brink of war, he's lost two team members to Magneto (Rogue quite literally went rogue)and Magneto's line: "God's abandon those who believe in them" is such a powerful line. I love how Storm and Jean see each other as sisters, and their bond together is really wholesome. That line: “Make them mind your weather, sister. And them weather your mind" is such a good line! I find it interesting that Bastion still loves his mother despite what he did to her and turned her into a sentinel zombie, which makes me think he's not as emotionless and robotic as we were made to believe since he is part human. It's scary how powerful Bastion is, considering he's essentially a one-man Sentinel factory. I like how the show also explains to us a lot of plot holes without feeling like exposition. Nah, the animation in this show is PHENOMENAL AND GIVES ME MAJOR ANIME VIBES, I LOVE IT! Magneto has wanted to say "SHUT THE F*** UP" to Charles for a while, and that alone is hilarious! MAGNETO STRAIGHT-UP PULLING OUT LOGAN'S ADAMANTIUM, JUST LIKE IN THE COMICS, WAS BRUTAL ASF!!!
I'm most impressed with the amazing job Magneto did bringing his Asteroid M back up and getting it looking as good as new. He probably had Sunspot make all the glass windows for it with his power which looks incredible.
Great reaction. Love the Dragon Ball Z references. I didn’t pick up on that the first time, but you guys are totally right. Can’t wait for the next episode!
There was blood all throughout X-Men '97, but yeah, the stabbing was a shock! I'm so happy this show has a more mature content rating. We get so much more.
I can't believe they actually did the adamantium thing from the comics I just watched a lore video where they talked about it a few days before this episode came out
The tune at the beginning 1:23 reminds me of the score from American horror story New York City when Sam was getting chased by Big Daddy (manifestation of AIDS) in the post-mortem plain. Safe to say in X-Men 97 for the first season combining with the original this is the darkest season yet
It should be noted, if the Earth's magnetic field goes away, which is what Storm said was happening, it would mean the extinction of all life on the planet. Its what protects the Earth from solar winds and radiation that would bake the planet and strip away the atmosphere.
They took the end of this Episode straight from the Comic and made it into Animation. Growing up I remember Wolverine being My Favorite X-Man and getting this Comic, now as a 44 year Old it still Hurts!
Before I watch: I've been waiting for this one for 24 hours or more.... After watching: I think you hit all the marks needed. I have been saying in other videos "This season ends with an onslaught or an apocalypse." Trent seems to be pushing the Onslaught angle (and given the scenes, I can agree). My only issue is that I feel like they'd need to set up some characters to make the Onslaught angle work. It's possible they use all of season two to do so, but that feels off somehow. And a couple of those characters are from AoA, but I can't see a direct line to make AoA happen in the show (except for that the M'Kraan Crystal current resides at the heart of the Sun/Sol). And with all the previews/trailers scenes being shown, this last episode has no scenes shown for it. I'm really curious to see which angle they take here.
I still wish Magneto gave the same speech as he did in the comics during this scene. This actor could have pulled that off PERFECTLY. but oh well, it makes sense you can't think of an epic speech with three claws in your gut. if I'm not mistaken it was just a deep scratch in the comics.
According to Jean herself, she remembers everything Madeline did, she just has difficulty telling what is her memory and that someone else was present for.
I feel bad for Logan, even though I know the comics and knew this was coming. I still feel so bad for him. I can’t imagine all of the painful things he’s endured only to survive them. It’s a dreadful burden. Onslaught is surely upon us now.
Forge's "electromagnetic reflector" kind of looks like "Kamar-Taj" protection spell...that Supreme Strange used on the Guardians of the Multiverse in "What If..."....he did perform their magic when fighting against the Adversary.
Pulling metal doesn't take long for Magneto. When you're upset and IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIGHT you're not thinking about taking forever to inflict pain. It's going to be immediate, lol. Pain like that feels like an eternity. It's quick to us, slow to Wolverine.
Just as a note, for all those saying that Magneto is right and Xavier is wrong, Magneto is killing all life on earth other than him, Rogue, and Roberto. We don't see anyone else on Avalon/Asteroid M. I think they said that there was only an hour left when the Blue Team got there and Magneto doesn't seem to be going to get any other mutants. Seems like he's willing to kill all remaining mutants along with humans. Not to mention animals and plant life. Xavier's path is the right one but it's a hell of a lot harder and it means that people will be sacrificed to get there. He's got his own issues and problems (though I honestly think there's a lot of character assassination that's been done on him due to lots of people having daddy issues_ but in the end, his way means as many people make it as possible. Magneto's path is a lot easier and it's a lot more self-satisfying. But it also means everyone dies.
I think Charles unconscious that of Onslaught will be released. Wolverine becomes Feral. Jean becomes the Phoenix. Storm is going to unleash beyond her Omega Level
Xavier, while not a typical “villain” is certainly the biggest _antagonist_ in the X-Men. He’s a deeply conniving, conceited, manipulative, arrogant and self-centred, megalomaniacal narcissist - pretending to be “nice.” I found the show very enjoyable in his absence. The moment his down-and-out arse comes back, the show goes back to the same speeches between him and Magneto and their clash of ideals. The X-Men have outgrown him, and it was _immensely_ satisfying to see Magneto tell him to shut up. To clarify: I love the show. Love the comics. Hate Xavier’s character in both for the reasons stated above.
Finally someone said it. Damn this egg head is the biggest villain of the mutants. He doesn't care about mutants dying but will suck the humans legs in order to sell his 'dream'. I was so happy until this egg head showed up. Damn I hate narcissistic xavier
@@shurenraorao4850 "He doesn't care about mutants dying..." That's such a BS take. Of course he does. He just doesn't think mutants killing humans makes up for humans killing mutants at all.
I had that same issue of X-Men as well. It was done brilliantly. All hell is going to happen in the next episode, that’s for sure. Could Jean go full blown Omega/Phoenix again we’ll. But that was funny what Scott said to Cable bout the uniforms. It’s a call back to what Logan said in the X-Men Movie & what Scott said as well.
I'm less worried about Jean who storm hinted about her other powers, she will survive and be powerful..no..I'm more worried about xavier going full mob psycho 100 next week. Xavier will no longer be the calm waters, prepare for a tsunami.
As long as Storm can swim, she should be okay. If not, then maybe a NAMOR (cameo) will save her. Jean will turn into the Phoenix proven that she not her clone was the Phoenix. Wolverine will heal himself and be left with bone claws and an even more feral attitude. Forge will simply eject from the plane.
There is still a lot that either needs closure or needs to be set up to be carried over into the next season. I feel like the next episode will be longer since it is the big finale, and I also feel like there will be a cliffhanger or two to prepare us for the next season. I don't think the conflict will end just yet, and the whole situation between Charles and Magneto will also carry over. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Sinister and what President Kelly does.
Roberto’s decision to join Magneto is understandable given that his own mother screwed him over, but also, he doesn’t know Magneto. He knows only what he’s been told which I don’t think is much. As for Rogue, her storyline is following the path Colossus did in the comics; he defected it Magneto out of grief and Rogue’s doing the same. However, Rogue knows exactly what Magneto is capable of and she’s now a party to all the damage he’s about to do and all the people he’s willing to kill. I hope she does see that she’s made a mistake, but how long it will take for the X-Men to forgive her for turning her back on them is the question.
mark my words the end game for Sinister is getting to capture the Phoenix dna!! Jean will active the Phoenix Force and raise Hell!!! Episode 10 is going to be awesome
i must be the only person that way prefers the marvel girl outfit...to any other she ever had. second place is dark phoenix. ALL the old costumes were back this episode, hopefully to stay for some time!
Considering you've already got the storyline lined up in order behind you in all those comics. My guess is you already knew what was coming in this episode and what's lined up for Season 2
im pretty sure in the timeline that Wolverine loses his metal, jubilee becomes a vampire in that timeline. not 100% sure due to how long its been since I've read that timeline but god I hope we get that in season 2.
I was pretty much taken out of it due to how rushed such an important story line was crammed in when there was more than enough meat on the bone from OZT. I feel like they wasted FA. I also HATE them switching their uniforms. I truly hope that doesn’t last! I need “X-Men ‘97”, NOT “X-Men ‘79”! And I truly hope Rogue won’t be in that boring green and white trashbag now. I hated it when she was a villain, I hated it when they trapped her in it in the late 90s/2000s and I still hate it now. And these were just some of the things that really discouraged me with this episode.
It's a pleasure when you watch people who's really into comics.

However, Rogue knows exactly what Magneto is capable of and she’s now a party to all the damage he’s about to do and all the people he’s willing to kill. I hope she does see that she’s made a mistake, but how long it will take for the X-Men to forgive her for turning her back on them is the question.
The best reaction I've watched so far🎉
Wolverine shanked Magneto and unlocked New Game+ with Feral Mode and Hyper Regeneration!
And magneto unlocked...uh oh
It's worse than that.
Thumbs up if you were shocked or comment if you were excited about seeing that ending. I had her reaction while watching this episode on the bus.
Him: WE GOT EM🎉
her: 😃😀😨😱
mark my words the end game for Sinister is getting to capture the Phoenix dna!!
My guess is you already knew what was coming in this episode and what's lined up for Season 2
i feel like the likely members to leave the team is scott, rogue, jean, and maybe beast
Yall are the best! Onslaught is coming!!
Hey guys Great stuff. Keep it up much love from Sydney ✌️
im pretty sure in the timeline that Wolverine loses his metal, jubilee becomes a vampire in that timeline. not 100% sure due to how long its been since I've read that timeline but god I hope we get that in season 2.
That is a sick X-men shirt
Her: 😱
Him: 🤩
THANKS for this!!!!
I still can't believe they went there...
Best show on television, bar none!!!
I hope Namor shows up in X-Men 97
also, all this season has re-inforced that Magneto was and has been always been right.
THERR IS A POST CREDIT SCENE ON EPISODE 10 DONT MISS IT!!!
Do you have the Excalibur part of Fatal Attractions, couldn't see it in the background.
It's too bad we don't have X-Force yet in this series. But I was hoping the rest of X-Factor would've joined in.
In the comic that scene had ink blood we got red blood.
Bro!! I have the same T-shirt!! Let’s go!!!
The fact that X-Men #25 is in the background...
