    It’s amazing that every new storm is record breaking! I grew up in Van Nuys in the early 80’s and my backyard had at least 5 feet of water in it. It looked like a bath until my dad opened up one of our side gates to let the water out. This is just Mother Nature giving us what we need yet it’s another record breaker. Give me a break.

    I lived in So Ca for 50 years and the news reporters know where to go that show the worst possible areas. They all show up at the same corners even at the same time.

    These areas along the southwest coast are just not meant to be this heavily populated. We have seen the fires, floods, and mud/land slides destroy communities and increasingly so in the past few years.

    Dangerous to live on or below a hillside. Or in a flood plane. Or near the ocean. Or next to a creek. In tornado valley. In a heavily forested area. In earthquake central. In a delta below sea level. Let’s face it anywhere is a possible natural disaster.

    So sad this is as bad if not worse than 1983 was and I will never forget that event. Left California 3 years ago but lived there from birth to 59 so I certainly know the catastrophies.

    She got a months worth in a night… she wasn’t ready for it to be such a soaker. She’s been in a drought and hasn’t been wet like this in some time. A little over two inches rocked her to the hills

      They'll deny the claim or tell them they need to sue their neighbor. Insurance never takes responsibility that we pay them for.

      They def sueing that neighbor for his retaining wall not being maintained. I looked at a google earth image of his wall and you could tell it was in bad shape.

    ❤if you stick rod in hill it will go down 6 feet-cut down growth and let summer sun to dry out soil-it may take two summers-slides can be repacked-may take two efforts-chain link-dams may help-experienced from whittier hills-happen because was neglecting hillside-culvert on top-but drained into neighbors back-plugged up-once neighvor on top drained his pool into it-my property-good luck

    My 3-story home in Panorama City, where water works would probably come by next month if I wanted this type of work to be done on my property, all those areas would get the help sooner today because there are million-dollar homes

    Seems like most of these homes were their second homes.
    These people evacuated to vacation homes, didn’t even stick around to build sandbag walls or protect their properties at all.

    County works department does not keep the drains cleared although we pay them to in our property taxes that’s part of the disaster when it rains and I’ve never seen a report on this

    Unfortunately it's not historic and it could be much worse as compared to the great California Flood of 1862. It followed 20 years of drought and flooded 1/4 of the State after rain came down for 43 days straight.

    That’s absolutely horrible for those people and it’s not over. I feel so awful for them and how frightening that had to be to have that come into their home while in there? Thoughts and prayers for all affected. I really hope California and the federal government has money to help get these people help. Maybe less money for illegals and more saved for infrastructure and repairs.

    stay away from flooded roads. don't drive into flooded areas. if you are told to evacuate, do it..

    all i know is i live in the high desert in cali and last year was a hell of a lot worse to where the mojave river had to flow through my town, this year we are getting drizzles. just a way for the weather people to finally make there money and say its raining outside lol'

      The reason it is historic is because of so much rain. Im in it now and it is very scary. Im from Chicago so I am used to heavy weather. But this rain now is scary! And it will not stop till Thursday..

      A typical California storm used to amount to several days of light to moderate rain. These now annual biblical deluges started in 2017.
      Same year they started happening all over the globe, because the atmosphere is getting way too hot.
